This was the 11th hotel we stayed in while touring Portugal and the only one we didn’t like. We were not greeted with a smile or welcome when we arrived, the receptionist (the older man) just looked up and said “passports”. He explained the hotel facilities as if tired and bored of doing so.
The worst thing was the beds, they were hard as rock. When I asked if we could upgrade to a room with more comfortable beds he said all the beds were the same in the hotel. He said housekeeping had finished for the day but they would provide mattress toppers the next day (they must have had complaints previously).The next day the toppers didn’t arrive. We had found a spare duvet in the wardrobe which we put underneath us to try and soften the mattress. So the next day we asked for a 2nd duvet to soften it a bit more. However we had 2 uncomfortable nights and woke up with backache. The pillows were very lumpy too.
The small brown bathroom was outdated with a shower curtain in the bath - I haven’t seen one of those for many years! Only the very minimum of cheap toiletries was supplied and the towels were thin and scratchy..
The sofa sagged and was uncomfortable.
Everything in the room was cheap and basic quality.
When I told the receptionist I was unhappy with our room, it was the only time he smiled! He just shrugged - no apology at all.
I booked this hotel due to good reviews but I don’t understand how it got good reviews. I suppose people have different standards.
There is no way this is a 4* hotel in terms of comfort, it felt like 2*.
We had paid for 2 nights, I wish we had just left the hotel on the first night and found somewhere else, but we were too tired from travelling. We managed to tolerate the 2nd night but had if we had intended to stay longer we would have definitely walked away and found somewhere else.
We ate in the restaurant the first evening and were the only people there, both dinner and breakfast was merely adequate, not 4* standard.
So disappointing.
The staff and room were great. The Hot tub was cold and when it did work only for a short time. It was also not very clean.
The pool was ok, would like it warmer and the sauna didn't work until we requested someone to fix it....
The bar closed without informing last drinks around midnight.
It was in a great location and i would recommend it if the spa facilities were upgraded. It was value for money in January nevertheless.

Was uncomfortable sleeping on two single beds pushed together with my boyfriend.

O ginásio estava fechado para pinturas e o Spa tinha a água da piscina a uma temperatura baixa e a água do jacuzzi estava completamente gelada no dia seguinte de manhã.

Location, staff and room great. Spa facilities ie hot tub and sauna need attention as does the water pressure for running bath, it took almost an hour to run it....

Personalet i receptionen var helt fantastiske meget meget søde og hjælpsomme.
Spa badet var ikke varmt.
