Hotel Don Carlos

One way or another, I've been travelling more than 50 years and stayed at some of the best hotels in the world. I would honestly rate this hotel in the very top bracket. Everything about it is first class. The setting with it's wonderful gardens, the friendliness of all the staff, the restaurant (top rating), just everything. Take my word, you will not get a better Pina Colada from the poolside bar - and their Sangria is excellent. The pool itself is a very good size and you are always able to get seating and an umbrella - even at the weekends when it becomes busy. We took a Junior Suite, which was essentially two large rooms, and it was extremely comfortable. If I have a niggle, the bath & shower are not easy to get in and out of if you are elderly or have knee problems, but we managed. I truly cannot recommend this hotel high enough, and we have stayed at almost all, if not all the luxury hotels along that coast..

Don't be fooled by thinking this is a little oasis by the photos.
No service after 1800 except a coin drinks dispenser.
The air-conditioning does not work.
The garden in front of the hotel seems to be a playground for local teenagers pudding on their weed.
The breakfast is in a site that is clearly used as a canteen for the next door industrial zone.
I feel sorry for the staff who try there best.
But I must rate this hotel as one of my worst experiences on 22 years of living in Spain.

As you will see the paid breakfast has nothing to do with a normal cold buffet!

Very good place. Out of town centre excellent restaurant and service. Good room size with all amenities.

Grand parking, fermé.
Petit dej simple, sans plus. Par contre, bon dîner pour 20€ par personne, entrée, plat, dessert, pain et bouteille de vin compris.
Jardin et terrasse extérieure très agréable pour prendre un verre.

The hotel is located on the edge of town, was easy to reach and to rejoin the motorway network when leaving. Found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Good bar and restaurant facilities on site. Bedroom and bathroom very clean. Breakfast was excellent. Appreciated the free, secure private compound with more than ample parking spaces. With some directions from the reception staff, it was easy to take the bus into town.

Very good hotel for an overnight stay near the business centres in Pamplona.

We booked a 'Twin/Double Room' which allowed us to select on the bedding. Option 1, '2 Single Beds'. Option 2, which we ticked was '1 Double Bed, 1 single Bed'

However our room had 2 single beds pushed together. As my husband is 2 Meters tall, Not only does he not fit on a Single bed, but we also enjoy sleeping close together and as happens with 2 single beds merely pushed together, someone winds up half falling through the gap when the beds push apart during the night!

I went back to reception, politely pointing out the error & asking if the beds could be made up into a double, happy even for a sheet. I was told that my booking was for a twin room, and the reception lady pointed to where it was selected '1 Double Bed, 1 single Bed' I explained that it was not a double and a single but rather 2 singles, and on the booking she could see the other option '2 Single Beds' was not selected. Not what we booked and expected. I was merely told the hotel only provides 'Twin Rooms, 2 single beds' as they get more bookings through this.

So we slept an uncomfortable night. Note even with the window open on a cool rainy night it was still very hot and stuffy. Room was ok otherwise. No fridge. a Bit dated. But for the price we were more then happy and prepared to forget the bed issue. However as we left she again raised the issue, pointing to where it said '1 Double Bed, 1 single Bed' saying you booked a twin '2 single' no!

Restaurant was surprise. Nice food for dinner!

La mjor ensalada que he probado nunca. Habitaciones renovadas muy bonitas y comodas.

Bon rapport qualité-prix pour cet hôtel en périphérie de Pampelune. Le réceptionniste à notre arrivée était très serviable et des plus agréables. Chambre fonctionnelle au calme, avec baignoire. Parking facile. Arrivée tardive possible.

El hotel tiene el problema que realiza eventos y producen ruido y molestias a los clientes del hotel.

Un trato exquisito, te hacen sentir en casa. La habitación y el baño son amplios y la cama muy cómoda. Puezes aparcar perfectamente y el el servicio de cafetería como el restaurante trabajan muy bien.

It is a good hotel for a stay over. We are frequent clients as we do business nearby and happy with the stay and conditions.

I has a very pleasant stay at Don Carlos. Rooms are rather small, but nicely and effectively furnished in modern style, quiet and very clean. The personnel is smiling and helpful. Things like bathroom equipment - toothbrush, shampoos but also a hotel logo branded pen are definitelly above-average features for a hotel of this price category. My room also included spatious terrace, which was very agreeable even if the view wasn't appealing. There was many electric plugs in the room and Wi-Fi connection worked very well. I evaluate this hotel as perfect choice for business trips.

Exellent treatment in this cosy hotel, with super big rooms (not suites, but similar in size).the bathroom is well attached through a corridor and separated by an extra door.
They have a car park outdoors with a gate that closes at night, completely free, surveilled by CCTV. The garden was beautiful with a terrace and a small counter.
Unfortunately, we couldn't make much use of it, but our window had a fntastic view to it.
We had the chance to have late check-out till 2pm.
Excellent staff both at reception, as well as in the buffet at breakfast time.

I could not believe it when I saw it. Really nice room. Clean. Friendly staff. Everything just really really fine. I decided to stay there two nice instead of the one originally planned.

A great hotel with very nice rooms. The grounds are very nicely laid out and I can imagine that in summer time it is a great outdoor location. The location is not great as it is on the outskirts of the town but there is a bus service and the taxi ride to the center of town is 9 Euro. Breakfast was excellent. I would go there again and highly recommend it.
