It is an ancient and elegant structure but with all the modern comforts. The staff is professional and ready to help, breakfast was really good and a special mention goes to the signature afternoon tea, highly reccomended. The position is strategic, close the underground station.
A gorgeous beautiful hotel. The staff are well trained and very courteous
Decor and room
Great location, exceptional room and very pleasant staff
Nothing
Room was nice and clean. Lovely bathroom.
The mini bar fridge wasn't working properly as it didn't keep any thing cool/cold. The fella at the reception wasn't very friendly, just got a bad vibe from him.
Location
Staff very helpful and friendly.
Nothing to not like
Always wonderful to stay at Jesmond Dene house and we brought my elderly parents for a special occasion. The team were fantastic and Abby went above and beyond to make everything go smoothly. We highly recommend the assisted room 6 which was perfect for my parents and shower stand and toilet raise were thoughtfully provided unasked. Lovely food, spaces and relaxation.
This hotel is an oasis sitting in the heart of Jesmond, Newcastle. Beautiful architecture and gardens, well equipped room (recommend the Armstrong Suite) and a lovely garden room for breakfast. The service was always friendly and polite. A few minor niggles in the room, that should now be rectified :)
A beautiful place to stay. Lovely location & such a charming hotel. Deluxe double room was very comfortable and we had a lovely surprise balcony with outdoor seating area. Small plate of sweet treats with a welcoming note in room on arrival was a nice touch. Excellent breakfast. Staff so welcoming & friendly. Hope to plan another visit later this year. Would highly recommend
We stayed at JDH for our daughter's wedding and reception in June 2026 and the whole event was absolutely superb...beyond our expectations. Hannah and her team coordinated to perfection and nothing was too much trouble. Our accommodation above the Grand Hall was beautifully presented, comfortable and airy (despite the hot weather) with fans to keep the air as cool as possible. All the guests commented on how lovely the day was and this is in no small part to the setting, hospitality, quality of the food and drink and the welcome we all felt from the JDH team. If you are thinking about a place to stay in Newcastle upon Tyne, or a venue for a Wedding reception and accommodation for guests look no further that JDH! We thought it was superb and a huge thank you to Hannah and her team.
Gorgeous 19th century house, amazing location
The shower drain was very loud and gurgled a lot
It would have been nice for the staff to let us know a wedding was happening on the Saturday, the music afterwards was situated directly opposite our window
Great location for the city due to the Metro
Na
Got upgraded from superior to deluxe room no complaints about the room it was lovely
Very slow service, no hairdryer in the room, food mediocre
Very pretty and nicely decorated place
staff very friendly
What a truly wonderful place this is an absolute hidden gem. I went with my girlfriend and stayed in a very luxurious room with a hot tub. we had such a fantastic time we were celebrating our anniversary we had champagne and chocolate strawberries waiting for us.and dined in the evening for a nice meal the food was absolutely fantastic and the service was faultless. we will definitely be returning thanks again.
We had a lovely one night stay at Jesmond Dene House hotel. The location is excellent for proximity to Newcastle and we're aware of some lovely walks, cafés and a bakery in the area.
The hotel is in a peaceful location with beautiful grounds. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. We had a lovely conversation with the receptionist who laughed and joked with us.
The accessible room we stayed in had a tiled bench in the shower with a handheld shower and rainfall which could both be on at the same time. The room was equipped with a fan. The bed was quite high which might be a problem for some people. The room and bathroom were all clean and had so many lovely extras. Some handmade sweet treats with a kind note to welcome us, a selection of teas and coffees, comfortable bathrobes and fresh towels. There was also conditioner along with the shampoo and body wash in the shower - those with longer hair will know that's often not the case in many hotels!
We had an excellent night's sleep. If there were guests in the rooms above or next to us we didn't hear them. Breakfast was excellent, and we enjoyed the continental breakfast buffet which would have been more than enough for us but we did each get something off the cooked breakfast menu as well.
We had a hotel voucher to use so we only paid a little bit extra to stay, but the hotel went beyond our expectations. We hope to come back one day!
