Average hotel, as regular visitors to Santa Susannah we enjoy the location.
Have to say this hotel is pleasant enough, not overly clean, in need of a bit of a revamp and rooms need better cleaning.
Initially had a mould problem in our room which was pretty grim. We had a horrible damp smell then realised the cupboard that housed the fridge was mouldy.
Changed rooms. Still cleanliness issues.
The reason we will not return is due to our treatment in the buffet restaurant.
We visited one evening as a family of 4 with 2 children. On arrival the staff were pouring drinks, Cava I think. I declined this but when I saw orange juice I asked for some, I assumed they were pure orange juice but on arrival back to my table when my son tried his (he is 7) we realised it had cava in. I went back and asked for just orange juice please. And returned to my table with glasses for myself and children. I hadn’t realised but the restaurant manager had followed me back to the table and as I turned to leave and visit the buffet he said
‘That’s enough. No more- they (the drinks) are only for hotel guests’.
I was too stunned to react and process what he was implying- he addressed me in disgust in front of the restaurant as though I had done something terrible. As if that wasn’t bad enough when my husband and I went to get the children food the wait staff (I presume at the direction of the restaurant manager) came and took our water glasses away. I presume as punishment?!?! My children didn’t know what happening and why we had been deprived of even ordering some water for our table?
I didn’t want my kids to drink alcohol! To be treated like that was shocking. If you don’t want people to drink juice, don’t give it out.
I half expected to be followed round the buffet and told I wasn’t allowed to go back up for seconds.
Really unhappy with this hotel, wouldn’t return.
Standard room was very small with old style , dirty evacuation on the bathroom , small swimming indoor pool with the coast of 12 eur during only 2h !!
No food variety and especially bad quality
It will be the first and the last time :(
Another brilliant stay at this wonderful hotel which is situated close to the beach and to the train station. On arrival we decided to treat ourselves and upgraded to the Lumiere suite. We were so thrilled with this decision as the room had 2 balconies, one with sea view and 2 comfortable reclining sun loungers and table and chairs. The room was huge and had a bath with shower over, and a walk in rainfall shower. We also had coffee/tea making facilities with a Nespresso machine. We have always found this hotel spotlessly clean and the maids visited our room every morning and collected towels again in the evening whilst we were at dinner. Food was very good and varied. We would like to thank all staff for being so friendly and welcoming and making our stay even more enjoyable. We usually stay here twice a year and have already booked the Lumiere suite for next year.
We stayed here for my birthday. It was a lovely hotel, the rooms were spacious and bed comfy. The spa was lovely and great value. Would highly recommend this hotel.
I stayed at Onabrava Aqua Hotel & Spa from Sept 21–28 (room 422) with my family and it was an absolute disaster. This place sells itself as a 4⭐ hotel, but in reality it’s a dirty, overpriced nightmare.
1. The room and bathroom were filthy from day one, with obvious signs of poor cleaning and zero attention to hygiene.
2. The phone and hairdryer were damaged, basic things didn’t work, and the hotel doesn’t even provide drinking water in the rooms.
3. No luggage service either — you’re left dragging your bags around.
4. The food was terrible, more like a bad school canteen than a hotel restaurant. Tasteless, repetitive, and yet still overpriced for what it is.
5. The so-called “welcome” gift was a few Haribo candies and cucumber water — a joke compared to the price of staying here.
6. The spa was sad and lifeless, and the entertainment/animation was depressing to watch. Nothing enjoyable, nothing worth attending.
7. What made it worse is the lack of security. Money was stolen from our room, and the hotel offered no real help or accountability. That is unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one pretending to be luxury.
Overall this stay ruined our holiday. Everything felt cheap, neglected, and disrespectful to guests, while prices were outrageously high. Dirty, unsafe, joyless, and a complete scam. If you value your money, your safety, or your sanity — stay far away from this hotel.
As a frequent customer, I've already been to Onabrava 4 times this year, usually I'm left wanting to return as soon as possible. This is why with sadness I am writing this message now.
Maybe it is towards the end of the season however the quality of the room, food and staff were much below average, bordering poor and the staff were rude.
First of all, the room we were given, the hairdryer did not work and within the second use the chain button fell off the toilet. We went to reception to ask what could be done, knowing it was 9pm and didn't want to have the problem overnight of not being able to use the toilet. Nuria was at the reception desk on her own and told us, she could not help there was nothing she could do neither a room she could change us to - after us pleading she said a cleaner would come to look... they didn't. Luckily when we went back a second time, another receptionist had no problem changing the room.
Secondly, the food in the buffet was tasteless, cold and low quality - to be honest i can't believe I'm saying this when usually this is the reason itself why I book this hotel, the food usually cannot be faulted.
On checkout, we were not asked whether we enjoyed our stay simply what's your room number and thanks. This is not the quality of a 4 star superior, neither of my previous experiences in this hotel. I have to travel a lot for business and will now be questioning whether to ever return.
Excellent holiday, hotel very clean, everywhere air conditioning, food excellent
Spa we visited it was good however one facility didn’t work
However excellent holidays we will be back next year
beautiful foyer as you walk in, rooms sufficient, but could have done with a kettle, pool area like sardines & pool freezing, beds rock hard, food not so great as tendency to not stay hot under bain Marie. Umbrellas round pool not secured, so when windy, 1 hit me on the back of my head and back......were offered free dining at buffet that night to make up for the whack.
Saw ABBA Universe show...started off a bit shabby, but actually warmed up and was half decent.
Staff were mostly friendly and helpful. Dining was a bit of an experience.....very busy. Cold buffet good, loads of choices...just disappointed with hot food as not so hot. Nice breads and pastries. Lifts were very quick.
Beach is a 5 min walk across the road and under subway.....(sand is a bit harsh - big grains).
First the positives - the weather and the pool area, lovely
That said, more negatives for myself and my teenage daughter who have just returned home.
The food is not up to scratch - cooked breakfast was cold - lunch and dinner not up to standard of a supposed 4 star hotel. The noise from the hotel next door was simply awful - banging music until 23.30 every night which was not what we wanted from our holiday! Be mindful about what side of the hotel your room is in, otherwise bring ear plugs!
Rooms were OK with no issues but no tea/coffee making facilities atal. Coffee only available at lunchtime in the restaurant and (silly as it sounds) no English breakfast tea anywhere to be found.
We will not be returning and had we been aware of the negatives, would have booked to stay elsewhere.
Great
Nice first impression, very welcoming at reception. Great location, close to beach, treinstation, bike renting...
Food was a lot of variation!! And a lot!
Evening shows, some good , some a bit less , day cocktail great idea!
The fitness area was also great, you had to pay for it but worth the money.
The whole hotel very clean, in the rooms, public areas, swimming pool,
But big plus is the staff!!! Not even one of them was in a bed mood, always very friendly and prepared to answer any questions. Hardworking people on every domain, that is such a great feeling!! Feels like being spoiled every day!
Bug thanks to them!
The overall hotel experience was good and we couldn’t fault the staff. However, the bed sheets didn’t appear to be changed that often and I had to request clean towels as we were still using the same ones after 4 days. The breakfast & dinner buffets were good with lots of variety too. We probably would return and hope the room issues are rectified to improve the overall experience.
Travelled family of 4 children aged 16 and 14. Our board basis was bed and breakfast we did pay to eat one evening in the hotel buffet style restaurant due to a thunderstorm food was very good you could easily find something to choose from. Room and balcony good size room cleaned daily ☺️ Hotel staff welcoming, professional and very helpful. Evening entertainment was not disruptive further up the 'strip' few hotels with loud entertainment programs. Plenty of places to eat at El Cilo is an absolute must. Went to the beach short 10-15 min walk the sand is quite sharp you'll need some flip flops on in my opinion but we really enjoyed it. We made use of the train went to Barcelona twice 42 euros for a family return ticket train took 1hr 10 min- 1hr 30 mins we found the staff at the Santa Susanna ticket office very helpful. There are multiple stops in Barcelona we departed at Catalunya and the second visit the Arc de triomf both good, depends on where you want to visit. We asked for a late check out but it was not possible as the hotel was fully booked. You can get a shower in the spa which was perfect and suited our needs. All in all a great trip!
Brilliant hotel, great value for money.
We loved the variety of food on offer, there was something for everyone, even my fussy eater daughter!
Rooms were a great size, albeit didn’t have much of a view, and the hotel was in a great location - close to the station, beach and not too close to the noisier end of S Susanna.
We loved eating filled baguettes for lunch from the mini market (freshly baked) and there were always sun loungers available - whatever the weather!
We paid to go to the gym/spa area one day - not cheap for a family for only 2 hours, but for that it was lovely in there. Kids were only allowed into the indoor pool, but the sauna/steam room and various hot/cold pools were lovely.
Its a verry good and lux hotel with a big variety at food in a big restaurant. Friendly and helpful people! They offer some excursions and have realy good shows in the evening but its wel some noise in the night. Swimming pool is nice. Its a big hotel with a lot of gasts. The room was modern and cleaning every day. Mark: 8
Yet another fantastic stay at Aqua Hotel Onabrava.
Staff old and new make you feel very welcomed during your stay and are an asset to this hotel.
Rooms and facilities in hotel remain modern and very clean.
Lots of entertainment and activities throughout the day for kids and adults to experience.
Food in the restaurant is excellent with a variety of choices.
Really could not fault this hotel. If you’re thinking of visiting Santa Susanna then I would highly recommend this place.
Look forward to our return visit in September.
An upmarket hotel with ****.
By the sea. Pleasant and helpful staff. Clean hotel. . Selection of food at all 3 meals sumptuous. Hope leftovers goes to good causes.
Good attempts to conserve water.
Water used to clean floors could be poured into the plant beds in the front not down the drains.
Our family had an amazing time at Aqua Hotel Onabrava & Spa! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how friendly and welcoming the staff were. The entire hotel was spotless and well-maintained, giving it a fresh and relaxing resort feel. The beach was gorgeous and very close to the hotel.
The location was super convenient for everything we needed, and we loved how easy it was to unwind and enjoy the amenities. The breakfast was a highlight – delicious, fresh, and with a wide variety to please everyone in the family. Other meals were good too, but breakfast really stood out.
Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations in every way. We would definitely go again and highly recommend it to families looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay on the coast!
Good services, good food, very nice staff, very positive vibes. The daily activities also contribute to a perfect spending of your vacation.
We stayed here for a week in June and it was an absolute 10/10 for us.
It was spotless the breakfast was great, lots of variety and good quality topped with fresh squeezed orange juice!
The air conditioning was not working in one of the rooms (we had 3). We went to tell front desk, they were very helpful and the repair person had it fixed within literally 5 minutes!!!
The beds were lovely and firm and we all slept like rocks. The Pergola restaurant, great food, very helpful friendly staff who took our daughters life threatening allergy seriously every single time we ate there, which was at least 5 times.
The pool was great, plenty of seats although some people do that annoying towel thing, leaving them all day and not using them, but that is not the hotels fault.
There was a life guard, Lilianna. We wanted to give her special mention not just for being fun while keeping a sharp eye on things, but for what we saw her do. She noticed an older lady, went over, helped her to the edge of the pool and seated her on the edge next to her frame so she could still enjoy a splash in the pool, before helping her back up and to get her t-shirt back on. Just quiet, genuine compassion and care.
We were also served drinks by the pool quite often by Edgar, who was such a lovely helpful person. It felt more like being served by a friend.
I saw many staff great guests like personal friends, in what I assume was many people on returning visits. This tells me, people want to come back, the staff stay long enough to recognise guests and the culture promotes great service. I often speak to staff when we stay places, as if they are treated well, that speaks volumes about the place. The staff I spoke to, told me staff there are very happy and of all the hotels near by, this one people want to work at because they get treated better than a lot of them. Not sure about you, but when I know people around me feel happy and treated well, it creates a very different vibe and this place seems to be that place. Nothing was ever too much trouble.
