The staff, in particlur Danny at reception, were excellent at getting a resolution to a room that was so hot is was inhabitable...
Firstly, the room allocated to us was ridiculously hot... the handout given on checking in suggested that all curtains and windows would be kept closed to keep the room temperature controlled. Unfortunatley, the window and curtains were open with a fan recirculating hot air, which created a room temperature of 34 degrees! Whilst i do appreciate that not all the rooms have A/C, Danny at reception immediately resolved this issue and moved us to a more suitable room... On checking out I was told that there would be a charge for my dog, which is acceptable, however when I spoke to someone earlier in the week they had told me it would be £20 per night, but I was being charged £40 per night - when I challenged this I was told that as a gesture of good will, they would reduce the charge to £20 per night - not really a gesture, as this is what I was told it would cost!!!
Staff very friendly and helpful, especially behind the bar.
Double bed was too soft for me (100kgs)
Nothing
Poor quality hotel.
Our room 343 did not have AC. They placed 2 fans in the room instead.
When we asked for an AC, the receptionist was unhelpful and said that the hotel does NOT have AC. Rate it 2 star and would not recommend it.
The conservatory was an oven and we could not feel comfortable in the room or the bar area.
One hotel to avoid on a hot day.
Plenty of space inside the room, the hotel in general and outside. A friendly relaxed atmosphere throughout. Plenty of parking.
We will certainly stay again.
Lack of air-conditioning in the room, although there was both a fan and heavy-duty curtains.
Was very surprised how clean and good facilities were for the price we paid. Never expected it to be as nice a hotel as it is for such reasonable prices. Staff were all lovely and welcoming
Location was useful for us
There was no AC in the room and it was not clear when I booked that that was the case. In fact the room had AC but it wasn’t working. When we spoke to the front desk and the manager they said it was an old hotel and just fobbed us off. Really quite awful customer service. We did ask to be moved to a different room or be refunded so we could book elsewhere but he said it was company policy not to refund more then 25%. Ended up staying as we only needed the room for one night. What a disappointment. Also the room was dusty and dirty. I don’t think the hotel is very clean.
Cleanliness, comfort, decor, grounds easy parking
View from room over flat roof
Location
No AC, room smelled heavily of raw onion, chipped and worn furniture and fittings. 5 Star charges for -3 star facilities.
My wife and I stayed overnight. The Curry menu was fantastic. The Railway Lamb Curry and the Paneer Curry was phenomenal. All the staff, super helpful and a lovely welcome and service from Viktoria at the Bar and, at Breakfast.
Avoid this hotel at all costs. We turned up at 9pm for a work stay only to find out they’d double booked our room and a number of other guests. They then fobbed us off saying they had booked us a room in a hotel 10 minutes away, we drove there and they’d never heard of us. Had to drive back to the Hilton to resolve it, over 2 hours later we finally had a room at the other hotel (at cost of £300) but by this time it was nearly midnight.
This used to be a good hotel, we’ve stayed here many times before, but never again - look at the reviews, it’s changed for the worst. Has put me off staying at any Hilton for that matter.
Great location, staff friendly, food lovely
Could do with fridge in room
Location ideal for what we needed, however this was the worst double tree we’ve stayed at. Room is awful, NO AC had to keep curtains closed to avoid sun heating the room, TV difficult to use, a slim fan that just gave hot air to compensate for no AC and bed too firm. Breakfast was poor. Wedding party the following morning made breakfast less enjoyable with their loud and rudeness, really should have placed them in another area. Really sad to see a hotel chain let themselves down. The room rates do not reflect what you get, this is a poor value for money. Reception staff don’t address you, the only staff who do are the cleaners, they were polite. Overall we won’t stay here again.
