Excellent stay, many thanks
Quirky place, friendly staff. Nice clean rooms. Very convenient place to stay to break a long journey to the Highlands
No restaurant for evening meal but got something on the way.
Wasn’t available for Continental Breakfast but the lady made me up a bag with a sandwich crisps fruit drink a Croissant and a. Couple of boiled eggs. Absolutely lovely
Friendly staff and comfortable room!
Lovely hosts, good continental breakfast. Really handy location. I would recommend, very eccentric and eclectic decor, a bit different to be sure. I really enjoyed it, also slept like a baby.
Had an excellent stay. Received a good welcome and had a lovely stay, Travellers should be aware that the hotel may not open until check in at 4 pm, as was in our case.
Hotel has everything you need. The couple who run it are great and a pleasure to speak to. Very friendly and welcoming.
Owners were really friendly and really helpful! When I arrived there was no record of my reservation from Expedia, they were really quick to help find a solution for me and got in contact with Expedia straight away to find out the issue, unfortunately Expedia gave me a completely different last name on my reservation so we didn’t know it was me! Really enjoyed my stay, not a long walk to ecclefechan to get a bus so that I didn’t have to drive everywhere. Room was lovely and clean and exactly what we needed, also appreciated an 11am check out time!!
This a delightful Inn. Highly recommend.
All the thing was perfect only one thing is that dinner facility not there special for elderly people in equipped and nearest high street foods stall 6 to 7 miles away
Brilliant, What a lovely welcome, a roaring log fire and instant access to our room without any fuss. The hosts were very friendly and attentative throughout our stay. A lovely comfortable room with all the amenities. Breakfast was amazing. contintental yes, but we were offered and given scrambled eggs on toast cooked to perfection. The only downside was the stairs, being a very old building the stairs were very steep and not for the elderly or infirm. The hotel was beautifully decorative and steeped in history throughout. perfect for our stopover as it was only a couple of hundred yards from the motorway. Highly recommended. Thank you
WONDERFULL
Rooms has been sold to me don’t exist in the hotel, I’ve charged half of the payment by hotel without my permission,be aware.
This trip was a walk down memory lane for us. The Kirkconnel Hall was our local bar for a couple of years, back in the mid 1970's. Our trip was out of season, so there was no food available, but there were a couple of options in Ecclefchan itself. It was the owner who dealt with us and he was lovely, as were the ladies the next morning, when we had breakfast. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Enjoyable overnight stay in a clean comfortable room.
Starting with positives, breakfast was good as was the female staff member serving it. The room was clean, but like the rest of the hotel, was very dated. (Old furniture, tiny tv, tiny mirror etc). Our bed was comfortable, but the curtains let all the morning light in to prevent us sleeping. Unfortunately the negatives vastly outweighed the positives. The owner/manager (John) lets his dog run around the hotel. (Has we known this, we wouldn’t have booked). It barks to alert, when someone is arriving or leaving the hotel, This means you are not allowed to leave or enter, without the ‘friendly’ John, chatting/interrogating you as to where you’ve been; where are you going etc. John is a nice man, but is totally ‘overbearing’. It’s not ok to put your arm around hotel clients or pull them by the arm, when you want to show them something. This is totally unprofessional for a hotelier to behave in that way. Having booked by credit card on Expedia, weeks earlier, we should have arrived to “Welcome sir, your accommodation is paid” not “You have a £160 to pay”. Sort this matter out with Expedia, if your going to use their website. After sorting this out, you offered us (by way of a gesture of apology), a free drink at the bar the next night, but when we arrived, you charged us £10 for a bottle of cider and a cheap can of Guinness, so you are not a man of your word. There was also no draft beer and no price/drinks list for clients. You are a bad B&B, not a ‘country house hotel’. Avoid !!
Located right next to junction 19 on the A74M, this quaint friendly little historical hotel provided a perfect stopping place for visiting the area. Staff members were very helpful and our room was comfortable; we enjoyed the breakfast which featured excellent freshly made croissants.
What an amazing place.....full of character and very handy for our journey on M74 from Scotland down to England.
Very friendly staff and a good breakfast at a very reasonable rate. Would definitely stay again.
