Facilities
Room was old and dated, cracks in ceiling and curtains hanging off the rails. Room 441. We were informed on booking in that we were getting a room upgrade, there were in fact lies as we got the room we paid for. This has been the fourth time we have stayed here, but unfortunately the last.
The best breakfast I have ever had in a hotel
The weather
+ Rooms can be adjoined which is nice.
+ Golf court and hotel grounds are well looked after.
+ Good gym facilities.
+ 12pm check-out was great.
+ The staff were really pleasant and welcoming.
- Not a lot of hot vegetarian breakfast options.
- The room we stayed in had a lot of dead bugs everywhere and looked like it could do with a clean.
- Only lamps for lighting which is strange.
- Tank based water system which wasn't mentioned so not everyone can enjoy a bath!
Hotel room as expected for a Marriott. Good restaurant with tasty options. Friendly, helpful staff.
Several parts of the hotel were tired and dated
Lovely buildings and grounds well kept
Late night check in…..staff confused two rooms. map drawn insufficient to find in dark 20 mins to find …
Was refused breakfast as it was up as room only was going to pay when I found confirmation breakfast included …
Found sheet with hole and a burn mark around it 12 midnight
to late to call staff change
The hotel was a beautiful historic building which I particularly liked. We had a nice room - clean and comfortable.
We had dinner in the restaurant. My husband requires Gluten Free food but there was only one main meal on the menu which he could eat - there should have been more choice. Likewise the dessert menu offered him nothing other than ice cream. I expected at least one GF cake/pudding type dessert to be offered. Also, the hotel had run out of Peroni GF beer! He is not a wine drinker so we ordered a pint of larger for him which took nearly 45mins to arrive at our table after asking a waitress twice more as to where his drink was. My cheesecake dessert was a stodge served in a glass - not good.
Location and main building
Room was poor - too hot as it was upstairs in a poorly insulated building. Noisy as people outside in the courtyard smoking / chatting / laughing late at night. Room needs a makeover
The front was beautiful as was the golf course.
When you got up the lodge where our room was it was like a Travel lodge, the furniture was dark heavy and old fashioned. The room looked on to the lake but bizarrely you could only look at it while standing, it would have made so much difference to be able to sit down with a Prosecco but it seemed like a really bad design to not have long windows. The bar was understaffed with large with queues.
Beautiful grounds and beautiful and spacious cottage room.
No air-conditioning, although thank you for the fans but it was very uncomfortable
