Comfort Suites Airport

We stay here anytime we go to Newport News because we know we will be comfortable and near our family.

Not sure if this hotel has changed ownership since my last visit, but it definitely has gone down hill. The positives were the location and price point which was a good value.

The hotel as a whole needs to be updated, with special emphasis on carpeting in the hallways and the roof. We did not experience a leak in our room, but we were not on the top floor.

My wife tried to use the treadmill in the exercise room and it was out of order for three days during our visit.

We also experienced a noisy HVAC unit close to our room. Our unit worked fine, but noisy unit belonged to another guest room.

The breakfast bar was also a disappointment. Quality of items served was poor. We only ate breakfast one day and that was it.

Overall this hotel does not come close to a 4.5 rating.

Hopefully owner/management will take notice of the review and fix the issues I shared.

Clean, updated, price was right, staff was pleasant. No complaints. I have no more to say but this won't post unless one hundred words.

I was very disappointed in my stay at this Choice Hotel. I booked it online and arrived as planned and was given a King suite on the first floor. Upon pulling back the covers, I discovered the mattress sagged and had a huge dent on the right side of the bed. Good thing it was only me, as I could lay on the other side to be comfortable. The walls were very thin and I could hear the guests in the other rooms. The breakfast was mediocre, with staff who didn't look like they were very happy to be there. No potatoes or bacon, but there was three kinds of cereal, a waffle maker, toast, rolls, and eggs. I had hot water for my shower the first morning, but the second morning, when I got up at six, there wasn't a drop of hot water. I hate starting my day with a cold shower. I told the front desk when I checked out and she said there were only 35 other guests so it shouldn't have been a problem. To top it all off, I checked my Discover card charges today and they charged me five extra dollars! The confirmation already had applied taxes and other charges so I'm not sure why they charged me more. When I called the hotel, they told me my reservation had been canceled and was being charged a higher price? I never canceled my reservation so I didn't understand their reasoning at all. When I called corporate, they just gave me some extra points but would not reimburse me for the extra charge. I usually like Choice Hotels, but this one was horrible. I will stay somewhere else if I'm in the area again.

The property was very nice and staff was excellent, they were so helpful. I would give it a five start but there wasn’t enough parking space and in the middle of the mattress feel like we where in a hole so they need to change it. But otherwise everything was very good.

I really enjoy staying at the Comfort Suites (this was my second time there) for concerts at Hampton Coliseum. The location is great with easy access to all kinds of restaurants and shopping, and it’s an easy 20-25 minute drive to the Coliseum. The hotel is clean and comfortable, and the hotel staff is very nice. It’s also very convenient to fly in and out of Newport News airport.

The hotel was wonderful. I’m pretty picky about hotels and this one was one of the best I’ve stayed at, especially for the price. It’s also in a nice part of town so overall a win! Kids loved the pool and the room had plenty of space for our family of 4

the cleaning and breakfast staff person, Sharon I believe was her name, was beyond terrific. She cleaned up a leaking display while making everyone happy as she did it.. she is a real treasure at the hotel.

I will definitely recommend to my friends and family. We had an amazing stay.

I thought it was a new property but the bathroom was obviously not completely new. Beige toilet, grout was gross, walls were abused. There was no way to open the blinds. Had to prop them up with a lamp to get some sunlight. The hotel was not full yet they put me in a room directly next to elevator which was very loud. Could clearly hear the tv the neighbors room. Lifting up the curtains there was a lovely view of the roof.

We live out-of-town and lodge here quite often because of my husband’s doctors. We do not go anywhere else. The staff is cordial and friendly.

Overall great stay, room was clean and comfortable.The only downside was the breakfast. Few options and the ones available were tasteless.
