Location was good
Advertised as having safe in the room, this was a deciding factor when I chose here as I would be wearing sentimental jewellery at a wedding. The safe was broken and when reported to reception, they advised that all the safes in the hotel weren't working as they were due an upgrade! Nobody let me know this in advance.
The windows in the room were rickety. One wouldn't open, one wouldn't shut - meaning a rude awakening from the seagulls each morning.
The toilet seat was broken also. We reported this to reception on arrival on Saturday, they said itd be Monday before anyone would look at it. We checked out on Tuesday morning and still nobody had been.
Breakfast was also poor. Two instances where there was no white bread for toast, one instance where the sausage was still pink inside.
All in all, really not good enough - especially for a Mercure. Staff seemed disinterested when we expressed our disappointment on check out, and were more interested in making sure they recovered the £21 charge for 3 days of parking.
Very disappointing experience.
Access to everything we visited
Nothing
It is a great holiday to stay at, near to the Gaiety Theatre and in walking distance to the train station.
I love the breakfast.
The only thing I did not like was the messages to tell me to upgrade, in total I got 6 messages in a few days. I called the hotel and they told me it automated and they did not know this was happening. I clicked up grade, when got to the hotel, couldn’t upgrade as the hotel was full 🤷🏻♀️ Was very happy with my room anyway.
Great location, friendly staff, Breakfast good
Told no swimming pool only gym, but picture shows pool.
Broken bedroom handle unable to close allowing a draft to come in , feeling draft during the night.
Disappointing, for the price room was like a cupboard , no where to hang clothes up , horrible table ? stuck in a corner
value for money paying for a walk in cupboard
Reception and bar area were nice and modern. Staff friendly and helpful. Location central. Rooms a good size even though it was the compact room.
Room furniture a bit tired and dated. Cooked breakfast wasn't that good. Breakfast started at 7am and by 7.20am it looked like it had been sitting under the heat for hours especially the beans as they were dry. Not worth the £17.00 they were charging for it.
