Second year staying here and it’s a wonderful fit for our family. Lovely location, wonderful staff, helpful front desk team (Michelle and Cesar).
Overall, our experience was very positive. The resort is older, but the workers really do a great job of keeping everything so clean and well maintained. We were lucky to see a lot of of whales in front of the resort so that was a bonus. If traveling with an older adult try and request "A" building close to C pool. Most days that is where we spent our time and would have been less stairs. The transport carts were very responsive though if we were going up top to other pool/lobby. We were there during a time of Super Swells and the beach had Black Flag warnings the whole time. Do not flirt even with the edge of the water- we were further up the sand when a large wave took our feet out from under us and knocked us down, The view of the Sea of Cortez is stunningly beautiful but it is for looking only at this resort! No problem though since the the views from the pool side lounges and infinity pool are outstanding.
We were well received as always with very helpful and friendly bell-boys and cleaning staff. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful and managed to find us the rooms we were interested in. Food was good at both restaurants. The overall impression is that the hotel had a few upgrades here and there, but it is certainly showing its age. Timeshare persons were too busy for our liking.
Great place to stay and relax, thank you super Dave for your help! Will definitely be back
I have been going to this resort over 15 years. This year besides the resort being old and worn I had money stolen out of my wallet by housekeeping on our first night there. We went to dinner and there was turn down service and my money was taken out of my pocketbook. I complained to management and after days of me following up they said sorry there is nothing we can do. Be careful and lock everything up in the safe!!
Stayed at Club Regina Los Cabos and loved it.
The ocean views are unreal and the vibe is peaceful, not overcrowded.
Staff was super friendly and welcoming, which always makes the experience better.
Rooms are a little dated, but clean and comfortable.
Overall, a solid spot if you want beautiful views and a chill stay without the chaos.
Iran and staff were very helpful.
General info:
Mandatory taxes: expect about $25 per night for studio room (more for 1 and 2 bedrooms), $6 more if you park. These are not included in the price. See photo enclosed.
Check in and out was easy, we turned over on Sunday. Saturday is much busier.
It's hilly, and there are no elevators, so plan accordingly. They will give you a ride on the golf carts if you ask, but sometimes there's a longer wait.
Pools:
Pools are clean, but they close at 5pm. There are plenty of umbrellas for shade. Plenty of good nice pool towels. Pool bars are popular, not sure the quality of the drinks. Get a chair by the pool facing the ocean if you can, but get there before 9 so you can get a good spot.
The room:
We had a studio with kitchenette: fridge, micro, dishwasher, toaster, coffee maker, blender, all necessary dishes and utensils. This type of room also has a nice verandah facing the ocean. The decor is dated, but clean and functional. We noticed that they are remodeling rooms, so if you're lucky you'll get a remodeled one.
The AC is ok. Weather was in the mid 80s, nights 70, and we were on the top floor, but the room barely cooled to 73-75. I assume AC would have a hard time keeping up if it gets much hotter outside.
There are studio rooms without the kitchen and balcony, so be sure you know which studio you are booking.
Amenities:
they have 3 restaurants and several bars, so if you want to stay on the resort only that's possible. They also have a small minimart (open 7am-11pm) with all the basics and fairly reasonable prices.
The ice makers use filtered water, we were told. We used once and were fine. Ice cube trays in the freezer, so we made our own.
The Westin next door also has a restaurant, it's very pricey $50 a plate. You don't have to stay there to use it.
Guests at Regina no longer have access to the Westin grounds for day use, as previous reviewers mentioned.
There's a fitness/gym which is well equipped and has towels and filtered water.
Parking:
They have a valet parking, but they make you sign a waiver stating that they are not responsible for any damage. They charge $6 per night. I refused to sign the waiver, and they directed me to a parking lot to self park. It turns out that it's the same lot they take the valet cars to, but it's a hike back. We asked for rides to and from every time and they were able to accommodate. We tipped a couple of dollars each day.
IMPORTANT:
A word about Mexican Rental Car Insurance:
We booked thru booking.com and got $28 per week for economy, which was great. Expect to pay $26-32 PER DAY extra when you pick up the car. IT IS A MANDATORY THIRD PARTY INSURANCE, EVEN IF YOU HAVE liability and comprehensive thru your insurance and credit card.
Groceries:
Other than the small minimart on site, the nearest grocery store is one exit east on the highway, Fresco, which is on the expensive side and closes at 10pm.
Your best bet is to stop in Los Cabos. The Walmart has most of the things you need, including fresh produce. We were expecting long check out lines as per other reviews, but on a Sunday afternoon we had no wait.
Your best bet is either Chedraui or La Comer ,across the highway from each other, at the south end of town. Prices are slightly lower than the US, but not much. They are open until 11 pm.
Produce prices are per kilogram (2.2 lbs) and very reasonable. Produce was fresh.
Water:
We found it is best to buy a couple of 10 liter (2.75 gal) jugs, one gallon jug and a couple of 1 liter bottles.
If you can handle and carry the large jugs, we found it useful to refill the gallon container kept in the fridge. For two of us, we used 20 liters every 2-3 days. Remember this is the desert.
Have fun!!!
David was amazing and helped us with a late checkout situation. The property was very well maintained and we had a wonderful time!
Couldn’t be better. Wonderful property. Wonderful staff and lots of free activities. Very well managed. Sebastian made our trip. So fun and so friendly!! Didn’t miss a thing!! Highly recommend.
The place was amazing overall. However, some of the staff does try to upcharge you and push you towards activities that costs more money. Personally, I enjoy a place that is straight forward and is more of a place to sleep than to experience a resort. Overall though, the hotel was very comfortable and we had a good room with a view.
Cesar also was very helpful and not pushy. We did appreciate his help during our stay.
Great resort, beautiful beach and fantastic service. David at the front desk was excellent and helped my group with any issues we had. He was able to help a member of our group get in contract with a pharmacist when they became ill and made the whole process of getting help easy.
Amazing place, great, friendly and helpful staff. The architecture of the resort is very unique. The pools are very inviting and what a view.
The staff at checking in and valet service could not have been more helpful (Iran, Montserrat, Ivan, Juan, …)
Regina remains one of the most spectacular architectural structures in Los Cabos. Outstanding ocean views. Lots and lots of stairs because it’s essentially on a cliff. Guillermo, Jesus and Samuel demonstrated exceptional customer service.
We are Raintree members for 17 years and had never stayed here yet. We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed our stay very much. A car is very helpful and we like that it was close to San Jose del Cabo which is more our style of a town than Cabo San Lucas. Plenty of grocery stores nearby to stock the kitchen. It's very hilly which we enjoyed and rarely took the available golf cart transportation. Lots of pool and food options onsite - the food isn't any more pricey than the surrounding area so saves travel. Rooms are a little dated, but clean and more than adequate for us. Great views of whales daily!
This resort has gone through an owner change and needs a bit of TLC. However, the local location is great close to San Jose del Cabo versus Cabo San Lucas, which is better for us. The views our second to none but the drink prices are a bit costly. You really want to take advantage of the happy hour
I would not come back here and stay in a studio as our first week just wasn’t what we’re used to, however now that we’re in the one bedroom, we are much happier and things have been maintained a little better in the larger unit. The staff is amazing. The location in view is fabulous and their restaurant is very reasonably priced with great food.
We have been members at this resort for 26 years. Always so enjoyable and beautiful! Staff is outstanding. Can't wait to return!
we knew there were whales to see but couldn't believe how close they were.Every unit faces the Sea of Cortez. Also the staff was so helpful and polite. only negative was the amount of taxes you pay.
We were so lucky to go to this gorgeous resort during whale season. We saw whales everyday, plus rays jumping and dolphins. The resort has several pools to hang out at or beach too. The only draw back is it's too dangerous to swim, but gorgeous non the less.
Everyone who works there is outstanding! Iran at the desk got us an amazing room. He was so kind to us.
There are lots of activities to be apart of or just enjoy the views.
Highly recommend Club Regina.
I had a wonderful time everybody that works here is very friendly and Curtis’s and respectful Reyna pool concierge is very enjoyable we loved having her, she is very friendly we love having her around to talk to us Also Alan , Lucas and sabastian very good dancers and bar tenders all the bell boys are so sweet especially Alberto all the staff is awesome the pools and the view and the whales are awesome and the food is delicious the maids in the room are spot on every thing is clean and nice no complains
We had a fantastic time! The staff are very friendly and helpful. Reyna goes above and beyond her duties. The pools are clean and we'll maintained. The Adult pool with swim up bar is a must. Rooms are beautiful and clean. Inzio restaurant has delicious options and service is top notch. Our group would highly recommend Club Regina to anyone looking for a great vacation.
