While staying here on business, I had some mail sent to me at the Hilton Garden Inn Columbia. I informed the hotel manager in writing, via email, to please hold my mail. She immediately replied to my email stating that she'd "most definitely" hold my mail for me. Approximately 36 hours later, I went to the hotel front desk to retrieve my mail. Nobody at the front desk - including the manager whom I had notified in writing to hold my mail - could locate it! She determined that the hotel night auditor returned it. One piece of mail, sent to me by a family member, was returned marked "Return to Sender". The other piece - sent to be by my attorney - simply vanished! It was never received, nor was it ever returned. This experience left me frustrated and disappointed.

The restaurant had excellent food. The buffet wasn't that good for the price.
Shower nozzle had to be replaced. That should have been picked up by housekeeping I believe. Only half the water came out of shower head. I did report it in the morning and nozzle was replaced by the time I came back in the afternoon. Cable channels were minimal.
Nice quiet room, excellent bed and pillows, I did not realize that there was a blanket I could have used though, didn't see it until I was getting ready to leave. I was ill and called down to front desk to see if someone could bring up a luggage rack and help me downstairs, and the maid came with it and helped me to car.
The luggage racks are not compatible for someone who doesn't use a traditional suitcase, I had my laptop, an open tote style bag with clothing and a small hanging bag with funeral clothing, bag with my dress shoes, and my tablet, purse, I sleep with a fan and bring my own since the front desk had told me in a phone call there weren't any to borrow? I could not get the WiFi to work, and when I tried to use the phone I was not able to hear, they sent someone up to help me and he got things figured out but the phone is very confusing to someone that has not seen one that looks like something from Star Trek, no discernible earpiece or mouthpiece, and the front and back look too much alike, which is why I could not hear them nor they me. I was also clearly struggling to get to my room and to come back down to return luggage rack, I didn't even think to ask for help when I checked in, an incoming guest helped me get things out of my car and helped me get things on the cart and helped me get inside the lobby.
