Gone by the wind...
This was our second stay. We love Highland Lake. It is a nice quiet space. Our room was clean, attractive and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious with a nice view from the window of Seasons Restaurant. The location is very convenient to most every thing you would want to do.

Very nice staff, excellent restaurant!! beautiful grounds, so peaceful and quiet.
Room could be updated and brightened. Room 17 needs a smaller chair - or maybe 2 smaller chairs. screen door on balconey would be great so we could leave door open at night. chair or 2 on balconey would be nice, too.
Location
Restaurant was not open for dinner during our stay. I don’t believe it was mentioned when booking…
Our 4 night stay was wonderful. The suite we chose was so comfortable and well appointed. The breakfasts were very good, with many choices. We had a celebratory meal at Season's which was delicious. All the employees we had contact with were very professional, personable and helpful. It was a beautiful setting with the beginning Spring blossoms.
The rooms are quaint and make you feel at home. The breakfast (that is free with your stay!) is amazing!!! We make it a habit to stay at Highland Inn to celebrate our anniversary, and it does not disappoint.
Nice environment
A bit old
The atmosphere
Loved everything
Beautiful grounds, very friendly person at the front desk. Beautiful lake. Lots of potential!! I Understand that things were under construction for improvement and also probably as a result of Hurricane Helene but just inform your guests that this is going on at this time.
Bathroom sink in the room without any privacy, shower and toilet in super separate small space. all together very uncomfortable.
Otherwise good breakfast was lukewarm, so was the coffee. Coffee in room very poor quality. Breakfast space super noisy.
Tennis court was under construction and the fish pier was not usable because the entrance to it was broken and closed off. Two activities why we picked the place.
We paid extra for a balcony, which turned out to be a shared balcony. Other people smoking was not really appreciated by us and wondering why somebody moved around one of the separate chairs obviously meant for our room.
Our stay at Highland Lake Resort was very nice. Our rooms were very comfortable and clean. The staff was helpful. The breakfast was delicious! We will be back.
Excellent accomodations . Beastiful landsape. Courteous & friendly service. We'd go again & recommend to friends & family.
As soon as we got to the property, we realized that there was much more to the Inn than we thought. Sprawling across the hills of Flat Rock, this location hides from the world in it's own peaceful and beautiful haven. Everything seemed to slow pace in the most positive way.
Service with a genuine smile feels difficult to find in 2025. At Highland Lake Inn, they have it and make you feel like the center of attention, to make sure your every need is met.
When the kind desk clerk mentioned that there would be gourmet buffet for breakfast, I might have rolled my eyes a little. A new way to describe the plastic feel of most hotel food? No way! After three mornings in a row of delicious fresh breakfast options, I understood what gourmet buffet really meant. One word. Yum!
Few places I have traveled ever beckon me to return. They're useful in the moment but easily forgotten. Highland Lake Inn moved into a different category. I will remember it fondly and return often.
Thank you for the early December discounted mid-week rate! My husband and I came to plan our family Thanksgiving next year. Highland Lake has some pluses, and we will put it as a top contender.
My daughter got married at the resort and we all had a lovely time. All of the guests were able to stay on the grounds. The food was excellent and the variety of housing was perfect for everyone. We really enjoyed the fire pit and the hiking trails. Also the staff were so friendly.
We had a wonderful time at Highland Lake Inn and Resort. We stayed in the Primrose Cabin. The Cabins and the grounds were both beautiful. The fall leaves were still in color. It’s a great place just to walk the grounds. Breakfast at Seasons each morning was fresh and tasty. All the staff were nice and friendly. Will definitely stay again
Having been here for 6 years I can say that it is a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Feels like you are in the country, but is still convenient to the lovely towns of Hendersonville and Flat Rock. Everything is well maintained and the staff are very accommodating. The breakfast buffet at Seasons Restaurant is unbeatable and lunch and dinners are also great. My little poodle also thoroughly enjoyed her time in the country. I can highly recommend Highland Lake for a peaceful and beautiful get away.
PS The beds are very comfortable.
Wonderful!! We booked last minute just needing a hotel for a night in the Hendersonville area . This exceeded our expectations . Beautiful location and grounds , wonderful on site restaurant and historic comfortable accommodation . This is a hidden gem and will be one of our favorite places to stay .
