The door was beautiful and tasteful and the views spectacular. Very generous sized rooms. Plenty of on-site parking and a very easy walk to the centre of town. The breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide range of constantly refreshed food items. I’d recommend the coffee to wash it all down as it was strong and rich.
Only one thing that I would have appreciated that wasn’t provided and that was air-conditioning. The windows do open a crack and it is Ireland so nobody’s expecting a heatwave but I like to sleep in a slightly colder room. I appreciate that it would be very difficult to install as it was built before air-conditioning was a thing but perhaps allow a wider window opening?
Fantastic breakfast
The decor and the entrance were very 'Grand'. Breakfast was amazing! Staff friendly in the restaurant and bars and the spa. Room was very comfortable. Use of the spa was a real bonus, especially in March when the weather was awful! (Don't forget your swimming hat if you want to use the pool!!) Obviously if you spend more you get a better view, ours was a standard twin and we looked out on the carpark
There was refurbishment going on so the area in and around the lift was very scruffy, it didn't feel like you were in a 4* hotel at all. Can't be helped I suppose but it was a bit of a mess.
Sea view room coastal restaurant & newly refurbished Marksman bar
The location is great
We have stayed numerous times at this hotel and on this occasion it was so so poor i have sent 3/4 emails to this hotel and even rang and i am still waiting on a response back I can’t believe for a 4 star hotel that I have not been contacted .
It was in a great location and I really liked room and hotel
There was no hot water!! So I had to have a cold shower in the morning… I did advise the hotel that they should fix the problem before letting anyone stay I the room 172
Great hotel, great location, lovely big rooms.
The bar is a bit boring but not a big deal.
Central location, very good room and facilities. Breakfast excellent
Only small issue was poor reception on TV
It's quite basic actually but fancy basic. I'm staying at the executive section which is being renovated. The lobby is absolutely stunnig, if you like spending time in an impressive setting in the hotel, this is the place. Quite welcoming but they don't hide well the stress of the day.
A hidden gem is a pool with a sauna and bubble bath. Apparently residents don't go there often and there is a vibrant local community. So if you like a soak and a chat, its a nice thing to do to unwind.
The location is why people chose it, It's absolutely fabulous to walk along the Marine, take the scenic route and explore statues along side it.
Attention to detail is missing, it's not a big deal but the experience is not to the standard they are trying to portray.
Good comfortable rooms, nice location
When we arrived early evening very tired after a strenuous day we were told “ internet down, can’t check in, nothing we can do just “hurry up and wait”. Unbelievably there was no backup access. Worse than that was the attitude of the receptionists - “ nothing we can do, go wait in the lobby”. For an establishment of this size and price it was totally unacceptable. Problems happen - take ownership of them. Appreciate the reception staff were limited in what they could do - the problem should have been elevated to a duty manager who could have authorised something like “terribly sorry would you mind waiting in the lobby or lounge with a complimentary coffee/drink while we sort it”. A shrug of the shoulders and no more is completely unacceptable.
Eventually we demanded access and were shown to the room and let in with a pass key - this should have been offered from the outset.
We have stayed here before - don’t know we will again. Problems do happen - it’s about how you deal with them. The completely offhand and rude attitude is not what’s acceptable from any establishment, let alone one of this price.
Not good marks
Everything we love this hotel
Area scones
Location and facilities were excellent.
Nothing to complain about. Really enjoyed the stay.
Beautifully refurbished with lots of lovely different areas to relax. Location is fantastic in a great town. Great breakfast with lovely sea views and extended times at the weekend. Very reasonable price.
No hot water to shower.
Lovely location and is very grand indeed
First stay since the renovation. We were perhaps unlucky to have a room with no hot water.
