The room I booked was nothing like the picture. Furniture in the room was more like the 1980s.
Air con was non existent so they put a table top fan in.

It was clean and staff where very nice
The beds were a bit uncomfortable and rooms could do with updating.
They charged us to go in swimming pools and then after we paid told us the jacuzzi didn’t work. Also the steam room smelted horrible had to come out.
Not much bar area was ok enjoyed the ice cream
No hairdryer no fridge no AC in the bedroom bathroom really dated WC wouldn’t flush!
Breakfast we only had cereals fry up looked awful not cooked enough presentation poor glass had lipstick on not cleaned properly !
Windows in the bedroom wouldn’t open on a very hot day when we really needed them

Car parking could have been better
The property was in a good location, with plenty of parking spaces. It was very clean, lovely room, very comfortable bed and nice bathroom with a bath.

On arrival, reception had my room all ready with early check-in (12noon).
I was out for the afternoon, and returned early evening: It was a pity the pool closed at 8pm. I'd hoped for a dip before bed!
There were no real problems at all.... other than I booked the room through Parliament-Hill, who offer generous discounts on all manner of products from holidays (including the Grand Hotel) car purchase to household Items. But on arrival, the receptionist said the hotel never offers discounts, and had never heard of Parliament Hill. (I'm complaining to Parliament-Hill!) So, to sum up, there was nothing I disliked about the Grand- These comments are only here because there is no other suitable"box" available to put them.

The location is great and the allocated room was spacious enough for our access needs.
They now only provide one pillow per person, and the car park could use a few more disabled parking spaces.
Comfortable, free upgrade. Good location. This is always our go to hotel in the area.
Found a chocolate bar wrapper behind the beside cabinet when I went to plug my charger in. It was very dusty behind the cabinet and hasn’t been cleaned for a long time. I have been in hospitality/cleaning and know how tough it can be but these things are important.

The location. Situated close to Newcastle, beamish and the coast
Rooms were not cleaned/tidied unless requested and then not always. Booked a twin room but initially given a double and told we could move the next day. They did resolve this eventually. Pillows were very hard. Dining room closed to us one night because there was a coach party in. Safe hard to be attended to twice. A guests dog was allowed to sit on the chairs in the bar.
