reception area was clean and the air conditioner in the second room worked very well. With one notable exception, hotel staff (especially the cleaning staff) were polite and helpful.
The hotel required a photographic copy of my ID, even though neither the applicable regulation nor the clearly stated policy on Booking.com supports this requirement: “show” ID is not the same as "allowing to scan or photograph it". I will be reporting the incident and the hotel’s practices to the relevant authorities.
On arrival, I was assigned a room on the 2nd floor and confirmed that this floor would be fine for me. I then left before completing check-in to attend an event and to give the hotel staff time to check the regulations and realise that they could not demand what they were demanding. When I returned, I was assigned a room on the 4th floor instead. It was basically a cubicle, with the air conditioning blowing hot air, despite temperatures of around 30°C that week, and a tiny window that could not be reached. I then asked for the originally assigned room. While it was still very small, it was larger and had properly working air conditioning. I am not sure what that was all about.
The rudeness of the receptionist was both hard to understand and difficult to describe. Considering that there are already explicit (!) complaints about her in other reviews, referring to a “blond(ish) woman with glasses”, and that it is very apparent, that even when she is trying, her communication style seems more suited to a detention centre than a UK hotel, I can only wonder why management keeps her in a customer-facing role.
The cleanliness was only superficially acceptable. The towels and linen were fine, but the carpet and walls were dirty, I found food packaging in the back of the nightstand, and so on.
The location is somewhat strange. The street was surely once very nice, but it is obviously changing. There is a lot of trash everywhere, a very busy hostel right next door, and several neighbouring buildings had gloomy-looking young men hanging around on the porches at all times.

Proximity to bars restaurants and the tube station. Breakfast was ok but could have been much better. The pastries were a little soggy and no proper English bacon.
Rooms a little on the small side. The shaver electric point didn't work and when l reported it l was told it's probably not connected to the electric. Nothing happened about it.

L’emplacement, à proximité de plusieurs lignes de métro. Le personnel vraiment très sympa, on m’a accordé 1h de plus après mon Check out. L’hôtel est vraiment agréable, dans un quartier tranquille mais avec tout ce qu’il faut autour, la chambre très propre, salle de bain un peu petite mais très propre. Le ménage est fait tout les jours mais je n’en avais pas besoin. Les petites bouteilles d’eau à dispo, ce qui est important. Je recommande

One of the twin beds was very uncomfortable. It sagged in the middle. The location was good, but I’ve never stayed in such a small room. I would never recommend two people staying in this room. We are on top of each other the whole time.
