We have stayed here a number of times because it’s convenient for visiting family. It’s a good, clean and comfortable hotel apart from a couple of things which should be improved. The banquette seating in the bar area is ripped and very tatty-looking and it should urgently be reupholstered. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable but have only one easy chair with the table. A second one should be added. I hope that both of these suggestions are acted upon as they’re not too difficult or costly. Nevertheless, we will continue to choose this hotel for our visits to Cheltenham as the beds are comfy, the aircon is very welcome in summer, the food is generally fine and the staff are mostly very friendly and helpful.
Stayed here for four nights that included bed and breakfast plus two evening meals and wine. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary and were surprised to see that the staff had very kindly left us an anniversary card in our room when we arrived. What a complete shock, as I don’t remember mentioning this when I booked, but I must have done. The breakfast was buffet style and comprehensive. The evening meals were excellent. We stayed in a room on the ground floor and it was serviced each day. All the staff were pleasant and helpful as well as knowledgeable about the area. Would stay there again if we are in the area.
Normally never write a bad review but have to say what a poor poor experience we had this week...
Have booked many trips and breaks through Travelzoo which up to this point have been great value and excellent experiences! Unfortunately not on this occasion.
A 2 night inclusive break with Dinner on first night and breakfast on 2 mornings last a single night as the hotel and spa facilities were not as described to say the least. Spa was under construction with no prior notice of this to our trip and compact to put it mildly. Dinner included a PP 'allowance' which is standard for these type of breaks but the Menu was expensive for what was on offer and half the mains and desserts were not available at 7pm of service. So hardly a late reservation where we missed a rush... That said what was served was of a decent standard and taste even if portions and additional (paid for) accompaninents were tiny.
That was to be the high point!
Breakfast the next morning was horrendous. Never been to any establishment where they run out of bread!!! That as well as pastries were long gone by 9am and many who came in after us simply walked out as took 20 minutes literally for 'cooked' items to be replenished and 15 minutes to navigate the huge queue for a coffee... We did not expect much for the price we paid but this was shocking. An hour or so later I was physically ill and my party had bad stomachs that day too. We did not stay the 2nd night!!
When we felt well enough to check out the helpful receptionist actually asked me to email feedback of my stay as checking out so early but I still haven't had the courtesy of a response after 4 days.
Give this place a wide berth.
Overall our stay was very good apart from the first morning at breakfast when we had to queue for ages for everything! After advising the hotel of this it was much improved the following days!
The food was very average although quite pricey! Sometimes what you ordered wasn’t exactly what you got I.e. a friend ordered a salad that stated contained avocado but she had to ask for it!
Once issues were raised the hotel did try to sort them out!
Nice rooms. Food Sunday in restaurant very poor service very poor overpriced food , better food in Wetherspoons! Thank goodness for Toby carvery Monday night.
Location and atmosphère was lovely. The room was fine, to look at. However, the mattress had collapsed on one side leaving me sleeping on a slope the whole night. I was in so much pain that after a few hours I decided to try my luck on the floor instead. The floor was far more comfortable.
6 of us stayed here for a birthday celebration & murder mystery event. Had specificaly requested inter-connecting rooms, or at least 3 rooms together but terrible check-in experience on arrival. Initially the receptionist Claire couldnt find ANY of our names for the booking, and then only after 20 mins of looking after I had written them all down. Only 2 rooms were ready (this is at 3pm check-in) & the 3rd one not until 3:45pm!! Furthermore, the rooms were all far apart, one not even on same floor as others.
A stressful start and alot of time wasted for our short duration! I did complain to a manager but had no feedback, no apology & no contact in 3 days! Not the level of customer service I expected!!
This was our second break at this great hotel. We stayed four nights. The location on the edge of the Cotswolds is great with a view of the famous cheese rolling hill from the restaurant.
Our room was excellent with a coffee machine and complimentary drinks which were regularly refreshed.
I appreciated the first class breakfasts and also enjoyed dinner.
Also greatly enjoyed was the swimming pool and associated facilities.
We will certainly return as soon as opportunity presents itself.
Booked this hotel for a year for my wife's 40th.
This review in no way reflects the individual staff at The Chase. Our Spa treatments where great with the therapists giving us both relaxing massages that we requested and the room was air conditioned and comfortable.
The main problem is communication. We didn't find out that the spa facilities were limited until we got to reception. We were really looking forward to working out in the gym but it was closed for the week. The treatment rooms had been moved to hotel rooms, but that didn't reduce the experience in any way, but it would have been beneficial to have known this before, and maybe a price reduction?
The restaurant experience was sub par and felt very disorganised and poorly managed. It didn't seem particularly busy yet staff didn't seem to be available the majority of the time. It took an hour for the starters to arrive and then a further 1hr for mains to arrive with two of the dishes not presented as advertised on the menu, again no communication as to why this was the case. It seemed that staff weren't very efficient as our finished plates weren't cleared in an effective manner. We weren't the only table to complain. We ended up upping and leaving before being offered dessert as others had been waiting for too long also.
As you are probably aware, an organisations receptionist can either lose a customer/client or retain and encourage more.
Our check in was done by Harriet who was 100% professional, she spoke clearly, was concise and had a very pleasant demeanour.
The room, 207, was very clean and comfortable with adequate storage for clothes. The bed was comfortable.
The restaurant was good, the food well presented. There was an issue about which I complained but the complaint was dealt with promptly and to my satisfaction.
I would certainly recommend the Cheltenham Chase hotel to my friends.
The rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast is good. The only real downsides are people abuse the EV charging points and leave their fossil fuel cars blocking the spaces all day/night as there is no enforcement.
We booked our stay at Cheltenham Chase through a deal on Travelzoo. We were very pleased with the hotel. The room was comfortable and clean, the staff very friendly. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant along with our complimentary bottle of wine. The breakfast on both days was of a high standard and plentiful. We used the swimming pool, steam room, sauna and jacuzzi all of which were splendid. All in all we had a fantastic stay and would return. We highly recommend a stay there
Great hotel, only tvs are restricted and wont allow casting making entertainment in the evening limited
Tv to allow access to cast or firesticks
Clean. Comfortable bed. Free parking
Breakfast was poor quality. Cheap bacon. Biggest problem was that we only booked this hotel because of the gym. Checked on here and on hotel website to make sure. Look at photos etc. When we arrived we were told it was closed for maintenance. Well put it on the website then!! Clearly maintenance has to be done but we should have been told and we would have booked elsewhere.
Would have liked a full length mirror
Todo las habitaciones, el restaurante, el spa, el personal muy atento. El área de piscina y spa, estupendo!
Nada
It is a really lovely hotel. Dry modern. Lots of seating and lovely grounds. We had afternoon tea which was a little disappointing for the money. £27!!!! Four little dry finger sandwiches not presented the best. 3 little shop bought cakes (2 the same) and 4 scones for 1 person. (Who wants four scones). Very overpriced! Also ordered a pizza on the evening which was raw at the bottom. The food is overly expensive for the quality of the food. It’s a shame because everything is great. It also looks like the hotel is ran by kids!
Very friendly and helpful staff, kind and welcoming. The room was very spacious and well finished. I will definitely be staying again.
large rooms great facilities.
Gym was closed .
Breakfasts was very
Nothing
