Rooms need upgrade
The hotel is wonderful. A throwback to a time when service was central. The front desk staff, especially Jose Luis, were attentive to all our needs and requests. The rooms are spacious and immaculately clean. The lounge is a great midday respite. The restaurant has excellent food, similarly attentive service, and a great view. And on top of all that a great location.
Great location in heart of historical city center, atmosphere around the hotel is very vivid - a lot of people in the Zocalo square, but quite quiet at night. Rooms are very nicely decorated with beautiful antique furniture. Hotel is very clean and for sure worth the value. Staff is super professional, kind and helpful. Specially, the lady in the reception (Andrea) was taking an extra mile to provide the great service, Big Thanks for that!!
Glamorous, friendly atmosphere... we stayed 7 nights and hated to leave. The service was warm and personal; every single employee went out og theway to make our experience lovely.
The hotel is a magnificent art deco building and the view from La Terazza restaurant is spectacular. A wonderful hotel in a vibrant city!

Located right on the Zocalo. Stunning atrium with the first, and still operating, elevator in Latin America. The best breakfast buffet I've ever had is included in the price, in the 5th floor Terrazzo Restaurant. If you like non-stop action during the day (the area settles down considerably at 8 pm) and history this is the place for you. The king room was spacious with a great bathroom considering it was first built in 1895. There was even a welcome message and chocolates with my name written in chocolate sauce. I'm not used to this level of service. The Zocalo is permanently covered with market areas and when we arrived it was extremely crowded. The fact the hotel is in a pedestrian only area our Uber had to drop us off a couple of blocks away and we walked the rest. It was our luck that our room faced onto a walkway where buskers performed until evening. Very good performances, but just not nap inducing.
Las instalaciones son excelentes, las habitaciones y el restaurante a la altura de su reputación.
Beautiful rooftop restaurant. Our family was there for Sunday brunch. Maria, Alejandro and Daniel were excellent servers. The food was delicious.
Beautiful hotel building right in the historic city centre. The staff is greatly serving the guests, special thanks to lovely lady at reception- Andrea (who helped us a lot!) - and all the other kind people working here 😊
As located in the center, it is expected that it is quite noisy outside, almost all day. But, luckily, over the night there was not disturbing noise from outside at all.
The food is not good as it’s offers, coco shrimps are DRY SHRIMPS, no flavor at all, pork offered it is not fresh food and price there are higher, real cost is 20%.
Everybody was amazing. We can't wait to be back, and we want to methank Cynthia Gomez, Andrea Castro, Jose Luis Valadez, and Alejandro, the great bellboy. And Don Felipe Torres.
Amazing
That entrance speaks for itself. With two Bond movies and the series S.W.A.T. featuring that gorgeous foyer, it’s obvious that the property manages to impress. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the rooms were very comfortable and very clean. But that should really be expected from a 5 Star hotel. The rooms facing noisy streets became surprisingly quiet after 7pm and the central location right on the Zocalo was perfect!
While fitting the style of the property, the bathrooms were a little dated (a rain shower and wand combo would have been amazing instead of the very dated single showerhead and the sinks had very poor water pressure and took forever to get warm which is probably due to old/original plumbing) but the biggest complaint is that the restaurant with stunning rooftop terrace and views of the square is no where near a comparative standard to the rest of the hotel. Due to the stunning views this has become somewhat of a tourist trap with poor quality buffet food at extortionate prices. We hoped to enjoy our daily breakfast here and while it was great that the best tables were exclusively reserved for hotel guests, the $660 brunch greatly disappointed.
The location was wonderful, the hotel very beautiful and old charm
We have stayed numerous times at the Gran Hotel. We love everything about the hotel, especially the warm attention and care we receive from Cynthia Gomez and her management team at the front desk. This hotel is our home away from home in CDMX.
We like everything about this property!
