It is a beautiful old country house in lovely grounds.
It was my friend’s 60th special birthday celebration, which they knew and they gave us a bedroom on the 3rd floor overlooking the bins!
It was also an a joining room with a door to another bedroom.
They wouldn’t let us have an early check in & tried to over charge us for a champagne afternoon tea despite us pointing out their error.
First impressions were fantastic easy to park entrance clean and tidy reception staff were very friendly helpful and welcoming overall the staff were friendly fun and very helpful
Found the hot breakfast very disappointing and cold, the cold breakfast items were good and fresh, this was very much a hit and miss breakfast.
Location and proximity to Leeds.
On arrival the door to my room was open and room had an awful smell. I phoned reception and they told me to wait in the room but nobody arrived to see what the problem was. They did move me to another room but in the morning I discovered that the shower was broken and had to go to the spa to get one. This was reported on my departure.
Beautiful surroundings and the staff were all lovely
Nothing
The hotel itself had lovely decor, we stayed in a superior room which we couldn’t fault! The bed was very comfy, bathroom lovely and clean and overall spacious.
We used the spa during our stay and booked ourselves some treatments which were lovely. In the evening we went to the main restaurant where the food was 10/10, we were served by Oliver who we couldn’t fault. He was so friendly, funny and engaging and all round, a pleasure to talk to!
We don’t have a negative thing to say about Oulton Hall.
Breakfast lovely lots of choice
The standard of staff serving in the restaurant could do with improving.you have a beautiful building and it is not matched by those providing the service
Lack of a phone number to communicate with hotel is poor, it is well hidden. The offer of 10% of your bill if you have a second meal during your stay is unclear at best as it only applies to the second meal, not the total bill as promoted, and further more you have to mention to restaurant staff when having first meal.
Nice peaceful relaxing break, staff were really friendly and helped any way they could. Food was fantastic with really quick service, a great place to stay and unwind.
Nothing.
Had an amazing night sleep. Beds where so comftable and breakfast was amazing
The entrance of the hotel, the high sealing in the lounge area, all the amazing paintings , the garden and the outdoor flowers. Very friendly and helpful staff.
The bed was not the most comfortable and the room view could’ve be better. The room was also very far from the reception.
Large, clean hotel set in attractive grounds, featuring an impressive main house and good facilities. We may have arrived with high expectations, but overall we found it a little underwhelming, as it felt more like a busy, high-volume hotel than somewhere with a distinctive character. There was nothing particularly wrong with our stay, but equally nothing that stood out as exceptional. The staff, many of whom were young, were pleasant and polite throughout, carrying out their roles efficiently. From the outside, the property gives the impression of something more unique. It did, however, seem especially well suited to golfing groups, and there were several staying over the weekend.
Food in the main restaurant was pretending to be something special and it was ok but a few tell tail signs made us question the fresh cooking. I would not bother eating there again.
Beautiful location. Good food and bar.
I chose a suite. It was a little tired, the sink tap was very loose, there were some questionable stains on the ottoman and the Nespresso coffee machine was faulty and didn’t work. Not really what I would have expected from a suite.
Gorgeous location !! Lovely hotel
The pool was so busy when we arrived and the room was really hot
