With a fantastic terrace that overlooks the lagoon, an elevator and its proximity to both the vaporetto and the alilaguna, this hotel can make for an excellent choice for people that don't want to lug bags up and down the stairs of Venice. But it's not for light sleepers. The construction is such that some of the first floor rooms (second floor for Americans) are at the same height as the bridge over the nearby canal, meaning that foot traffic passes pretty much right by your window. That traffic is heavy, consistent and goes until the small hours of the morning (and we were there in the relatively light season of November). We loved the terrace and it's a reasonably priced hotel. Service also was excellent. But be prepared for the noise.
While the hotel was beautiful, and the staff was pleasant… The air conditioning was turned off in the hotel. The rooms were stuffy so the only way to get air moving around at night was to open the windows. After the first night, we woke up with mosquito bites. 😵💫 The hotel staff explained there was no way to regulate the air-conditioning on a room by room basis… and a decision was made to turn it off because of the cool evenings. For the price of this hotel in a room facing the canal, this was completely unacceptable! By the time we left my husband had at least 30 welts up and down his arms and across his face. I chose to keep the covers over the top of my head while I slept.
A beautiful hotel in a great location. However we were very disappointed with our room.
It seemed to be in an annexe of the hotel. We had to walk over the courtyard and through a door that didn’t seem to ever be locked, before we arrived at our room. It was more like an AirB&B than a lovely hotel experience. Access to the courtyard was either through the hotel or the mooring point (which the public had access to). We didn’t feel safe. The room itself was dark and there were some more issues which the hotel acknowledged and after two nights we were upgraded. Unfortunately we were only there for 3 nights.
We were also disappointed that there were no coffee making facilities in the room. There seemed to be a lack of communication from the concierge as we weren’t told about the hotel’s boat which was available to take us to Morano until just before departure even though we had made enquiries about Morano the previous day.
The rooftop bar was amazing as was breakfast. We’re still unsure if the hotel served other meals. It was very odd. My daughter and I are seasoned travellers and we loved Venice but would definitely not stay in this hotel again.
Great location a short walk from St Marks Square and opposite the vaporretto stop so easy to get about.
The downstairs reception area was lovely but I’m afraid this didn’t extend to our room. Whilst the bed was very comfortable, the room was shabby. The shower was small and scruffy.
I know this is Venice and it’s a very old building, but there was an aroma of drains in the corridor and in the room.
Even in mid October the mosquitos were a nuisance especially at night. Ask reception for a plug in repellant.
The breakfast was ok. Don’t expect a buffet style breakfast but it was served in the rooftop veranda with an amazing view. This doubled as the bar at night which was disappointing and not what I would expect of a bar from a 4* hotel.
There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the room or anywhere else.
Staff were pleasant and helpful. They arranged a water taxi to Murano free of charge, just ask at reception.
If you want somewhere central overlooking the lagoon with easy transport links it’s a great choice. The downside is that it is noisy, especially first thing.
However, I think a 3* rating would have been a better reflection of the accommodation. Seemed expensive for what it was.
Do not stay here if you need AC for the evening time after they shut off the air conditioning for the season… They said just open your window because the temperature drops unfortunately there’s no screens on the window and you’ll get bitten alive by the mosquitoes. We got back from head to toe see picture of just my arm.
Amazing hotel right on the Grand Canal. We stayed here for 3 nights with rooms facing the water. Every morning I woke up and watched the boats coming in to supply Venice. To me, I could do this all day. I love watching the boats that keep this city running. This was my 3rd time in Venice so I have seen all the popular sights prior to this stay. We just love coming back to this magical city and having discovered the Locanda Vivaldi made it even better. The staff is very attentive and set up a nice 2 hr waking tour of "hidden Venice" away from the popular tourist sights. On the top floor is a rooftop terrace where they serve breakfast and it has great views. The terrace is also open starting around 4p till 10 or 11p for drinks. The room was clean and very comfortable as well. I have zero complaints over all. The hotel also has it's own dock if you want to come or go by private water taxi.
Steps to the water buses. Very caring friendly staff. Rooms are a bit small but with beautiful scenery
We were very happy with our stay and the amazing service that we received. All staff were friendly and very helpful. We will stay again next time we visit Venice.
The Locanda Vivaldi is a beautiful, authentic Viennese hotel, fronting onto the Venice lagoon. It is superbly situated for seeing Venice island and the surrounding areas. It is about 100yds from the Doge’s Palace and St Marks Square. There are public transport stations outside and it has its own private pier.
We arrived at the hotel by private water taxi and docked at the small pier at the side. Our room, no. 207, was a good size at the side of the hotel overlooking both the small canal where we had docked, and the lagoon. It was wonderful being able to sit in bed and watch the boats and people coming to and fro. The decor again was authentic Venetian, with beautiful Murano glass chandeliers on the walls and a beautiful Murano glass mirror. Staff were all attentive and charming and nothing was too much trouble. The rooftop terrace, where breakfast was served, and a bar in the evening, was a lovely place to sit and watch the hustle and bustle.
We had planned to go to Murano to see the glass blowing and had seen from reviews that the hotel would arrange a private water taxi if requested. This was all arranged and we were astounded to find out that the hotel, not only arranged for a taxi to collect us, we were taken directly to a factory where we were met by a very charming guide who gave us a private tour. We were shown a demonstration of glass blowing and also glass sculpting, and were given a detailed history and explanation. It was very private and relaxed. We were then taken up to their gallery and were allowed to wander around freely, and enjoy the amazing glass, which was for sale, but well out of our price range. We were taken into their showroom where more affordable glass was available to buy. There was no hard sell and it was a lovely experience. When we were finished we were then taken back to our hotel by the private water taxi which was waiting for us. To make this experience more amazing was the fact that this was arranged for us and was completely free, as a courtesy from the hotel. Yes, we didn’t get to see the rest of Murano island, but we could have gone back if we’d wished.
We thoroughly loved this hotel which was full of beautiful glass, and so Venetian. If I go back to Venice in the future, I will certainly go back to Locanda Vivaldi.
I would definitely recommend it.
The hotel was so close to St Marks Square, and the roof top bar and restaurant had the best view!
We had a delicious dinner right outside on the water, watching the gondolas ride by.
Would highly recommend!
The service and hospitality was excellent. The breakfast was great and they had a nice rooftop bar. The location was perfect and walkable to many key attractions. The room had a beautiful view of the canal but was dated and slightly musty smelling. We attributed this to the weather and age of area. Overall, it was a very nice experience.
Location, location, location it’s a great property easy to get around right outside with tons of water transportation access to all around.
The room is basic and one thing to note the shower is a box - so is very very tight.
Staff was nice and service prompt.
There is a tour to Murano offered for free, but honestly, it’s more like a hook to try to get you to buy their glassware.
A fabulous hotel. Great location great rooms great staff. Very helpful with trips and sightseeing also arranged a complementary water taxi to sister hotel for dinner and a complementary water Taxi to MURANO would definitely recommend this hotel
I love this hotel, especially people who works there are so amazing they were so great enough to accommodate all that we need and helped us a lot. I would definitely go back and stay in this hotel. Shout out to Santa Chiara Hotel Front Desk Clerk. You are all truly amazing and I truly appreciate you guys🙏🙏🙏😘✨
We are travelling as a family of ten including three children and one infant which required three rooms and a crib for the infant. Our accommodations at Locanda Vivaldi were second to none, we found the hotel exquisite in many ways. The rooms were clean, spacious and beautifully appointed. The location is within steps of St. Mark’s Square which was very convenient for our large party. The front desk staff was available 24 hours and extremely helpful, very friendly and accommodated our every need. The hotel was beautifully appointed with Murano glass pieces everywhere and the layout of the hallways offered wonderful sitting areas with beautiful furnishings. The rooftop restaurant offered full breakfasts and fantastic views. We have travelled extensively and I must say the Locanda Vivaldi is at the top of our list.
Our party of 10 were welcomed with open arms. The men who are at the check-in desk are so friendly and knowledgeable. The whole complex is beautiful! My family had room 201 and it was so well appointed. My sons had the sitting room converted into two beds and my husband and I had another room that was very comfortable. The bathroom was perfect. Lots of thick towels and storage areas. The best location in Venice! Close to everything. Our favourite hotel by far and we're switching hotels all over Italy.
The hotel was comfortable and ideally located near the water transport and St Marks Square. The hotel staff were excellent, very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly particularly at the front desk. Nothing was too much trouble for them and I would definitely return to the hotel if we returned to Venice.
Great location, helpful concierge, comfortable room. Breakfast is served on the terrace daily.
The hotel is in the most fantastic location - right next to the Grand Hotel and less than 5 minutes from St Mark's Square. Lovely rooftop bar with views of Venice. Helpful staff. Arrived by water taxi - what a way to arrive!
地点非常好,工作人员非常nice
