Good hotel, nice facilities - a little out of town. Nice and quiet
Pros:

The staff were ovely. Breakfast was very good.
Room was good size... Bed was huge.
Shower had good water pressure

Cons:

Shower drained V slowly, so concerned it may overflow.
Television was hung in the wall squint.
Room was lovely and cold, but bed sheets felt
everywhere so slightly damp...
Maybe Aircon had been on for a long time before we arrived.
Bed was too soft.

OK to escape the heat, but don't expect usual Mercure standards
Pros:

Staff friendly and pleasant. Breakfast nice. Beds comfortable. Blackout curtains great. WiFi great - worked well and was free. Nice shower. Quiet. Good location if you have a car. Air conditioning was fantastic which was why we stayed - I needed to get out of the heat as I have disabilities.

Cons:

The lift was awful!!! As soon as you got in it then it loudly and juddered forcefully when it started. The first time it happened we actually thought we were going to die! It was so bad that my Assistance Dog has developed a phobia of lifts now as she was trembling after it happened which is NOT good. We informed reception who just said "it's just old and does it when it's hot". Also, I said I had an Assistance Dog and was put on the first floor, had to go up another flight of stairs as the lift didn't go there, and then go to the end of a very long corridor. Not great in terms of accessibility when I needed to take my Assistance Dog out.

Cleanliness wasn't great - hair, dust, dirt, spiders, and cracks & wear and tear in bathroom and room. Duvet and net curtains were stained (duvet looked like blood drops?!).

No idea what was going on with the pillows? 2 x tiny ones that didn't even cover the bed. No extra ones. They weren't even standard size ones and were just two soft lumps! Ceiling lights desperately needed too! I appreciate low level lighting at night, but in the day it was way too dark to see too get ready. I had to put all the room lights on to be able to work on Zoom and it was still dark!

Parking was £10 a day which is horrendous.

Not obvious who the receptionist was upon entry - just looked like a man working on an iPad.

No obvious vending machines & no bottled water in room when we were in a Red Warning heatwave.

Definitely not worth the money, and not up to the same par as the Mercure in town, nor any others I've stayed at. Needs some serious updating.

Checked in at 9.30pm, checked out at 11 pm. Worlds shortest stay.
Pros:

Nothing. I checked in and turned on the air con and water started dripping.

Went down to reception to inform them.

The response i got : we will check it in the morning.

My response: there is no way i can sleep with water dripping constantly.

They came and had a look and said i can check out and they will offer me a full refund. So i checked out at 11 pm at night and booked a travelodge down the road.

So much for hospitality. Never staying at any Mercure again.

Cons:

See above.

A happy comfortable stay in a useful location for the motorway.
Pros:

Clean and actually much nicer inside than outside. The communal bar area as very nice and welcoming. Breakfast was really good, lots of options and delicious. Staff super friendly and helpful at all times. Nice rooms, The comfiest beds ever, and massive!!

Cons:

The outside looks awful, carpark looked derelict full of bits of broken glass. I was dreading going in!! Some areas inside a bit old and neglected. Shaving mirror in the bathroom was rusty (just take it off if you don’t want to replace it!) and some tiles were chipped. Air con very noisy and rattling in one of the two rooms we had, unbearable for sleeping and it was during the hot spell so very much needed.

Pros:

The staff on check-in were fantastic - Risi and Dan. Bed was comfy, breakfast was good, and staff were all super friendly and helpful.

Cons:

Although it was sorted quickly, the aircon in first two rooms wasn't working. And if I had been choosing i would have preferred a hotel in the city.

Pros:

The bed was comfortable.

Cons:

There was a lot of dust on the clothes hangers, stained towels, mold in the bathroom. I asked for an extra pillow through the hotel app on the first night, it wasn't even brought to us the next day, not even an answer on this subject, ugly. The light in the room, almost none. Disappointing, this is not what a 4-star hotel looks like, I say this from a former 4-star hotel worker.
