I booked the grange portland hotel to be told i had been moved to the sister hotel on arrival. So we stayed at the grange Claredon. Id say it was a decent 2 star hotel but definitely not a 4 star.
POSITIVES
* The staff are so lovely, welcoming and helpful
* Great location - History museum 3 min walk, west end 20 min walk, soho/chinetown 20 min walk, camden town markerts 45 min walk, lots of shops nearby
* Nice breakfast
*Large room
NEGATIVES
* Hard Bed
* no blinds or curtains in the bathroom
* single glass in the windows so very noisy
* rooms very dated
* need a deep clean
Great location from Euston. Close to all underground and easy to get around. Comfy beds and friendly staff.
It was quite warm in the room but we opened the window and used the fan provided👍🏻
I really liked that my room was only £79.60 - that was my main reason for choosing Grange Clarendon. With its excellent location a few paces from Bloomsbury Square Garden I thought the price was great but didn't expect much from my room. I was quite wrong - I had an amazing room. It was downstairs (here we go, I thought, into a cupboard in the basement) but no - it was an old-fashioned large double room. There was a desk, a huge bed and masses of space. The bathroom was also vast - it all felt very luxurious. I was in town to see Pappy's Flatshare Slamdown in Cavendish Square and the George Clarendon was a comfortable 20-minute walk away, so perfectly placed. Had I been of a mind, I could also have perused Oxford Street but I opted for a late lunch in All Bar One instead. When I finally returned from a night of gallivanting I had a very good sleep in the comfortable bed. I have not seen the room at this price again, but when I do I will snap it up. A great location with very friendly staff.
It did not bother me but the room was quite noisy being just below road height and opening onto various air-conditioning units. If I have been visiting London for the peace and quiet it would have been a problem but since I was there just to sleep between events it was no trouble at all.
The location is very good and probably the only strong point of this hotel.
The hotel is advertised as 4 star, but in reality it feels closer to a 3 star at best.
Negative aspects:
The bathroom door would not close properly, and there was constant noise from the ventilation system that couldn’t be turned off. The room temperature could not be adjusted, which made the stay uncomfortable. The carpet looked old and not very clean. There was no bottled water in the room, and when I asked at reception, I was given tap water instead, which was disappointing.
Overall, the hotel does not justify its 4 star rating.
The room was spacious , tidy and always warm. The location was ideal for sightseeing with underground links within a short walking distance. The breakfast was continental with the additional option of a cooked breakfast for £5 which was great value and the service was always first class from very pleasant staff
Receptionist viktoria was lovely. Room very large and lovely traditional feel to the hotel. In a wide street with views of the gardens
Breakfast staff were stroppy, weren't offered to upgrade out breakfast to cooked. No air-con but there were 2 large fans in the room which worked well.
Meget centralt. Gåafstand til det meste.
Havde ikke lige været opmærksom på, at vi skulle spise morgenmad på et andet hotel længere nede af gaden.
The room was spacious
Breakfast wasn't available in hotel.Had to walk to other hotel for breakfast
This wasn't advertised as being the case
Buena ubicación y el personal amable
La moqueta pero es habitual en Londres.
I paid for a room I didn’t get, which was simply appalling. It was most likely a workers sleeping over bed ,very small with a single bed that sunk in the middle. The room was like a cupboard all white with a tiny window near the ceiling.When I complained the manager told me the problem was because I hadn’t booked directly with the hotel. I used booking. Com. After being told there were no other rooms available and a long waiting period, a suitable room was found. I was not a good start to my trip to London .
