We love this hotel! The pool area is amazing, as well as the gym and sauna. The location is perfect, we love walking down to the water and enjoying what Taupō has to offer. The rooms are super comfortable and clean and had everything we needed. The staff are always friends and helpful.

Return visitor for the pool, spa, breakfast and overall surrounds. Service was great from check in to check out.

Die Ankunft war etwas unterkühlt, keinerlei Hilfe beim Ausladen des Gepäcks. Die sperrigen Kofferwagen musste man selber über Rampen in die Lobby bugsieren. No Service at all….. Das Personal am Empfang ebenfalls sehr unterkühlt. Wir hatten Frühstück inklusive gebucht, wenn man den Pumpthermoskannenkaffee nicht mag und einen „Barrista-Kaffee” ( normaler Cappuccino) bestellt, wird man extra zur Kasse gebeten. Liebes Hilton, das ist nicht zeitgemäß und solltet ihr nicht nötig haben, schade.

The WiFi was very poor.
Generally overvalued. I booked a premium room for two nights. The second night room rate was almost 50% more than the first night, but I did not notice until I reviewed the bill.
The room was disappointing. The bathroom was miniscule; the lounge area was large but the countertop was small. All water had to come from the bathroom.
The external deck was shared, and not private.
There was black mould under the paving lip of the spa pool, and there was visible dirt on the bottom as well.
There are far better rooms available in Taupo at less than half the price I paid
Very disappointing, and I will not use this brand again. I am an experienced international traveller.

Our stay could have been a very nice one if we did not encounter the front desk staff named Lizeiz. When we arrived at the property at around 1:00pm, she showed no interest in talking to us. She was very inpatient and told us with raised voice and a cold stone face: "NO, you can't check in", "you need to come back after three o'clock", "this is the rule you should know before coming". We explained to her that we fully understood that early check in depends on availability and we just wanted to drop our luggage. We gave her our cell phone number and she promised to text or call us when our room was ready. She never did. We did not check in until after 6:00 pm.
For our second stay, we checked in on the APP. When we tried to pick up the room key, it was her again at the front desk. She told us (with her cold stone face and raised voice) "NO, you need to check in with your i.d.", Then she walked away. We eventually got help and received the key from another staff.
Not sure why Hilton has Leizei as a front desk staff since she has such a bad attitude and it ruins reputation of Hilton Lake Taupo. .We don't think it was an isolated case since we met her twice and she was rude and unpleasant both times.
BTW, other staff we met during our two stays, in particular, the front desk manager, Jomon, was professional and courteous. Jomon was warm, helpful and kind. We had an issue with broken fridge in the room, Jomon came to our room and get the issue resolved immediately. The item list of the bar and fridge did not match. Jomom efficiently had the restaurant staff resolve the issue. He was such a contrast to Leizei and he helped save our experience with the stays.
