We were in the area and had really no other place to stay and ended up choosing this location. It looks charming and quaint from the outside but it's not great on the inside. I would not recommend.
We had I think the smallest room of the hotel, it was not clean, not safe and very noisy. A/C very loud and not efficacy. The breakfast saloon was not clean and the breakfast not so good. I do not recommend this hotel.
Overall a decent place to stay, especially for a last minute booked trip. Room was clean, air-conditioned, and bed was comfortable. Sink in bathroom was not draining properly and shower was cramped with a slanted ceiling. Breakfast is included but don't expect anything more than the most basic items. Lots of stairs to climb, not suitable for people with mobility or health issues.
First the pictures online didn't look like the hotel to me. When I cam into check in it was hot and the clerk moved slow. She was a very king woman and if you needed help she was happy to do so. I didn't know the deposit fee would be 200.00! To me the deposit was a crazy amount of money considering how poor of a hotel it was.
There are no elevators! So if you have heavy luggage be prepared to go up flights of swirly stairs to get to your room. The carpet was old, dingey, and dusty. When I got to the room it smelled like cigarettes, even my towels smelled like them. My room looked like a attic, you have no room to walk around much, everything was cramped together. What I thought was a closet was actually a tiny bathroom, you cant even open the door all the way because it hits the sink. you literally have to squeeze to get in.
Bed was comfortable, slept pretty well, and noise was low. Moring time to go eat breakfast was like trying to find your way out of a maze, downstairs go left, go right, go left again, go right again etc. etc. Once I arrived the smell of the kitchen was disgusting and the floor was dirty. I went to see what they had for breakfast all there were was bagels, maybe cereal I cant remember, coffee, and orange juice. So I didn't eat anything...... I'm just thankful during my stay there WASNT any rodents or bugs
The room was cramped with 2 queen beds. The complimentary breakfast was toast, yogurt, coffee, juice, and cereal - no fruit or protein. It's a short walk to the Metro and there are restaurants within walking distance. The parking is street parking or, for an additional charge, off street behind a wooden gate that the reception has to let you in and out of.
Great location close to the subway and food spots.
Hotel was clean and and comfortable.
Noisy A/C. Wall lamp defective - sparked. Steep staircases, no elevator. TV didn’t work.
Overall, this experience was lacking. Upon midday arrival (after waiting outside the locked main door for several minutes) the staff member gave no greeting, acknowledgement of the wait, or welcome to the hotel. Just strait to a demand for payment information. Almost every interaction with staff felt similar - not overtly rude, just deeply inhospitable.
In terms of room size, it was small, but for the price and neighborhood, i think it was fair. Location is good, its a short walk to main areas.
If you need to work during your stay, i do not reccomend doing so here. The 'business centre,' located in the basement, consists of a dresser (not a desk, so nowhere for your legs to go) and swivel chair that too high even at its lowest setting. Its a completely unworkable setup. Staff also played really loud music in the adjacent room despite seeing someone in there trying to work.
Overall, its located in a really cool old mansion, and the house has the potential to be incredibly charming. But for the above reasons i wont be choosing it again.
Nice layout
Very clean, small room, but tidy. Staff was friendly. Amazing real continued breakfast. Other than unclear parking instruments at the beginning, street parking) the stay was great.
The staff members were great and were really helpful when I asked for a refund for one of the nights, but the only thing that bothered me, is that it wasn’t fully cleaned, like you would find some areas that were forgotten to be cleaned.
But generally speaking, this is a good budget hotel and gets the job done.
Everything is great except for cleanness of my room.
Bed appears clean. Washroom is tight-if you’re a person of girth, it would not be suitable. The carpet is filthy. There is a loud noise coming from the room air conditioner, that is very disrupting for sleep. The front doors are locked, speaks volumes.
Well, not bad for a one night stay, does the job
Le bâtiment présente plusieurs problèmes notamment d’humidité et manque d’entretien.
Forte odeur d’humidité/egout dans l’espace restaurant où est servi le déjeuner : coupe sérieusement l’appétit.
Le service était en anglais seulement.
The double room is far too small. It may work for one person that’s staying for a short period of time. I barely fit in the shower. I probably should’ve requested a room change but the interaction with the front desk was odd. We got these awkward stares. Parking was an inconvenience since we had to continue moving the car. The stairs to get into the property are pretty steep. Checkout is at 11am but they knocked on our door beforehand asking when we were leaving. I’m glad we only stayed for two nights.
The hotel was sort of old European style badly maintained and quite infested. Free parking that comes with the room is actually an invitation to park on the street for a limited number of hours. Staff, even though they were polite and helpful, barely can speak English or French.
The room, like the hotel, was falling apart with doors missing hinges and electrical outlet coming off the wall. Yet, the continental breakfast was surprisingly delivered as promised.
Bathroom was dirty
Our room didn’t lock
The front desk told us we were checking in too late despite Expedia claiming 24 hour check in.
She couldn’t find our reservation and had to take a picture of it in my phone, took almost 30 minutes to check into our tiny room that didn’t lock.
The bathroom was very dark no light by the shower so have to shower in complete darkness.
Shower looked moldy, carpet in room was dirty.
Parking was a 5 minute walk away which didn’t feel super safe at night as several people asked us for money.
Historic property offering average accommodations. Food in attached restaurant was good.
Where do I start. Our room had no handle on the inside of the bathroom, so no one could use the bathroom without needing to be let out by another person in the room (extremely inconvenient!). Our dead bolt was also broken and we felt extremely unsafe. When we brought these issues up to the hotel manager he did nothing to accommodate us for these inconveniences. He told us he was fully aware of these issues and if we had brought them up sooner he would have switched our room but why would he put us in a broken room to begin with?!
