The food and the staff
The Room view
Overall a good stay, with some mixed impressions. On arrival, there was no staff to help with bags. We pulled into the spot out front of reception and unloaded our bags. I waited with them while my husband drove the car down to the free parking area out front. Paid undercover parking was full due to an event. He made his way up the steep ramp and I checked in. We booked a Junior suite which was great in ways, beds were comfortable but the singles were small singles - so be prepared. Reception offered to have them pushed together, but we said not to worry. The suite had a spacious lounge and dining area, and a large balcony - but no view of the lake. The view was actually lovely though, overlooking the trees out back (the hotel was completely booked out so the helpful reception staff could not offer us another room). I was pleased that Jomon, from Reception, contacted me via text to check whether we had settled in and were okay with the room. I replied and was surprised that he responded - I was impressed with his customer service as well as his female colleague on reception.
Larger single beds would have been good - but not sure how they would fit in the small bedroom. We ordered room service of Bangers and Mash, a serve of fries and a Pepperoni pizza. The food was warm enough but not excellent. I personally wouldn't recommend.
Location and view. Good layout and nice facilities eg pool and spa. Room was a good size as was the balcony.
We ate there every night as the food choices were good.
Nothing
The location was nice sitting on the terrace with a drink overlooking lake Taupo watching the sunset was lovely.
The breakfast was good although the coffee was not very hot and the pastries under cooked.
The main problem with our stay was the room. If you ever stay at the Hilton Lake Taupo make sure you’re not in room 1. This room is right above the function room kitchen and very near to the main entrance. There is a constant drone of the extraction fans from the kitchen which is incredibly annoying. When I complained to the receptionist about this straight away she said oh that’s probably the kitchen fan so they obviously know this is an issue for that room. In fairness she did arrange for the fan to be switched off but it was 10.30 pm by that time point! However we were woken up the following morning early when the fans were switched back on.
There were a number of other niggles with our stay but that weren’t what you’d expect from a four star hotel but the issue with the room was the main problem.
I raised all my concerns with reception and asked to speak with the manager to discuss them but the receptionist said he wasn’t available to do so.
I would definitely like to speak with someone from Hilton about our stay so they can at least know areas they need to work on to improve things for future guests.
Would I go back? Maybe but I’d certainly have reservations about doing so.
Clean renovated rooms, good location.
Property decor was very nice. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was great. Bathroom was nice but room was not great overall. Parking onsite is good.
Expected better. Amenities were quite basic. Room was underwhelming - 2 single beds pushed together to make a double bed. Shared a balcony with another room. Conjoining room with the couple beside us. Spa facilities were very basic. Was expecting a lot more for the price paid and for the Hilton name. Plenty of other viable options in Taupo
Room was great, and the staff was friendly.
There was nothing to complain about
Nice big rooms with comfortable beds and a large bathroom with shower and bath. The staff are friendly.
The pool is nice but small especially if there is a family with young children. The gym is good but again small so need to use outside peak hours.
Location is not as convenient as lakeside accommodation but plenty of parking by the lakeside.
We only ate in the restaurant for afternoon tea so can’t really comment on dining in general.
The afternoon tea was pleasant but not exceptional and the savoury food wasn’t finger food so had to eat it with a knife and fork which was odd. We had to ask for a clean plate to eat the cakes/ desserts. Our table was small and crammed into a corner between two doors to the terrace with waitresses coming in and out and was hot because of sun shining through the glass so we had to decamp outside- not quite the romantic setting we had in mind but perhaps we had unrealistic expectations having had other afternoon teas at various hotels in London. Having said that the price was very reasonable.
We did find it annoying that we were told multiple times how good the buffet breakfast was and wouldn’t we like to try it. Mention it on arrival, only please.
We love this hotel! The pool area is amazing, as well as the gym and sauna. The location is perfect, we love walking down to the water and enjoying what Taupō has to offer. The rooms are super comfortable and clean and had everything we needed. The staff are always friends and helpful.
Bit expensive
The morning breakfast was lovely
有个小泳池和spa浴缸
网球场太破旧了,很多植物针刺,打球时就会进入鞋子。假草坪有些地方已经开裂,有受伤风险。
