An excellent hotel, indeed
Pros:

According to friends who live there, it is regarded as the best hotel in Nanjing. A superb location, directly connected to a vast shopping mall, with rooms offering breathtaking views of the city and the lake. Speaking of the rooms, they could hardly be better: an extremely comfortable bed, absolutely guaranteed sleep quality, beautiful décor, and plenty of storage space.

The icing on the cake is the bathtub—it is hard to say whether the greatest pleasure comes from the relaxation it provides or from the extraordinary lake view enjoyed from it. Excellent breakfast. The in-room facilities are of the highest standard, with particular praise due to the hair dryer.

Cons:

The arrival at the hotel was disappointing: we had to face a long queue for check-in, and none of the rooms we had booked was ready, despite our arrival after 3:00 p.m. In fact, this may well be the hotel’s main downside: it is overcrowded. It is difficult to find an armchair in the lobby, even more so a seat at the lobby bar, and there are queues for breakfast. There is simply too little common space for the number of guests.

It is also worth noting that a hotel of the Ritz-Carlton’s stature suffers from an almost complete lack of staff with even a basic command of tourism-related English. Suffice it to say that when I asked the concierge for a city map, he did not understand the request. ChatGPT’s translation ultimately came to my rescue.

Not shown to room or provided info on the facilities by staff. Hotel does not bring delivered items to you. Despite the high cost even simple items from the mini bar cost a high amount unlike competitors such as Sofitel which provides much better services & free beverages

The room description was misleading: 1) my room was not soundproof and I could hear my neighbour’s conversations; 2) room was described as having a hot tub, it’s literally just a bath and should say bath.
