Really beautiful location and views with a lot of history
Pros:

Beautiful location and historical hotel

Cons:

The property was a little loud, but I believe that was because of the waterfall

lovely little getaway
Pros:

my partner and i live in portland, and have driven through hood river multiple times and found it very charming but have never spent much time there. we decided to stay at the columbia gorge hotel & spa for a couple nights during the off season and use it as our basescamp for various day hikes we'd planned on mt. hood and surrounding areas. the hotel grounds are lovely and well maintained, and the room was nice and fairly spacious as well. the staff was all very welcoming and helpful. we did not take advantage of the spa, as we just did not have time, but maybe during our next stay!

Great Spot for Romantic Getaway
Pros:

It had been years since we stayed at the Columbia Gorge Hotel. The trip from our home in Boring was a quick and easy 1 hour drive, which we loved noy spending hours driving to start our weekend of fun. We were welcomed by a fresh, elegant lobby and friendly reception staff. We booked our room last minute and we're delighted that we could check right to drop our things and go explore. We had our Golden Retrievers with us, which received a gift basket with food dishes, treats, and poo bags. When we got to our room we were impressed by the spacious corner spot with a lovely gas fireplace and beautiful view out the 3 (small) windows. We unpacked and set oit for a funeral day of wine tasting, shopping, museum exploring, and ended the night with a tasty dinner I'm the hotel restaurant.

Beautiful historic hotel
Pros:

My husband and I stayed here for a night away. What a beautiful hotel! It was a nice change from the chain hotels we usually stay at. The main areas of the hotel are thoughtfully decorated (loved the carpet and paint colors), as was our large and comfortable room. The staff were kind and helpful. We had one small issue with our room but the front desk was quick to help us resolve it. We didn't eat at the restaurant, but we did get drinks at the bar and the seating area near the bar was lovely and had a nice view. The huckleberry cocktail I had was delicious! The landscaping around the hotel is beautiful and it would be very nice to sit out back in nice weather. I would definitely come back for another romantic getaway.

Marvelous
Pros:

My husband and I greatly enjoyed our first experience at The Columbia Gorge Hotel! The staff were all friendly, professional and helpful. The food was top-notch, and the room very comfortable. A consideration may be to have a channel guide for the cable channels on TV - it is challenging to figure out which channel is what. Also, the min-fridge in room 303 may need adjusting. It froze our food rather than keeping it cool. That being said, we loved the riverside view and being able to stroll around the grounds and visit with the ducks. Great value, clean and quiet. We hope to come back!

Great hotel. Unexplored huge charge for pets.
Pros:

Lovely hotel, great grounds. Very comfortable, clean and quiet. My only complaint is being charged $50 EACH for two dogs, essentially doubling the cost. I understood on check in that it would be $50 total for both. That’s still high but not unreasonable. I would understand if it were a deposit and would be partially returned if there was no pet damage but, no. $100 to bring pets. We won’t be returning as a result and perhaps that’s the goal.
