Email from venue asking if we’d like an upgrade and to state a price willing to pay. .Emailed back stating yes and offered price but no response given and no upgrade on arrival
Dinner and breakfast were super, delicious.
Amazing 1400s gatehouse entrance with original features inside the restaurant eg wood wall panelling, huge fireplace and ornate ceiling. All the staff were really friendly, the food/drink was great and reasonably priced (£7 glass of Prosecco), everywhere was very clean and my bedroom was spacious and comfortable.
Some of the back parts of the property needed a lick of paint but this didn’t impact my stay at all and they are clearly in the process of sorting this out. I think they could make more of the age of the gatehouse etc with more plaques and info, but the staff themselves were very knowledgeable.
No photos on website of the spa which worried me when booking but it was fine - decent sized pool, big jacuzzi, smart steam room and sauna.

Beautiful place, wonderful rooms. A very comfortable bed. I had a great breakfast in the morning, a very large selection of food. The pool is cool and the hot tub is extra
Very easy to get to, me and my husband stayed here for our 8th year anniversary and the staff were so friendly and helpful, on arrival we were met at reception by a lovely lady who gave us a complimentary room upgrade to a lake side cabin - which was absolutely amazing! When the manager over heard it was our anniversary he had a celebration drink delivered to our room which was so lovely! The staff went above and beyond, nothing was too much, the views and grounds are so beautiful, we walked around the perimeter of the golf course. The room was huge, bed was comfy and we made full use of the spa and swimming facilities on site, the hotel supplied shampoo, conditioner and body wash as well as soap and body lotion, the swimming pool facilities had the same in the showers which was so handy as we forgot to bring ours! There is also a hair dryer in both the leisure centre and the room. Overall we had a great stay here and I couldn’t fault it!
Not enough parking round near the lake where the room was but the main car park was only 2 minutes walk away
