You can tell a lot of work went into making it what it is today. I think the price was steep for a very recent re-open. I felt there were a lot of kinks to work out. Breakfast is a cute idea, but seems very wasteful. We opted out the last day because I was only eating 1-2 things out of the box and my husband too. We didn't want to waste more food. I think the item choices were good, but a table or grab & go station seems more practical.
I think there could still be an improvement with aesthetics. We saw buckled and broken doors, elevator was a little rough, and shower was touchy.
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally document several issues encountered during my recent stay at your property.
1. Check‑In Experience
Upon arrival, the night audit associate, Daniel, was responsible for the check‑in process. Unfortunately, he was unable to provide:
- Clear answers to basic questions
- A room assignment until 5:25 PM
- Any form of amenity or gesture for the inconvenience
- Secure luggage storage, requiring guests to leave their belongings unattended in the lobby while he remained disengaged
During this extended delay, my three‑year‑old son was walking up and down the lobby ramp. While assisting another guest, Daniel raised his voice at me in front of multiple people, instructing me to “make him stop.” This was entirely inappropriate, especially considering that the child should have already been in a room had the check‑in been handled in a timely manner. I responded that his responsibility was to complete the check‑in process, and mine was to supervise my child.
He then raised his voice again, citing “liability,” instead of addressing the root issue: the significant delay in providing a room.
After 2 hours and 25 minutes, we finally received our room—without any apology—and found it to be inadequately cleaned.
2. Housekeeping & Professional Conduct
Later that afternoon, we discovered the room had no towels. After already receiving the room late, this added another layer of inconvenience. When I went downstairs to request towels, Daniel was eating pizza at the front desk, speaking to us with his mouth full and greasy hands, and responded, “I’ll take care of it,” in a manner that lacked any professionalism.
3. Industry Perspective
As a former Front Desk Agent, Front Desk Supervisor, Housekeeping Manager, and Vice President of Marketing for InterContinental Hotels Group, I am well‑versed in hospitality standards. The level of unprofessionalism displayed by Daniel reflects deeper operational and training issues within this property.
This is our second stay at the property, and we consider ourselves high‑potential repeat guests. Our in‑laws live one block away, making this hotel an ideal option for occasional date nights and overnight stays away from our child. However, if rooms are not properly cleaned and staff interactions continue to be rude, inexperienced, and unprofessional, we will be forced to consider alternative accommodations. The Hilton property across the street, at minimum, demonstrates accountability and provides appropriate service recovery when issues arise.
Check your bill, not clear cut. We were charged twice for some services, charged in the totol folio and again individually, which was confirmed with a hotel employee taking our call. He stated that it had to be resolved by the manager Raymond. We left 4 messages, and have not received a return call. We were forced to dispute charge with Credit Card, really frustrating.
Location was very good, very close to the beach, a lot of good restaurants within walking distance, staff was very courteous, right next to a scuba diving shop and Marina (the purpose of my trip was to go Diving)
Our room had a view of the roof top of the lobby… this was disappointing
Too expensive for kind of rooms it offers
vaste chambre avec vue sur la marina.
petit déjeuner à prendre en chambre.
Night person at the front desk was rude and unprofessional. I was not informed that you needed to request on a daily basis for your room to be cleaned and clean towels. Once requested, it did not happen! I stayed for 3 nights with no cleaning, no trash emptied, but did get clean towels after I requested them at 9PM!
I still do not understand my charges. I am a frequent tra veler for both business and pleasure and can't recall a worse stay.
When hotel information states, "Breakfast included", no one thinks that's a box with a frozen bagel, etc. in a box that can barely make it to the room, without collapsing. VERY DISAPPOINTING STAY :(
Training staff. Renovate rooms, particularly bathrooms.
Lola’s on the water AMAZING!!! Location is just unmatched . Raymond greeted us and invited us into the hotel as if it was our home. We were seated quickly and service was great . The food is great.!! Would definitely come again
Came to visit for an anniversary staycation, Raymond made our whole stay so special with helping arrange a special weekend for my wife
Thank you for the help
I had an amazing experience at Lola’s … the view, the decoration, the service, the food, the vibe! Everything was on the spot! Also I met Raymond who’s the manager of this location SANDS and he was super attentive and caring. He told us about the reopening on this location and how happy he’s been with their tremendous success❤️
My husband and I enjoyed yet another wonderful vacation at Sands Harbor!! We are repeat guests and each and every time we return we can appreciate & enjoy the numerous renovations and upgrades that the staff & management have been working diligently to bring to completion. We were excited to try the new onsite restaurant " Lola's on the water" and as expected, it did not disappoint! Whether you prefer to stay onsite by the pool or venture off, the location of Sands is absolutely perfect and central to all of the amazing restaurants and night life. To add to this, downtown Pompano & the beach is easily walkable to and from the resort. All of the staff, most especially Raymond, are absolutely top notch. They never fail to to meet and exceed our needs. We truly felt spoiled and welcomed as always on our vacation! We of course, will be returning again soon!
The location was great with beautiful views of the intercostal and from the 8th floor, you could see the Atlantic.
The room, while large and spacious, was very dated. The doors were in poor condition with visible gaps all around and were very thin. You could hear the people nextdoor to you like they were in the same room (bathroom and body function noises included). The music from the bar down stairs was not muted at all by the door to the balcony. When the music at the bar stopped playing, there was a large yacht in the marina that started blaring their music and partied until well after 11 PM.The shower ran out of hot water mid-shower due to small hot water heaters that were under the sink in the bathroom. I was studying for a state exam so the constant noise was a big problem. It was bad enough that my AirPods muffled it to some degree but didn’t eliminate it entirely. I’d say if you are a spring breaker looking for a party spot, this is your place. For me as a business traveler, it’s a for sure no go.
Everything
I had a lovely stay at Sands Hotel ! the rooms were comfortable, the atmosphere was relaxing, and everything was well maintained. The service was excellent, especially Raymond, who was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything went smoothly. His hospitality really made the stay extra special. I would definitely recommend Sands Hotel and would be happy to return
