Voldoende voor 1 nacht

Beschikbaarheid en ligging.

Cons:

De naam van het hotel begint met Royal. Misschien ooit en lang geleden. Dat us het zeker niet meer. Ik positioneer het op een typisch doorsnee Engels hotel met eigenaardigheden. Mijn hotelkamer en zeker de badkamer mag een grondige update hebben. Douchen in een bad, onder een schuine kant en met een klef gordijntje is echt niet meer van deze tijd. Om een raam te openen moest ik op een stoel klimmen om erbij te kunnen en in 1e instantie was ik bang om er iets aan kapot te maken bij het openen. Het sanitair en vooral tpilet spoelt niet goed door. Verder is het allemaal erg gehorig en beweegt de houten vloer zelfs als er iemand langs loopt over de gang. Ontbijt in buffetvorm lijkt mij ook efficiënter dan wachten tot het uitgeserveerd wordt.

Eigenlijk alles een oud pand waar eigenlijk de naam hotel niet waardig is.En het is een doolhof om bij je kamer te komen.Kachels in de kamer die je niet uit kon zetten.
Personeel wat heel ongeintresseerd was/is.Bij aankomst restaurant dicht Eten was ook niet al te best,ontbijt werd gevraagd of je een full scottisch ontbijt wou eerste dag ging dat wel maar de dag erna bestond dat uit 1 zielig eitje een stukje Bacon vaneen cm of 5 een worstje en een kwart pancakje en wat toast. Mijn advies wees wijs en blijf daar weg.

A very basic hotel

The Hotel is dated and really needs an update. Floors are very uneven, bathrooms are dated. They ran out of toast at breakfast and had no gluten free option, nothing..
Staff were not that pleasant at breakfast.

Surprisingly Pleasant
Pros:

Checking in was easy. Parking is also free. We had to make a last minute booking (within an hour on the same day) and they manage to accommodate us! The room was pleasantly comfortable. Despite the hotel being quite old, the maintenance is good. Heaters are working and the premise is relatively warm and comfortable.

Cons:

The room is not very sound proof. I can hear steps and traffic in my room. But at night, it is relatively quiet. So, my sleep was undisturbed.

Pros:

The location was close to the bus stop and for the supermarket, town shops and the beach. The staff were mostly friendly, the room was clean and the bed comfortable enough.

Cons:

It is located on a main road and extremely noisy at night, especially over the weekend. The shower, although hot doesn't have a lot of force. Getting to the room required navigating many doors and stairs, not suitable for anyone with mobility issues or heavy suitcases.
The walk to the ferry terminal is quite a distance, 45 minutes.
The breakfast was awful. The only choice was prepackaged cereal or full Scottish breakfast. I didn't receive what I requested. I made use of the nearby cafe for breakfast after this experience.

I can’t believe there are still properties out there that can sell rooms as bad as this.
Pros:

Not very much - staff were not keen to interact and it seems one key fits all rooms 🫣

Cons:

It was dated and hasn’t had an upgrade this side of 2000 - there was a clear language breakdown and breakfast was on hotplate since last week.
