Our stay in April 2025. Just the beginning of Fall and getting colder by the day! The hotel is atop an amazing hillock!!
Pros:

The hotel is atop a hill facing the massive Argentino lake. The view by day and night is just outstanding. The staff need to be trained in courtesy and customer service especially the dining area staff! They had no smile on their faces. The tongs used for cold cut meats were being used for tomato slices. There was no live counter for eggs etc. All the items were cold and very unpalatable in the cold weather

Out of the Way and Tired
Pros:

This hotel is so old! NOTHING has been done to make improvements since it was built. The carpets are stained. The furniture is fabric and hasn't been changed. The bed is lumpy, and the pillows were hard as a rock. The food in the restaurant is not good. Breakfast is ridiculous with canned fruit cocktail and peaches, which I haven't seen since a child. It is also very expensive. Some of the staff is pleasant, some quite disagreeable. It is a hefty price to get to the downtown. They have a shuttle, but it doesn't run until 3:30pm! There aren't many options if staying here. I'd still check for something downtown to save a lot of time and expense.

Disappointing. Tiny single beds
Pros:

Tired bedrooms, single small beds. Water £4 per small bottle. Few complimentary bathroom items. Tea bags provided on the first day but after you are charged. No milk provided, unless you pay . Disappointing. This hotel says shuttle service but this does not run until mid afternoon. The hotel can basically charge what it wishes because you are out of town. We had to wait until 30m to check in but had to Che k out at 10.30.

the front desk staff where fantastic, very friendly and helpful on each stay. as where the restaurant and bar staff.
the shuttle into town is a great service. spa with pool and sauna also great.
one comment was that there did not appear to be a hotel manager around during all three stays.

Avoid this hotel.
Pros:

Bad location, breakfast is terrible, no service .they charge the cappuccino but honestly is so bad . They play Christmas music in February. The personal gave no service.
Avoid this hotel completely.

Pros:

A lovely and very comfortable hotel with very friendly staff. We spent Christmas Eve here and had a very nice Christmas dinner too. The restaurant and room service is a little on the expensive side, but the quality is very good. Would recommend.

Hotel has beautiful views. Hotel is nice and breakfast is very good. Rooms are dated and a little small… sound travels thru the walls very easily. Note the hotel is outside of town, need a car or bus, too far to walk.

Pros:

Nice views, room without wifi for days, a bit run down and slightly out of town but friendly staff, good breakfast and restaurant. As many options in Calafate will probably not repeat. The glaciers are a must so going to Calafate is certainly a must.

Better Options in El Calafate
Pros:

Our travel agent booked us into this run down hotel outside town. The entire place needs a re-do. The big pool was nice and they offered a shuttle into town that runs from 3 pm to 11 pm. Luckily, it is a cheap uber ride. The rooms lack sound proofing so you hear everyone coming/going. I think there would be much nicer places in town that are more convenient to restaurants.

Staff was polite but was not very accommodating. We were not allowed to take drinks from the bar to sit in the lobby. Also they wouldn’t allow us to take coffee after breakfast up to our room.

Recommended for location and quality of service
Pros:

Superb location with views over mountains, but be aware it is some way out of town and quite a way to walk. That said, the free shuttle bus works well. Room was clean and comfortable, no issues except my wife accidentally broke the bathroom door lock trying to exit the bathroom. Warped wood and stiff doorknob. We reported it to reception and it was fully fixed during the following day. Impressed! Surprised to read negative comments about breakfast, we found it very good with plenty of variety especially the pastries and cakes. Very clear rules about not taking breakfast food out of the dining room (you will be charged for the food!). We did not put the warning to the test, but not an unreasonable or unreasonable request and suspect they might have had issues previously. Excellent indoor pool, proper size for doing lengths and lovely and warm. Also, a children’s pool. Sauna/hot room not operating when we stayed. Staff friendly and helpful. They use WhatsApp to send you the basic housekeeping information hence why they will ask for your mobile phone when you check in. Overall, highly recommended.
