Outwardly beautiful, inwardly v disappointing

The bedroom (no2) and especially the bathroom needed repair, it felt really neglected and unloved, as did alot ofvthe interior of the hotel. The wood in the sauna was charred like there had been a fire and there was a hole in the ceiling above the pool.

i would stop again but there need to sort out the breakfast.

its not the fault of the staff.the staff was great in the citcumstance.the organisation of the breakfast was poor
people was .waiting a round for FOOD.everything was empty.the tray there need more staff to cope.a lot of people walk away without breakfast.its not right when we pay for a service.staff was doing everything in the hotel.the management cut it back so much there can't cope.there no how many people is book for breakfast the night before.so there should how many people.the two mornings was the same

Really disappointing we love coming here
Pros:

We love that it is secluded get to have down time. We have used the hotel quite a few times.
And love that uts in the middle of nowhere noone to bother you and can just relax

Cons:

We booked a full board package. Had to call hotel before arriving as they disputed the package saying it was an allowance. It stated online FULL BOARD.
There was no communication between staff we had to argue the case at lunch and dinner as they still said it was an allowance.
Then went for breakfast 1 1/2hours is all breakfast was available for. Hotel was sold out so all them people in that time.
When went for breakfast no clean tables!! The poor waitress was run ragged so I went to reception finally they came to help her.
I cleaned my own table to sit and have breakfast. Went to get my food nothing there!! It was a complete shambles. Had to wait for hot water for tea. No bread for toast then went for cooked breakfast nothing there again so had to wait for that. Then it came to check out when they tried telling me my allowance had been taken off my bill. I refused to pay it as I was full board . Really disappointing as we love coming to this hotel for our break away from the children. Don't think I will be going back time to look for somewhere else

Lovely stay - definitely would visit again. Few things to be amended but overall very good!
Pros:

Spa very good facilities. Bed excellent!

Cons:

Rooms could do with updating. Breakfast needs more options / more staff / extended time. Restaurant needs more staff - wait times quite long/plates and cutlery not being collected after people left.

Spacious room as described. Spa facilities good.

Cons:

Reception area small and didnt accommodate all guests waiting. Not enough receptionist ready for check in procedures. Breakfast ran out of food. Whilst many still waiting to eat. At least 10 people.

Beautiful setting, lovely room, great staff.
Pros:

Stunning, beautiful, staff were really friendly, room was amazing, loved all the old features and furniture. Grounds were amazing, spa was fantastic and relaxing. Food was really good, had lovely meal in the restaurant and breakfast had a good choice. We had a lovely overnight stay for my husbands 60th, couldn’t fault the place.

Had a nice swim but that was it

Cons:

To start with we arrived with no channels working on the TV, we asked reception who said they would rectify the problem however we only had one channel after that. Then our pillows were extremely flat and when we asked for some more we were told you didnt have any more as awaiting a delivery so my partner had to put his bag under his pillow to prop his head up resulting in a sore neck this morning.

Then we were looking forward to a nice hot fresh breakfast however we were greeted with multiple dirty tables that hadnt been cleared, multiple customers waiting around to be seated as no staff to greet them. No bread or butter and when asked they disappeared for 15mins resulting in cold food, no hot water for cup of tea, tried to find someone in reception but no one there so handed key on reception desk and left swiftly.

Very disappointed and wont be returning.

I wouldn’t recommend. Extremely outdated and grubby.
Pros:

It’s a lovely location and, from the outside, looks beautiful but once you are inside it is clear that it needs a lot of work.

Cons:

You can tell that this hotel was definitely in its prime probably 20 years ago… and not much work has been done since. The inside is rundown and in desperate need of upgrades. Everything just looks grubby and stained. The food was below average but so overpriced. They automatically add a 12% service charge to the bill that doesn’t even go to the servers (confirmed by waitress)… if the food was somewhat good I wouldn’t mind but just seems cheeky. Definitely won’t stay here again.

Pros:

staff were friendly and helpful. The surrounding land was beautiful and we enjoyed looking at all the tadpoles swimming in the pond and wildlife surrounding the hotel. breakfast was included in the price of the room which was also a nice addition .

Cons:

the room was a good size and generally clean, however the edges of the carpet had a bit of dust build up, especially under the radiator, so it didn't seem like there was a regular deep clean.

a lot of the furniture was a bit bashed and outdated and it was clear there had been a lot of 'quick fixes' such as poorly fitted wobbly taps, a sink that didn't fit the counter cutout and a lot of patches and discoloured repaints from repairs etc. It would be nice to have a mini fridge for the room and it somewhere to sit in the room other than the two dining chairs. the room was generally adequate it was just the finish was a little lackluster considering how impressive the outside was.

I would say the room is ok value for money but I have had better and cleaner at the same price point for a similar kind of place.
