The Hoban Hotel Killkenny

I was so impressed with the Hoban Hotel! I was traveling with a group of 41 for a high school school trip, and the staff members could not have been more kind and accommodating. The atmosphere is fantastic, the rooms and the breakfasts and dinners were great, but most of all I have to send a shout out to the staff! They went above and beyond in anyway they good to make our stay enjoyable! 10 out of 10!! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that is in the Kilkenny region!

Came for a family dinner for Mothers Day and we were so well looked after by Dez. Food, service and atmosphere was 10/10. Would highly recommend and we will most certainly be back.

The atmosphere in the Hoban is always warm and welcoming, a place we always enjoy going back to am the friendly faces that you encounter every time make the experience memorable. The service is always up to par and that is down to the serving staff especially Dez . The restaurant is always kept clean and tidy during every service . The location is very convenient with on site parking and would 10/10 recommend

Went here for lunch with my kids & grandchild. The food was lovely & the service was very good. Our server was Johnny & he looked after us very well & interacted with our grandchild which she loved.

My experience at this hotel was excellent, my family and I went for dinner as a celebration and it was fantastic the food is wonderful and the Staff are so helpful and friendly witch really make the experience here that much more special. It’s not my first time here and certainly won’t be my last !!

I had a 2 night stay at the Hoban Hotel. Reception was busy when I arrived to check in , bar was busy and the restaurant. Receptionist was friendly and helpful. Plenty of car parking available.
My room was on the ground floor, with a walk in shower as requested . The window and vents were not closing properly, I tried to close both but could only manage the window
. I rang through to reception and within 2 minutes a lady came to fix /close it . I did however hear car noises in the evening but used ear plugs at night. The bed was extremely comfortable and the shower was really nice.
I had breakfast on my first morning it had a good choice of food both hot and cold.

Lovely food in this hotel and great value! And always a warm and friendly greeting from Des and the team.

We stopped by this hotel on the way back from the south for a bite to eat and it was great , the food was very nice and the staff were Truely welcoming , The hotel it self was very nice and overall enjoyed our meal , one slight downside is the wait for the food but the wait was worth the meal

From check-in to check-out, it was a thoroughly enjoyable stay-a hidden gem in Kilkenny! The room was spacious and modern, with a very comfortable bed and an enormous shower. I had dinner in the restaurant and the beef was outstanding- highly recommended! The lady who served me (I didn’t catch her name) was incredibly friendly and provided excellent customer service. The location was great as well.

Visited here with company for Christmas dinner was terrible. Would have stayed the night but a manager called Catherine was very rude

We went for dinner at the Hoban restaurant, Des looked after us. He was very friendly and welcoming. Great service and delicious food. We already can’t wait to go back

We purchased a self driving tour online throughout Ireland and our travel agent booked us at the Hoban hotel. We were very happy with these accommodations as the rooms were spacious and the breakfast buffet was delicious and reasonably priced. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff too.

Food is great dez is very pleasant and great to make sure u have everything u need rooms is very good warm izzy is always smiling great to see to very hard workers

We recently had a 2 night stay and were very impressed indeed on all counts! We had booked online from Australia a couple of months ago, motivated by the 20% discount, breakfast included and the additional treat of a free drink with lunch or dinner.
We received a very warm greeting from the receptionist when we arrived, and were thrilled by both the size and spotless condition of our room, which was well maintained during our stay.
Our dining room experiences were also top notch, enjoying both the extensive breakfast buffet and delicious dinners. Special mention needs to be made of dining room staff Dez and Johnny, both of whom rendered friendly and excellent service.
We highly recommend this hotel for consistent excellence in all areas.

I stayed at the hotel while in the city on business. The location is fine however, it would not suit guests who want to be within easy reach of Kilkenny city itself.

I had dinner in the hotel restaurant. Service was efficient and staff were pleasant, but the food was average and did not represent good value for money, especially when compared to several very good restaurants located very close to the hotel. It is convenient, but I would consider it a last resort rather than a destination in its own right.

Breakfast was disappointing. The overall offering was extremely basic. The hot food was acceptable but overly salty. The bread selection was fine, although the brown bread was clearly supermarket sourced. Pastries were average, the cereal selection was very limited, and there were no cold meats or cheeses available, which is unusual for a hotel breakfast. The coffee was particularly poor and well below what would be expected.

What really detracted from the breakfast experience was the lack of professionalism during service. Staff repeatedly came in to use the coffee machine while guests were queuing, standing directly behind diners, which was uncomfortable and off putting. It was also clear that some staff members were being accommodated in the hotel and were coming down to breakfast while guests were dining, dressed in an unpresentable manner. This felt inappropriate, especially given the signage throughout the hotel asking guests to adhere to dress standards.

Overall, in a very competitive hospitality environment, the experience did not meet expectations. While the hotel offers convenience for certain business stays, the food offering and service standards would need noticeable improvement to justify choosing it over other nearby options.

A super weekend and the staff were amazing thanks thanks to all. Especially johnny and Mag who were very friendly and couldn't be more helpful
