I loved the hotel decor. The room, particularly the bathroom, could use an update. The hotel is beautiful and historic. The Jr. suite was nice and spacious, with a nice, large bathroom. An update I suggest is to redo the non-slip matting to get into the tub; it's old and very slippery, including a larger mat to step out onto, again because the marble floor is slippery. The lounge (24 hours a day was a very convenient touch for coffee, water, soda, and snacks, complimentary.
The drawback of the location, at least when we are there (week of May 21 for 7 nights), is the protests and street closures. Not the hotel's fault, but you might want to consider this, as it was challenging to get in and out of the Zocalo square by any rideshare. Additional street closures impacted the ability to catch an Uber at times, often having to walk further to catch one. Traffic can also impact your activities. Leave early as traffic is excessive making your travels a little more difficult. There was major construction in Zocalo, impacting the noise and walking across the square. We heard the construction all night and while the view of Zocalo is super nice, the construction did have an impact.
Central location. Free coffee and snacks.

Fantastic staff, clean classic rooms, great breakfast with an amazing view, cozy bed and so much water pressure! Classic building! Would easily return.
Soon as we walked in the staff was very welcoming. We were very well taken care of and all the amenities that was included with our stay was incredible. Yael, Jesus, and Cristobal stood out to us that went above and beyond. We’ll be staying here in the future.
Astonishing interior, magnificent art deco architecture of hotel atrium especially the roof ! Wow ! Staff were impeccable. Terrace Restaurant with it's grand view of the main square, what a place for champagne brunch and starting your day ! Faultless. And the all day Lounge, a treat for hotel guests.
Cannot think of a single thing.
The hotel is just beautiful. The rooms were spotless. The front desk staff Andrea (goes by Andi) was so polite and helpful. She advised us on how to get around the city. We had breakfast which was included in our stay. The food was very good, big variety. We didnt get there too early and we still got a table with a view. The restaurant staff told me a little about the history of the building, which I suggest everyone should ask. Its wonderful to see how much pride they take in its rich history. I cannot say it enough, this hotel is so beautiful. I will definitely suggest this hotel to friends and family. I am also looking forward to staying here in the future.
Amazing is how I would like to start this review, from the moment we stepped into this beautiful building full of history we were astonished with it’s beauty and we knew we had picked the perfect place to spend a 5 night stay and celebrate my wife’s Birthday. From the moment we checked in with the wonderful and attentive staff at the front desk to the moment we checked out we were treated like royalty and that’s no joke trust me you will be treated with so much respect from each and every staff member starting from the bellboy to the housekeeper that made up our room and left it spotless each and every day,and that’s why they should be treated the same because they work so hard to make our stays as tourists the very best possible.I would like to send a very special thank you to all the amazing staff at La Terraza restaurant from Captain Javier Cienfuegos who went out of his way in reserving a table with the most spectacular view of the zocalo for my wife’s Birthday dinner and excellent customer service which I am thankful for, Captain Alejandro Barranco as well for his excellent customer service ,friendship and hospitality and the following staff that took care of us with so much care and respect, Jonathan, Alejandro,Fernando, Bruno, Pedro, Rodolfo, Vitte, Maria, Alejandro and all the rest, Thank You for your hospitality and friendship we will never forget. May God bless you all and May God continue to bless this beautiful piece of history Gran Hotel Ciudad De Mexico , we will definitely be back very soon.

Location, the building and the staff
This hotel is fabulous! We were given a larger room at check in, and the entire staff was extremely helpful. The interior space is gorgeous and there is a lovely roof top restaurant.
Nothing
We wish there were more amenities and activity in the lobby. It was so quiet! We also wish there were options other than gull buffet for breakfast.

Great location. Staff is wonderful. Breakfast is great. A little expensive.
Many homeless people in Centro now. Some were sleeping outside door to hotel.
They definitely need to replace the towels. Bedding was rough and came off the beds. Needs to be replaced.
Hotel looks luxurious but linens are not even close.
