Facilities, comfort
Poor standard of evening meal
Excellent
Spa hot tub was to chemically and steam room not hot enough. Only dissapointment.
I booked this hotel for my fiancé’s birthday and it was an amazing experience for her and also for myself. I booked the Tintern suit 420 and it was perfect, the only thing we had a slight issue with was that the pillows were way too soft but we asked for another pillow each and were given two more pillows delivered to our suit within 10 minutes which we thought was great. The staff were so friendly at every stage of our stay. The facilities such as the spa and gym were just perfect, the bar staff were great and helped us to find local attractions. I must say our favourite part was the breakfast and the team that work on providing everyone with such a great spread. We had dinner in the restaurant and that was also amazing. I wouldn’t change any part of our experience with you and would like to thank you for making my fiancé’s birthday feel so special. We will definitely come back to stay in the future.
Other than the pillows of which was sorted immediately there is nothing we disliked whatsoever
Beautiful building in beautiful surroundings
How old it was
Decent grub, wait time was fine. Friendly staff, served by a lovely young man called Kip. Would recommend.
The restaurant environment was excellent
The bed was a bit small could have been a king size and the window would not open
First class facilities, particularly the breakfast.
Serious need of a refurbishment
Bed very uncomfortable
I hope you are well.
I am writing to raise some concerns regarding our recent stay on 17 January, which unfortunately fell well below the standard we have come to expect.
Last year, I emailed to explain that I was booking a night away as a thank-you treat for my wife, who has been incredible in caring for me during a period of illness. I asked whether an upgrade might be possible, fully understanding that this could not be guaranteed. I was grateful to receive a kind response indicating that you would accommodate this if possible. While I appreciate that upgrades cannot always be honoured, nothing was acknowledged on arrival.
On the day of our stay, we were unable to check in until 4:30pm, which resulted in us missing our scheduled spa experience. We were also not offered the option to store our luggage behind the check-in desk, meaning we had to carry it around with us.
The room itself was disappointing. It was located at the furthest end of the hotel, with a very depressing view, and appeared extremely tired. The furniture was worn, there was a suspicious brown stain on the carpet, and most concerning of all, there was make-up on the duvet which was not ours. Additionally, we slept poorly due to holes in the curtains, allowing light to shine through early in the morning.
We chose not to dine in the restaurant and instead opted for a more informal meal in the bar. Unfortunately, there was no sirloin or rump steak available, leaving us with no option but to order a £34 prime fillet steak, which was average at best. Despite spending several hours in the bar and a considerable amount of money, the tables were not cleared from previous guests, leaving us sitting in mess for a prolonged period.
After dinner, we ordered espresso martinis. When we asked for a second round—40 minutes before the bar was due to close—we were told this was not possible as the coffee machine was being turned off.
It was really nice experience, the ambience and staff are brilliant i also want to mention Gemma Olha she was great with us best service definitely recommend this place, we were here for our anniversary we got compliment drinks as well
We were in room 400, with a balcony overlooking the lake, which was really beautiful. It's only a minute walk from the main hotel, in what is called Lake Village. It is a modern part of the complex.
Room was very spacious as was the lovely bathroom. Really nice toiletries, but no bath robes.
Plenty of tea and coffee.
Huge bed, which was very comfortable.
Gym was fabulous, recently updated and very top quality machines.
Spa and pool were great and jacquzi was wonderfully hot. Again no robes offered, so nowhere to store the key to your locker or cover yourself if lounging around the pool.
I had a full body massage with Annouska, which was top notch, although disappointingly on 45 minutes, they are usually 60, so a bit odd. Very good value at £79.
Breakfast was first class and plenty of choice, really enjoyable.
Dinner was awful and I would not recommend eating there, the steak, supposedly a ribeye at £34 was inedible, and so overcooked, more like the sole of a shoe. Hot starter served on an ice cold plate and when I mentioned it, the young waiter offered to warm the plate, missing the point that hot food on a cold plate goes cold, as indeed it was. All the food heavily over salted. It really was pretty atrocious, to be honest. Took one hour and six minutes for our mains to arrive and given there were only 2 other tables being served, there was no excuse really.
All staff we came into contact with were pleasant,, in particular the receptionist who checked us out and dealt with the issue of dinner in a very professional manner.
It is a shame dinner was so awful as everything else was fabulous.
I would definitely recommend the hotel and the breakfast, but would suggest readers eat elsewhere in the evening.
Excellent Sunday roast dinner, best I've eaten in the local area.
The restaurant staff are great, very helpfull and friendly, 10/10!!!!!
