Nice location but wouldn’t stay again. Needs a refurb
Pros:

Location was great and the staff all went the extra mile

Cons:

Compared to other Malmaisons I was dissatisfied with the standard of the room. After receiving multiple emails to offer upgrades at a fee when I checked in and saw the state of the room I called reception to pay to upgrade but they told me they had no availability. They didn’t enquire into my reasonings for wanting to upgrade post check in.

Pros:

Location

Cons:

Small rooms, shower compact, soap dispenser did not work, bathroom grubby and tired. Expensive parking, expensive room. Next time I will opt for Premier Inn

A quirky but excellent stay that enhanced our visit to Oxford
Pros:

Fabulous quirky hotel, ideally located situated next to the castle and a few minutes walk from all the main tourist sights, bars & restaurants, and shopping.

A very modern room, great staff and the park & ride bus stopped a few yards from the hotel. We didn't use the hotel bar but it looked fab.

The original prison layout has been maintained (we stayed on C wing), and you can even visit a cell kept in its original state. So a great stay, and quite good value compared to most accommodation in Oxford.

Parking is very limited but as driving in Oxford is such a nightmare (high parking fees, pedestrian areas, congestion charge etc, we used the park and ride which was fine. It's a great location but can be a little noisy at night as you are in the heart of the action, but wasn't really an issue.

Overall, a great stay at a reasonable price!

It is in a great location for sightseeing, shopping and eating. However it is expensive for the level of comfort in the
Pros:

Food was great, breakfast and dinner were delicious and well presented. Staff were helpful and friendly. Bed was comfortable.

Cons:

Hard to find the hotel as it is down a road with no sign posts. There were no instructions in the room. No idea of how to put the heating on or what the WiFi code was. The air circulation system was noisy and couldn’t be switched off as windows don’t open.

A bit disappointing.
Pros:

Good location and interesting history.

Cons:

We had booked expecting to be in the old part of the building, the fact that it was a converted prison being part of the attraction. However, we were put in a new room that, whilst nice enough, lacked any kind of charm. We ate in the restaurant and enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, an adjoining table was occupied by people who seemed to think that they were influencers/some sort of VIPs and the staff seemed more concerned about catering to their whims than looking after all of the customers.

Great one night stay in a fabulous quirky hotel
Pros:

Location was excellent as was the welcome from the staff.

Cons:

We did think the club rooms had robes and slippers but this wasn’t in our room. To be fair we didn’t ask whilst there

A nice one-off experience
Pros:

The location was excellent and the bed was incredibly cosy and comfortable. The staff that we interacted with were all very welcoming, polite and professional.

Cons:

For the price (£349 for a double cell room) I would have expected it to be spotless however the bathroom was not. The door hinges were covered in dust and there was a visible collection of dust on the floor behind the door.

Fantastic weekend away so much so we would probably come back again.
Pros:

Breakfast was ok on day one but was cold on day two but the staff replaced it straight away for us.

The cell room we stayed in was amazing we were so happy we booked another nights stay which put into a different section of the prison.

The staff in the bar and reception were brilliant and really pleasant. and

Cons:

Just the breakfast being warmer as previously stated other than that we had no other complaints.

Maybe a sign at the top of the drive if your parking at the hotel.
