The grounds are amazing
Beds a little hard
Nice room, great reception and facilities. Lovely grounds and plenty of parking. Nice historic building in a good location.
Service at dinner quite slow, it was ok but not great value, £40 for an overcooked, grey fillet steak and a few chips. Grubby menu cards and cheap cutlery - not the experience to suit the venue.
Help yourself buffet breakfast, food was good, very busy. Only memorable point was a very pleasant young chap who offered to fetch us a cappuccino from the lounge which he said would be nicer than the machine in the dining room.
Staff were amazing they always are but for some reason they all seemed ultra attentive.
Price great
Room lovely air con worked well.
Grounds were particularly lovely the flowers and bushes were super this year.
Loved everything ...ambience..food ..drinks...comfort of beds
Towels bedding top notch.
Breakfast was superb
Nothing not to like.
Spa area was nice.
Lift was broken so I had to walk with my luggage up the stairs, everything was so far apart. The pillows on the bed were awful, other guests were loud during the night which kept me up.
Just a great place to stay
We always have an excellent stay here. The hotel is lovely and in a gorgeous location. The staff are amazing and always so friendly.
Nothing I didn’t like.
Stunning
All great.
Everything, it was a beautiful hotel with a fantastic atmosphere, staff were very friendly and professional.
Pool, bar area
Nothing
Love the hotel stayed many times.
We were put in room 362, it must of been the most far away room on the 3rd floor. The lift went to the 2nd floor then you had to walk to the stairs as the lift was out of order and drag your bags and cases up the stairs, not really that great when your husband has a heart condition. We were not told about this if so I would of asked for another room. When we checked out I asked the cleaner how long the lift had been out of order and she said 3 days the reception said 2 both were wrong as we stayed 4 nights. We went out in the morning and when we went back to our room in the evening we stayed there as the journey back to the bar was just not worth the journey. We love having a couple drinks down stairs in the evening but missed out this time. We have stayed in this hotel many times but very disappointed with the room allocated to us and check out didn't seem bothered at all.
Beautiful building and grounds, got upgraded by Hayley on reception as we were staying to celebrate our wedding anniversary, Wensleydale Suite room 104 was amazing, thanks Hayley. Ate in the restaurant one evening and had room service another night, my husband is Coeliac, so always concerned about gluten free, but there were plenty of options, and the dishes came out labelled allergy/intolerance.
Great facilities and beautiful lounge areas
Nothing
Lovely old building with lots of character
No hot water in the morning
The breakfast was nice however we were not greeted in the breakfast room, we were not offered coffee or tea, it was my friends first time and she filled up on cereal and fruit not knowing there was hot breakfast as we couldn’t see it from where we were sat, I had to ask 3 times for my scrambled egg by which time I had eaten my bacon there were no mushrooms left and no more brought out, even though it was only 9.30am,
We could have been greeted at breakfast and offered coffee, there was a young girl in the steam room and jacuzzi about 8years old and the mother was filming her and got us on the video, when we told staff they just said well you can’t tell some people! The mother then left the child on her own in the jacuzzi to go off and do her own thing!
Everything.. it’s the second time we’ve visited and this time we brought my son and a friend who were also very impressed
