The modern hotel, very kind staff, great location. A bit outside of the old town, but close to everything.
Freundliches Personal, gutes Frühstück, bequeme Betten, Pool, Bus in die Stadt.
Aufzüge für so viele Menschen zu wenig. Dampfbad konnte nicht flexibel genutzt werden, nur mit Anmelden.
Location is good
Breakfast was great.
Air conditioning was excellent
Room safe box was changed
Very old TV system couldn’t play my devices on it
Alles, TOP! We hadden een zeer ruime kamer met groot terras, met zicht op zee. Prima ontbijt en restaurant. Zeer vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Ontzettend mooi ingericht. 💝
Het binnenzwembad had groter mogen zijn. Parkeren is niet evident.
Stayed at the Alto Lido. Had fantastic weather for early April. Still too cold for outdoor pool, except the hardy or children. There is indoor pool, not listed in amenities. Everything was clean. Decor is modern. Best for independent travelers. There is no tour desk. Don't underestimate the value of the free shuttle to town. Too far to walk. Reserve day before - fills up. Good restaurants within walking distance. Our favs were Sabor da India, Bistrot de Agen, Imperfeito. Take time to walk along the Promenade across the street down by the river. Very pretty scenery. Hotel has music each evening - some nights better than others, but a nice amenity. We would stay again.
Very nice destination and resort. The hotel offers very good amenities and services.
The location is close to the city center and can see interesting sites around.
Lovely hotel, well located and good value for money. Friendly staff and an excellent restaurant on-site. Would definitely recommend.
The elevators are a bit inadequate for the size of the hotel.
The common areas and rooms are in good shape, choice of food for breakfast is excellent
The sauna didn’t work
very clean hotel very polite and courteous hotel close to shops cafes and a short walk downhill to the sea and the Lido. we didn't hire a car and got on well without it by using the shuttle bus from the hotel and yours.
Agradeço ao Sr Carlos que quando efetuei o check out as 6.00 am e nao tendo café pois ainda estava fechado o restaurante, ofereceu o seu café que tinha para si e ainda nao tinha começado a beber
. Estou grato pelo atenção e atitude 🫶
A really lovely hotel, with a super friendly staff. The waiting staff in the restaurant went out of their way to play and interact with our son at breakfast, even the housekeeper would interact with him. They were amazing. The food was brilliant, breakfast was plentiful and plenty on offer, our room was clean and comfortable with amazing views. It was quiet, beautiful and such a lovely place to stay.
We have just come back from an all inclusive break at this hotel, well not quite all inclusive…here are a few reasons why….breakfast is standard as expected no real problems…but if you have your breakfast at say 8am you than can’t have another drink until 11am unless you pay for it…you we only had lunch twice but one drink is allowed same at dinner…the tea/ coffee machines are switched off…so know hot drink after you’re meal….they have snacks for one hour a day…we were round the pool and didn’t want to get changed for lunch in the restaurant, but were told snacks are only served usually about 4.30….which in our opinion is far to late. Tea/coffee is only served for an hour a day also ice cream…I don’t expect food to be churned out but this is just mean…I would call it full board with selected drinks not all inclusive. Most of the staff we came across were nice apart from one grey haired guy in the restaurant he is very rude..not nice at all.
On a plus the hotel is very nice and clean our room was really nice with a side sea view which was good. You have to pay for a safe if you want one €15 a week.
Would I stay here again, probably not….tea/coffee should be same as the other drinks and you shouldn’t have to wait until 11am for your all inclusive drinks…food at dinner was not great we ate out twice…
We had previously stayed at this hotel and had a fabulous experience, unfortunately our last visit was nothing like as good.
The reception staff apart from one lovely gentleman were extremely rude and unwelcoming. As it was cold when we stayed and the aircon/heating didn’t have instructions and we were unable to get the temperature higher than 17. We asked at reception how we could get it to heat. The lady was extremely dismissive and basically said nothing could be done! After some time she agreed to send maintenance to assist.
We got stuck in the lift as it stopped and wouldn’t open the door. We pressed the emergency button for what seemed like a long time but suddenly the lift started moving. We reported this to reception and I asked should happen when you press the emergency button. Again they were very dismissive and said you had to wait until someone came! Not the reassurance you need!
On departure we paid the tourist tax and waited for our transfer. On 4 occasions reception staff came and asked us to pay. After the 4th time my husband had to produce evidence on his bank statement that the payment had been made. There was no apology given for their incompetence!
On a positive note the hotel is in a good location and the breakfast is plentiful and varied.
We are unlikely to stay again after our last experience.
I’m giving a 5 as it was perfect for our holiday. Great location in the up and coming Estrada monumental area.
35 minute walk into Funchal centre.
Nice restaurants, shops and car hire all within close distance.
Lido areas will be lovely in summer.
We was on the 9th floor facing west (I think best view). Room was very clean and comfortable, hair dryer was actually decent. Bed very comfy and air con was easy to use.
Cleaners in the whole hotel, rooms, toilets, restaurants…. Everywhere did an amazing job. The hotel was full and always spotless.
Breakfast loads of variety with good quality foods. This is an ideal hotel to explore the island from.
Things to consider for management:-
Bottle of water in room on arrival and a few milk cartons would be a nice touch for later arrivals like ourselves.
Not charging for the safe 15 euro a week should be included.
The parking if 15 euro a day is expensive (we parked in bays on street).
Pools says 22 degrees but felt like 10 and some of jets in indoor pool didn’t work.
I would stay here again.
