Good food, okay stay but not up to the hype
Pros:

I find the Bun Bo Hue and Pho in morning breakfast were very good as a local. However, the room was outdated and rundown. Attention to details needs improvement

Wonderful and a very pleasant experience. Will surely return.
Pros:

I found the hotel staff to be very polite and courteous. I was very impressed with Quyen Nguyen (Ms.) at the front desk. She was very obliging and made sure that my requests were attended too promptly. The Hotel offers excellent amenities and is well located close to the heart of the city.

Thank you for making my stay a memorable one.

Cons:

A bit more flexibility on late check-out requests by hotel guests.

Park Hyatt Saigon — 2 Nights, First Time Stay
Pros:

Not a Hyatt member (I’m IHG Platinum Ambassador and Marriott Platinum), but booked this one through the Amex Platinum Fine Hotels + Resorts program — Park Hyatt falls under their 5th category with $600 in annual credit ($300 semiannually). Ended up paying just $63 for 2 nights with breakfast included, plus a $100 property credit and 4pm late checkout. Hard to beat that value.

First impressions: Landed after a 5-hour flight from Japan and checked in close to midnight. First thing I noticed — a musty, humid carpet smell from the lobby elevator all the way to my room. The elevator sign claims hourly disinfecting, but the smell was pretty noticeable late at night. By morning it seemed masked better, maybe by the lemongrass and citrus scent they diffuse through the hallways.

Room: Twin beds, but the room itself felt small compared to what I’m used to at Sheraton properties. I was told at check-in that I’d been “upgraded” to room 422, but that turned out to match my original booking category exactly — so more of a room assignment than a real upgrade. Worth knowing that upgrades here are subject to availability and not always what they’re presented as.

Overall the hotel leans into a French colonial, minimalist aesthetic — well kept on the surface, but look closely and you’ll spot wear and tear in the bathroom grout.

The one thing that genuinely got me: After 4 weeks bouncing between Vietnam and Japan eating nonstop and dealing with the inevitable digestive backup that comes with it, I finally needed relief — and discovered that a supposed top-5 luxury hotel in Saigon doesn’t have a “BUM-GUN” in the bathroom. For a hotel at this price point and prestige level, that felt like a real miss.

Checkout confusion: Despite being told at check-in that I had a guaranteed 4pm late checkout as part of my FHR booking, the front desk called to ask when I’d be checking out — which felt like it undermined a benefit that should’ve been noted on file. Minor, but for a hotel operating at this level, these details matter.

What redeemed it: Breakfast was excellent — a la carte menu with both small and regular portion options, nice touch for flexibility. And the real standout was the Tamarind Amaretto Sour at Lam Son Bar — hands down the best cocktail I’ve had anywhere in Vietnam.

Bottom line: Beautiful on the surface, great value through Amex FHR, but the carpet smell, the checkout mix-up, and missing bidet knocked it down a notch. Would still return for that cocktail alone.

Stunning and Classy
Pros:

This is one of the most beautiful, elegant and classy hotels I've ever stayed in. It comes at a slightly higher price point but totally worth the splurge when visiting Vietnam. Still much cheaper than what you'd spend on this caliber of hotel in the US. Complimentary use of the steam room where I was served tea and a ginger and lotus, easy check-in, beautiful rooms, great location. The breakfast buffet was delightful as well, try the pho and banh mi. Will return on my next trip to Vietnam!

Old world charm
Pros:

Park Hyatt Saigon is an oasis of peace and calm amidst the hustle and bustle of HCM city. Smack in the middle of district 1, it is within walking distance of many attractions such as the Opera House, independence palace, Japan street, walking street and shopping malls.

Hotel is a tad old in the classical manner and charming, tip top facilities with a very nice pool and fitness centre. Rooms were well appointed and clean, but be aware that the shutters don’t blackout the room totally.

It’s a very good stay for the price I paid and I look forward to returning.

First time in Saigon
Pros:

It is the best location if you are visiting Saigon for the first time or traveling for sightseeing. Most popular restaurants and shopping spots are within a 15-minute walk.
I have traveled abroad extensively, but the staff at this hotel were the friendliest of all.

Outstanding hotel and experience.
Pros:

This is a wonderful hotel! Very elegant, excellent service from beginning to the end! Every single person that we interacted with! We were fortunate to get an upgraded room. So we have a very large spacious Park Executive Suite - we had booked a Lam Son Suite, so our room was a quite a bit larger than expected. The bed is VERY comfortable and the amenities outstanding. Very well stocked and excellent housekeeping. I particularly liked that they provided bath salts each day!! The concierge was exceptional - answering so many of my questions before we arrived and during our visit. In fact all of the staff was wonderful. I loved the pool - which was a relaxing way to spend the afternoons and surprisingly refreshing! the water was the perfect temperature. I regretted not booking a Spa service since the Spa looked very nice. In terms of meals, the breakfast was outstanding and an excellent value. Square one - their restaurant was ok, but we did not enjoy the afternoon tea very much. The location of the hotel is excellent. Overall a wonderful experience and we highly recommend.

What every hotel should strive to be like.
Pros:

Park Hyatt Saigon exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, every detail was handled with genuine warmth and professionalism.

The hotel itself is beautiful, with timeless décor that feels elegant rather than overdone. The location is outstanding—right in the heart of District 1 and within easy walking distance of many of the city’s best restaurants, cafés, shopping, and attractions.

The service is what truly sets this hotel apart. Every member of the team was consistently friendly, attentive, and eager to help. They made us feel genuinely welcome throughout our stay

The food was excellent, the bar had a fantastic atmosphere , and every part of the property was impeccably maintained. It’s clear that the hotel takes great pride in delivering a world-class guest experience.

I’ve been fortunate to stay at many luxury hotels around the world, and Park Hyatt Saigon ranks among the very best.
I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ho Chi Minh City.

Disappointing Leadership Overshadowed an Otherwise Lovely Stay
Pros:

My husband and I are Hyatt Globalist members because we've intentionally chosen Hyatt properties over the years. We recently stayed at Park Hyatt Saigon, and while the hotel itself is beautiful and nearly every staff member we encountered was warm, gracious, and professional, one interaction unfortunately overshadowed the entire experience.

Before I even interacted with Front Office Manager Laura Le Breton, I watched her repeatedly interrupt and correct a Vietnamese colleague who was warmly explaining the hotel's amenities to me. Rather than allowing her colleague to finish, Laura corrected her multiple times in front of me. Later, I witnessed her speak sharply to another Vietnamese employee in a way that felt unnecessarily dismissive.

As a Vietnamese American returning to Vietnam, it was deeply uncomfortable to witness.

The following day, Laura stopped me and abruptly asked, "Where is your husband?" She explained that because the reservation had been booked under his Hyatt account using points, I could not remain at the hotel unless he was present. She did this in front of staff and a number of hotel guests. It was deeply uncomfortable to say the least.

I completely understand Hyatt's policy regarding award stays. My issue was never the policy. It was the way it was communicated. The interaction felt abrupt and accusatory rather than welcoming. We ultimately resolved the matter over email, but the experience left a lasting impression.

Hospitality is about making guests feel respected. It's also about how leaders treat their colleagues. In both respects, Laura's conduct stood in stark contrast to the kindness and professionalism shown by the rest of the Park Hyatt Saigon team.

I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously because the hotel itself deserves better leadership at the front desk.

Misleading pricing and disappointing food quality
Pros:

We booked the afternoon tea at Park Lounge approximately one week before our visit. The booking confirmation clearly stated “1 × Afternoon Tea Set” at VND700,000. The photograph on the booking page appeared to show a portion intended for two guests, and nowhere on the page did it clearly state that the price was per person. It was therefore reasonable for us to understand that VND700,000 was the price for one afternoon tea set, rather than the price for each guest.

Before being seated, we informed the staff that we had an existing reservation. A menu was subsequently brought to us, and we simply confirmed that we would have the afternoon tea we had booked. At no point did any member of staff clearly explain that one “Afternoon Tea Set” was charged per person and that two guests would therefore be charged twice.

It was only when the bill arrived that we discovered we had been charged VND800,000 per person, or VND1,600,000 for two guests, before service charge and tax. When we showed the staff our original booking confirmation, we were told that the price had recently increased. Only after a lengthy discussion did the hotel agree to refund the relevant difference.

We also pointed out to the staff that the photograph, the wording “Afternoon Tea Set”, and the way the price was displayed were highly misleading. We were told that this would be raised with management. However, the website still displays a single set price without clearly stating “per person”, so the problem has not been corrected.

The food itself was also disappointing. The savoury items were poorly presented and rather difficult to identify, while the desserts were unremarkable. Even based on the original price of VND700,000 per person, the total after service charge and tax was approximately HK$250–260 per guest, which was not good value for the quality offered.

For a five-star hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, pricing should be clear and transparent. Guests should not discover only at the time of payment that the charging basis is completely different from what the booking page reasonably suggests. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience, and I would not recommend the afternoon tea.
