Spacious room, they’re doing some renovations when we were there so some parts were closed but overall it’s a good stay

My husband and I were on holiday and staying at the Marco Polo for a week. One morning, we went down for breakfast wearing singlets because the weather was extremely hot and humid.

To my surprise, my husband was refused entry because he wasn’t following the dress code, while I was allowed in. It was disappointing, especially considering we were simply going to breakfast. We were on holiday, not attending a business conference.

We recently participated as a booth exhibitor at the PPA Convention 2026 held at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, and we had an excellent experience. The venue was well-managed, and the staff were professional, courteous, and always willing to help.

A special thank you to Ms. Jam from the Sales team for her exceptional service. She was responsive, accommodating, and went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly for our team. Her dedication and professionalism truly stood out.

Marco Polo Plaza Cebu has always been our first choice and go-to hotel when in Cebu City, Philippines for its elevated and ideal location, affordable rates, outstanding spic-and-span sea-view rooms, commendable restaurant breakfast menu, near-proximity to the conveniences, no traffic noise whatsoever( and if you know Cebu City traffic noise ) and the traditionally unsurpassed Marco Polo Plaza Cebu staff's efficiency, friendliness, courteousness and dedication to the microscopic details, from the front entrance security personnel, to the reception desk staff of JOHN, CRIZIA and EDNA, the ever-assisting, well-dressed concierge MICHAEL, our extremely expeditious and warm-hearted restaurant servers LESTER and JOVENAL, the ever-jolly lobby lounge attendant CLIVY, to the most efficient and pro-active room attendant JUNREY - they ALL elevated the bars for us that made our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as always.
We had a birthday banquet at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu during our 20-day stay at the hotel and it was an absolute and flawless success and I am totally convinced we got our money's worth because of the 110% compassionate assistance expertly and patiently given by the event coordinator LAURENCE MAUCESA that took the proverbial extra-mile service and made it to an entire round-trip catered expedition. Laurence tirelessly made sure everything was seamless and free of any foreseeable bumps before, during and after the banquet and was always in touch with us, updating us even through the most un-holy hours of the night; Laurence made sure everyone was on the same page. Laurence Maucesa STAYED with us from A to Z, soup to nuts, and never failed to check up on us every day, even after the event, to make sure that everything is to our satisfaction. Case-in-point: We had some room hiccups and even though it was not of Laurence's concern, he acted INSTANTANEOUSLY on the matter and had the issue resolved within minutes to our utmost satisfaction. The issue could have gone south, but thanks to Laurence's intervention, all went well and good. LAURENCE MAUCESA is an integral asset to Marco Polo Plaza Cebu and if you can not call all these extra service, commendable, I don't know what will.
Marco Polo Plaza Cebu has never been a disappointment for us and this visit far exceeded our expectation from the establishment.

Nice Old-School Hotel with Not-So-Nice Old-School Communication

This is a very nice hotel that reflects the Philippine style of the 1980s. It features a spacious layout and plenty of wooden interior, giving it a warm and classic atmosphere. From my experience, the rooms facing the hillside are not as modernized as those facing the sea.

The staff are extraordinarily polite and friendly. The hotel clearly tries to maintain a certain level of etiquette, which, in my opinion, is both needed and to be appreciated.

The prices are reasonable. Coming from the airport, the hotel is located on the opposite side of Cebu City, so the journey usually takes at least 45 minutes, depending on traffic.

There is not much infrastructure around, so take advantage of the very nice breakfast (no slippers ! Sic !). 10 minutes downhill there is a very recommendable Italian Restaurant.

However, the last thing a traveler wants to experience after finally arriving at the hotel following a long journey is the sound of a jackhammer as a welcome surprise.

We stayed here twice, in June and again in July. During neither booking process did we notice any information about the ongoing renovation work. In all fairness, I believe the hotel management and the booking portals should make such information much more visible before guests complete their reservation. At least I was not aware of the renovations when I made the bookings myself.

During our stay, the renovation work affected the lobby and the pool area. According to the information provided by the hotel, the work is expected to continue until November 2026.

We were turned away because one of us was wearing a singlet and were told to change into a T-shirt before we could enter for breakfast.

Accommodating sales even to the last minute changes, they deliver excellent results. Great and tasty foods, respectful staffs.

Excellent service and staff are very accommodating

We've been doing our events at Marco Polo for years in succession. Mainly it's because of the great food and excellent service of the staff. Especially the diligent assistance of Jam and Blane, our event last night was a success.

We recently hosted our ABTIK Voters Education Event at Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish.
Everything was handled with the utmost professionalism and care—from the well-equipped function room setup and excellent catering to the comfortable accommodation provided for our island delegates.

A special shoutout and heartfelt thanks to Lau (Christopher Laurence), who assisted us throughout the coordination process. His dedication, attentiveness, and seamless handling of our requirements made a massive difference in ensuring the event ran smoothly.

The breakfast was amazing and really suit to my Cebu food cravings especially my all time favorite puto with sticky creamy local chocolate (tablea). Although the transpo is not a big issue, but the location is not so accessible to the places that I’d like to visit around the city like churches and malls. Marco Polo’s location is perfect if you want to experience a peaceful,serene and relaxing stay.
