Location was ideal for our visit.
All the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Breakfast and evening meal was a delight.
Visited today for a 70th birthday afternoon tea and unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing.
When booking, we specifically requested the conservatory area. However, on arrival we were seated in the main room and told the conservatory was “too busy”. Service throughout was very poor. We waited a long time before anyone came to the table and were not initially provided with a tea menu. When we asked for one, the server said they were very busy and would “try”. We were then handed vegan menus and told our menu would be “the same but not vegan” as they had no others available.
When asking for additional tea, some guests received fresh pots, however one guest was asked whether she would be happy with just hot water so she could reuse her tea bag because they had run out of teapots and were too busy. For a venue with the reputation and pricing of Jesmond Dene House, this was unacceptable.
At the end of the meal, our plates remained uncleared while three staff members were occupied decorating the conservatory area with birthday banners rather than serving tables or clearing dishes. To make matters worse, a 10% service charge had automatically been added to the bill despite the poor service. After payment, a waitress then returned to the table stating we still owed an additional £15.
The food itself was nice, however the overall experience fell far below expectations and did not reflect the standard, service or value we expected for such a special occasion.
Jesmond Dene house, wonderful staff and atmosphere. There was nothing the staff wouldn't do to make our stay comfortable and catered to every need.
Recommend a taxi from metro as on a hill. We stayed in the Noble suite and had all creature comforts expected of a ***** hotel, it was a very special stay.
Thank you Abby, Nicole, Dean, Josh, Inna & Lana for making our stay so memorable! We would love to stay again and recommend
The surroundings were beautiful and our room was very spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed eating at the hotel. Excellent menu choices and very tasty food.
The toilet in our room was very low. My husband has had mobility problems and struggled to use it.
We had to remind the waiting on staff that our order hadn’t been taken on two separate occasions.
How peaceful it was
Was a bit cold at night
I have stayed at Jesmond Dene on several occasions, returning with family and friends. It's always a pleasure. The building is lovely, in a beautiful location. The staff are professional, approachable and accommodating. Thank you to the gentleman who helped when my daughter popped across and wasn't feeling well and to the lovely lady, on reception, with her colleague. The breakfast was great too!
Booked to take my partner on a first visit back to my home town of Newcastle. The staff were wonderful, accommodating and welcoming. The setting of the hotel is beautiful and the room was just lovely, lovely big bathroom and huge bath. Comfortable and cosy with lovely green views from the window. Would really recommend this as a special stay within very easy reach of the town centre (metro really close by) and with nature of the Dene on your doorstep. Would absolutely stay here again.
Lovely all round great location and beautiful grounds
The staff are so helpful they go above and beyond and did all they could to help me extend my stay on an ongoing basis due to family in hospital .
Wonderful helpful staff as always, giving me a gorgeous upgrade to a junior suite made my day. Always great food, luxurious rooms, well stocked snacks and mini bar, huge shower and bath in my room this time. It was so good to come back to my room after a really stressful day and lounge on the sofa, windows open, warm breeze and sunshine coming in. So quiet and peaceful especially overnight. Oh and coffee from the lovely machine in room. was fab!
The QR code to get to the guest pack and menu is a great idea! However the room service menus aren't clear as to what is served on which days? Lounge and bar menu wasn't online. Would be an easy fix just to update the website.
Lovely location
Another wonderful stay at Jesmond Dene House. What an absolute gem and located in a beautiful spot. I always stay here when visiting my son in Newcastle. Abby and all the team are just fabulous and make you feel so welcome. The rooms are lovely and the food is scrumptious. Can’t recommend it highly enough, especially if you are a single female travelling with your pooch. Dogs are so well catered for too, a proper “dog friendly” hotel unlike some I have stayed at in the past!
A wonderful hotel! Accommodation staff food friendliness all exceptional. A very individual experience at every visit. Cannot rate it highly enough.
Elegant and peaceful
Nothing really significant would have liked a bath in the bathroom but only a shower available ( but very nice!)
Excellent service, fantastic location. Very good breakfast. Extraordinary building.
Breakfast was lovely and well served. Communal rooms were well furnished and relaxing.
Originally we were slightly disappointed not to be in the main building but it was fine.
Breakfast is always excellent. Well presented and deliecious
