Great National Ballykisteen Golf Hotel

We only stayed here one night. Not great, - the bathroom had some sort of leak as our carpet was soaking wet. No one on reception except a security guard who did try and help. However, the hotel was full and they could not swap our room so we had to just tough it out until morning when we checked out.

We stayed at this hotel as we were attending a family event there, which was excellent and perfect for the occasion. However as guests we left disappointed. The hotel itself felt dated with breakfast limited and understaffed. For a 4-star hotel we were expecting something more.

Friendly staff in all areas.
Spa - odd shaped pool was difficult to swim in without bumping into other swimmers.
Golf course great fun and in good order.
Bar dining and breakfast - friendly service and good food.
Three identical rooms booked through Expedia but one room much smaller than advertised.
One couple unable to travel and no refund even partial was offered. (Genuine reason - Margaret had spinal decompression surgery two days ago for acute disc lesion!)

3 star at best. Room key had to be changed 6 times as it stopped working. In room safe did not work , asked 3 times if it could be looked at and nobody came to look.No air conditioning.

My stay was okay. The hotel itself is fine and the room was clean, but it is certainly showing signs of wear. They really need to work on accessibility. For example, there's no reason not to have a front door that opens automatically or with a push of the button in order to make it easier for people with wheelchairs, strollers, or even just those trying to manage their luggage. Similarly, it is very annoying that the small lift that takes you to the rooms is out of order and, despite the fact that I was pushing a baby in a stroller and had a wheeled suitcase, no one alerted me to this fact or offered to help.

2nd time staying here and was disappointed, thought the girl on the front desk was very good and the room itself was decent but WiFi and phone coverage were awful.
Might have been a different experience if I wasn’t staying for work but unfortunately that was the case. WiFi crashed multiple times, couldn’t hotspot as my phone signal was “E” or “3G” at the best of times.
Breakfast wasn’t great, servers didn’t come near me for ordering hot food off the menu.

I was attending an event at the hotel and decided to stay overnight, rather than face a late night drive home.
All the staff members I interacted with were extremely helpful, friendly and very professional.
My room was on the ground floor and was superb. The bed was so comfortable. The room was large and very well decorated and very clean and tidy, I had a cooked breakfast the following morning and this was excellent.

Reception staff great, breakfast fab and staff get great, on three nights I had meal and drinks in restaurant , food average and over cooked and waiting staff need more customer service skills waited thirty meal to be asked if I required another drink even know my glass was empty and waitress passed me on several, shame as it would have been a great stay
