Super 8 by Wyndham Houghton

Great place to stay for visiting students at Michigan Tech. We were able to walk to campus and to downtown for restaurants and shopping.

Good location, comfortable bed. Hate that the sink is in the room, hotel could use an update. Breakfast was below average and the juice machine was down both mornings.

Super 8 is down the hill and invisible from the street, so pay attention for the sign. Clean property that appears well-maintained in public areas. Room was fine, beds were good but the pillows were small squares. Good staff. WiFi was very hit/miss, often not even dial-up speed. Lots of parking.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. The view from the room was amazing! The hotel staff was helpful and there is so much to do in town. Joey’s Seafood Bar and Grill was an amazing dinner. The waitress gave us some tips on a great waterfall!

Easy check in, staff is super friendly. Accommodations for having family fun. Scenic views. Super nice place to stay.

An expensive nights stay.

Very disappointing room. Upon entry noticed the table tops had not been cleaned-sticky food remnants remained. Broken window could not be opened, when asked at desk they said the dowel rod preventing opening was put in place because lock was broken. Unbelievably small shower/toilet room while a small sink with no counterspace was situated beside the room door, so when door was opened you had to move. After staying the week across the UP at hotels ranging from $200-250 in satisfactory and even great rooms, this was by far the WORST example of a room that held a $250 price tag.
Never again will Super 8 get my business.

Overall this is a good hotel. Beware that there is NO elevator. I have knee issues and our room was on the 2nd floor. Had I known no elevator, I would have requested a first floor room. It was difficult to walk the stairs. No offer to help with our luggage up the stairs was given, we had to manage ourselves. That was disappointing.

Beautiful view, easy walking path to downtown dining and shopping. Room was clean, staff we interacted with pleasant. Breakfast was nothing special, but adequate.

Great location. All is basic level amenities. The carpet in my room really could be replaced and the whole place could use an update. But the staff was terrific and the location was handy to all the places I needed to be. It was nicely quiet at all times.

The view was beautiful. I enjoyed the pool and the hot tub. It’s very convenient since it’s so close to the campus. It’s very affordable.
