Location
9.5
Location and free/easy parking repeatedly praised; convenient for airport and local attractions.

Rooms noted as comfortable with good beds and 1920s decor, but many reports of very warm rooms due to broken AC, dusty furnishings and occasional damaged items (bathtub cover, office chair).
Amenities

Parking and period features praised, but the primary amenity issue is widespread non-working air conditioning (fans provided) and at least one report of a dusty fan.
Value for Money

Several guests called it good value for short stays and praised breakfast/parking; some dissatisfaction about being charged full rate and small tourist taxes, but overall value perception remains strong.
Food and Beverage

Accessible rooms are NOT accessible. Book at your peril.
Pros:

The refund arrived in my bank in a reasonable time frame. This is all. The hotel is a disgrace, and to be treating such a beautiful building as they are is bordering on criminal!

Cons:

The 'accessible' rooms are, frankly, not accessible! On arrival the receptionist took one look at me in my wheelchair and said that the accessible rooms don't have accessible shower facilities! I ended up accepting the room, as I was in a fix. I then struggled to traverse the corridors due to incredibly heavy wooden doors, fraying, spongy carpet and the corridors were littered with empty glasses and bottles. It was like the morning after a party! Upon entering the room (which I had to stand up from my chair for, and fell through the door due to the immense weight of the door) it was excessively hot. Apparently broken Air Conditioning actually means 'actively pumping heat into the rooms'. My dog was panting instantly. I made the return journey to reception to request a refund. A full and comprehensive complaint has been lodged.

It was ok. I’m not sure how it received its star rating
Pros:

It was in the perfect location for my stay

Cons:

No air con especially when Liverpool was in the middle of a heatwave.
I had to ask for my breakfast table to be cleaned again because it was done properly the first time.

Pros:

The Crowne Plaza Liverpool John Lennon Airport is well-located for airport access and sits close to a retail park featuring several fast-food chain restaurants. The building itself is a former airport terminal; it is a listed property packed with history and unique character. There is plenty of parking outside, which was easily sorted during our smooth check-in process.

The staff were very helpful, but it was clear they were understaffed and stretched thin—especially around breakfast time. This issue was compounded by a broken hot beverage machine, forcing staff to make all hot drinks manually. While the breakfast selection was acceptable, some of the food was cold because the restaurant wasn't very busy initially. Conversely, on Sunday morning, tables lacked forks because the room suddenly became packed with coach travellers who had stayed overnight.

Our room was well-proportioned and exceptionally well-cleaned and tidied throughout our four-day stay. However, the bathroom is screaming for new fittings; the tub is worn out and the toilet is heavily stained. Furthermore, while we were told the air conditioning was broken, we weren't prepared for the room to feel like a sauna. The heat was unbearable. A fan was provided, and the windows open slightly, but this made no meaningful difference to the Sahara-like temperatures we experienced inside the room. It was normal UK temperature for this time of year, but it actually felt cooler outside the hotel than inside our room.We also noticed a damp, musty smell downstairs in the main hotel areas. Whilst I accept that listed buildings are not straightforward in terms of maintenance, I also know of too many that have been successfully modernised to modern standards. It makes me wonder whether these issues are IHG systemic failures or just mere neglect within the hierarchy.

Housekeeping standards were excellent, but hotel maintenance fell short elsewhere.
