Overall levels of comfort and service you don't normally get at this price point. This is a hidden gem.
I mean if I'm being picky then the weak flush on the loo and hotels always put you near other guests, presumably to make it easier to clean the rooms, so there a bit of noise from adjacent guests but nothing serious. This is my second stay so I'm very happy overall. The breakfast is great and the sticky toffee pudding I had with my meal the evening before was next level. Some parts of the building are a little tired but for me that's its charm and if it keeps the price down great.
Lovely surroundings, quiet location, beds were comfy, staff very nice and helpful, shops and train station short distance by car, would stay again
A bit dated, could do with an upgrade of bathrooms, top water tap didnt flow properly, peeling paint on celling
Staff were brilliant, very kind and helpful
Weirdly the taps in the bathroom were a little too far from the sink so unless they were fully on the water didn't go in the sink
Lovely setting. Comfortable with friendly staff.
Basin tap was too short creating a pool around tap head. A small annoyance.
Good location, good breakfast and staff also good
The room was shabby and in need of updating, the bath was in very poor state and stained with the bed uncomfortable.
The staff are extremely friendly
The pillows were thin. Thete was no light in room only lamps so the room was very drab and dim., plug sockets away from bed in a empty corner.
The breakfast wad a farce, first day it was made to order, sausages tasted funny, eggs runny and everything dripping in grease, they only gave 1 egg 1 sausage 1 mushroom and half tomato 2nd day it was buffet breakfast had to wait 15mins for eggs but then everyone else was waiting so we didnt get any, had to stop the staff from picking eggs with the bacon spatula, told him to be aware of cross contamination and also vegetarians.
We booked out a night early and expkained why to reception, the lady was extremely nice and offered to change our room but we had already loaded the car
Great location for our stay & reasonably priced
Whilst clean it is “dated”
Breakfast was great , first time that I have enjoyed all the breakfast , I have stayed a few times now and usually it is a buffet style breakfast , always containing cold items because the hot trays really don't work , todays breakfast was cook to order and it was 20 times better . The location is a bit out of town , but Coulsdon doesn't have much in the way of alternatives . The bed was the biggest I have ever slept in and was very comfortable . Good sized television as well .
The rooms are all a bit dated , still very clean and my room was large and a bit gloomy because the lighting was not the best . The heating was not the best . A bit too far to walk into town so taxi was the only alternative as a non-driver . No way around that .
It was a convenient location for the venue I was visiting
I paid £30 more for my room than my friend who also stayed in a similar room at the hotel that night!
Charming hotel
Bit tired, could do with a decoration and some updating
Good value and free parking
The standard bedrooms are quite dated
