I stayed in a "premium" king room.
There was nothing premium about it.
The bathroom was in VERY poor condition, and hadn't been cleaned prior to checking in.
Hard to flush toilet
Poor shower
Cracked sink
Badly marked mirror.
We found the food and service to be excellent!, although at £10.20 for a glass of wine, the drinks were a bit pricy.
What a wonderful hotel the staff were excellent very accommodating the rooms were very spacious well appointed
Made to feel comfortable and welcoming well done to all the staff
Great stay at the newly opened Bar Hill Hotel, lobby as you walk in was so welcoming and Pete on reception was a pleasure to be checked in by. So informative so friendly. Room was spacious and warm and the bed was so comfortable. I ate in the Bar area and staff are really friendly and the food was tasty.
Came back today from a lovely weekend at this hotel. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. Ruth who worked in the bar was lovely, and makes a cracking drink!
When you arrive you have to pay for parking £5 per night .
The entrance to the hotel is bright and airy and welcoming.
Unfortunately the rooms smelt awful possibly from old carpets, smelt like old urine! although a good size . We had other family members with us and their room was the same with this disgusting smell .
Our bathroom had sick left in the toilet and the shower leaked was broken
The extensive extermal scaffolding is a little off putting at first glance but installing solar panels is a good idea. First time there for five years and it has obviously been refurbished internally and is very clean. Car parking charges are a bit annoying and the machine to pay for it is not the easiest. It is still one of the most competitively priced decent hotels around Cambridge.
A really good stay in the spacious very clean room. The bed was huge and very comfortable with the added bonus of a very comfy armchair, rare to find that in a hotel.
In house dining, was poor and expensive to boot
This hotel is cheaper on booking.com than on there own website meaning I can't claim points. I've had to book on booking.com & not receive points.
Very good stay
Comfortable rooms
Great staff and service
Good check in. The receptionist was smart and knowledgeable. Our bedroom had all the usual things in it one would expect of a hotel like this. The room was clean and tidy. The dinner menu was typical of menus nowadays. Breakfast buffet was well laid out and items topped up regularly. Staff really good.
The hotel has recently been referbished. We had a good stay and would recommend this hotel.
Real surprise did not have any real thoughts on the hotel but was pleasantly surprised it was very nice it has had a revamp some work is still going on but it does not interfere with the guests. The staff were lovely especially Sally and Julie they went out of their way to help but the young man and girl in the bar were also nice and the girl who cleaned the rooms was brilliant. Breakfast was very nice overall very enjoyable stay and hopefully will return
Pleasantly surprised, nice staff, Sally on reception was most helpfulroom very good. Easy bus journey into Cambridge.
Have to say the room was sparse. One wardrobe with hanging space, only shelf too high to be able to use. No drawers to put underwear in or other garments.
Avoid going to breakfast too early as is full of workmen getting up, pulling their plates high, leaving just scraps for other visitors. We were let asking for items to put on our plates.
Staff very helpful, Chris, Stefam and Ewa all went above and beyond to make our stay special! We’ll definitely be back and highly recommend. Food was great and nice we could bring our little doggie! Breakfast in the lobby was also very tasty!
We've just had our group summer golf trip cancelled due to the hotel accepting a Government Contract that is due to last until at least the end of this year. Best Western have also accepted a Government Contract at Yew Lodge near to us, cancelling weddings and other bookings. I hope this works out for them in the long term but I will not be using Bsst Western ever again due to unreliability.
We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel. As many have already mentioned the jewel in the crown for this hotel is its staff. They are incredibly friendly and welcoming - from reception to the kitchen.
So often family rooms are just a bed with a sofa bed for the children. This was not the case. The children had 2 good sized singles and yet still the room did not feel one bit cramped.
We will definitely stay again - only down side was that the pool was not open which we missed when booking - let's hope the prices don't go up dramatically when it opens.
Just one more ting - when it says that the bus into Cambridge is just round the corner it literally means just round the cornet - absolutely ideal and only £10 for a family into Cambridfe (return)
Hopefully see you again!!!
Stayed here for a couple of nights
Room vas dated not clean
There were cobwebs full of dust on the celing bed kept splitting two single beds put togethet
Shower curtain was badly stained dust behind the doors taps and sink needed descaling carpet badly stained walls scratched
Whole room needs a good deep.clean and could do with a revamp
However staff were fantastic and breakfast.was good
The road having been upgraded took a while to find. Busy location. The food was reasonable. Went to the restaurant area first to be told to wait. Went to car and came back to this time be told bar snacks were upstairs. Not clear how to get to the bar area. Asked to be pointed out, not so politely.
Easy to get to, good price, good facilities and comfortable rooms. Nice breakfast. The staff were polite and attentive without being overbearing. Stayed with four other colleagues who took dinner, I was jealous.
