Pros:

It was great location to stay to visit the Beamish Museum. The grounds were beautiful. We didn't expect this and it was a wonderful surprise. The room was large and very comfortable. probably the best place we stayed on our 10 day trip.

Very pleasant stay in beautiful surroundings. Would definitely stay again.
Pros:

Beautiful surroundings, very helpful staff, very good restaurant food at a sensible price. We only ate there on one evening but it was superior to both local options we tried. Friendly atmosphere and happy looking staff.

Cons:

The windows were very difficult to open and didn’t stay open. We had to prop one open with books we had. Despite excellent staff, parts of the hotel could have been cleaner, and it was typically in need of repair (windows) due to its age.
