I had a great stay at Grand Mercure Century Park during my business trip to Shanghai. Rick and Kenzou were very friendly, helpful and professional. The food was good, and I even got a custom suit made at Bundtailor in the lobby—highly convenient and well done. A smooth, comfortable experience overall.
The staff were very friendly and helpful to us everytime we needed something. The bedroom was spacious and well equipped, completely suitable for work.
Also the breakfast was excellent, with a wide choice of international and local dishes.
Have been staying at this hotel for 1 month. The hotel is located next to metro line 9 which is convenient. There are 2 malls next to the hotel. The room is spacious and has a separated shower/bathtub. The service provided is up to the expectations. Recommand it to travellers.
The hotel staff needs a lot of training improvement. We arrived in a 7 seater with 3 checked in luggage. The porter saw us but offered no help with our luggage. Even though my sisters were elderly the porter was aloof n did not offer any help. I have never come across such poor standard of service. The address stated was also not accurate.
Great location, great breakfast, and the room was very clean and spacious.
Great hotel great food
location is okay. The hotel offers shuttle buses to the New Expo Centre. Front desk people are nice.
The hotel is not that impressive as you drive up, the lobby is of a good size, and got seen quite quickly by the checking in staff but didn’t speak much English so was a bit difficult🤔. again a big problem with getting the internet. Well hardly worth it as had to again use my own data.
The room ( club king suite) was a good size and had a corner room that had amazing views, also an electric storm which was a bonus to watch 😊 ) it also came with a plate of complementary fruit.
Complementary Drinks in the fridge was a nice touch. Which included soft drinks water and larger. Bathroom didn’t have anywhere to hang your towels, except a line you can pull across the Barth, but l think doesn’t look nice.
Breakfast was good but the set up is all wrong omelettes and eggs are on the other side of the restaurant where the places of bacon sausages beans are
The milk is away from the coffee 🤔 some other items not really in the place you would think it would be so a lot of going back and forth. 🤔🤔 the food is good most of it was hot, one morning the porridge was runny and cold so had to ask to be hotter.(still runny🤣) other day was nice. No
As we had paid for the club suite we had got a free drinks and light food include, which had in the day just soft drink and at 5.30 a selection of alcohol drinks like Bacardi gin whiskey 1 white and red wine
And cakes and some hot food, hot food was not impressive at all. Service is also very bad, each night (3) had to keep asking for things like wine glasses and extra wine, as one night only a 1/4 full
bottle 🤣🤔🤔
The hotel is a little further out but to get a Dd taxi is very cheap? Much cheaper than normal taxis )
The swimming pool was lovely outside and was so refreshing, did need to go to 2nd floor to go back down 🤔 needed shower on poolside and maybe a toilet as you eill need to go up again 🤔🤔🤔
But still l think the hotel is good had room done each day with A fresh look 😊😊
Perhaps I awaited a bit too much from a Grand Mercure? Everything is clean, all looks fine, service is good. I was just surprised at details, after which you see that the hotel is getting old. Examples: the bathroom, the pool area, one of the 2 running machine at the gym making strange noise. Seen garbages on the backyard . The croissants and baguettes have certaily not be baked by a french cook. No real French or English TV program in the room, no CCTV5 neither. A bit too much for the price to my personal opinion!
Room is large and clean. Location convenient with many eateries at Thumb Plaza and 7-8 minute walk to metro Line 9. The corridor air has a tinge of cigarette smoke. Overall still good value for usd 100 room rate.
I stayed at the hotel for a week in March 2024. It was clean and the beds were very comfortable.
The hotel is in a safe residential neighborhood with many restaurants near by. The convention center is about 8 mins away by cab. The breakfast is excellent
A convenient location for my business purpose.
This used to be my preferred hotel and probably would continue to be due to its excellent location, however, things have changed in the last 4 years.
The hotel is very centric and has the Thumb Plaza right behind it, which means you have a large selection of restaurants and Starbucks within walking distance.
Otherwise, the hotel is very nice and the rooms are very comfortable.
Since after the Covid, I have stayed in the hotel on 3 occasions this year and always found a moldy smell in the passages of the floors leading to the rooms coming from the carpet. During my stay in June, I had to change my room becasue the carpet in my room smelt of urine. The room was changed and I was even upgraded.
The bathrooms also have started showing signs of deterioration and need upgrade with shower heads, cleaning the rust and mold from the shower cubicles etc.
Apart from the foul smell in the passages, the hotel is quite good and there is no complaint at all with regards to the other service levels.
The restaurant serves very good food. The VIP lounge on the top floor is excellent for having business meetings and has excellent views.
Although our check-in, around 10 in the evening, was quick and easy, our first impression of the hotel was a musty smell. When we walked into our room, it had a smoky odor even though it was non-smoking. My wife and I did not get a great night’s sleep as the bed was sunken-in and we kept rolling downward towards the middle. Fortunately, the staff were very helpful the next day and let us change to another room that smelled a little better and had a more comfortable bed. The breakfast was good; a nice mix of Chinese and western food. The hotel itself is in a favorable location adjacent to a shopping center with several restaurants including local flavors, Korean bbq, Indian cuisine, and a British style pub, as well as an Aldi supermarket and some clothing/lifestyle stores. It is also only one block away from Century Park, so I was able to go on a nice Sunday morning run. One loop around the perimeter of the park is almost exactly 5k. Overall, we liked the convenience of the hotel for a weekend stay, as most of our activities were in Pudong, and the price reflects the condition of the hotel; good enough, but certainly not fancy.
Our first stay with Grand Mercure Shanghai Century Park started from the kind arrangements made by the hotel prior to our arrival. As an Accor Platinum member, the Assistant Front Office Manager Eric LIU offered us a free upgrade of the room category and helped to arrange the hotel’s executive lounge – the Club Lounge access for my parents. Upon arrival, as my mom was suffering from low back pain, I asked the hotel if it’s possible to change the comfortable box spring to a platform bed. Hotel’s phone operator MA Longlong (馬龍龍) made an efficient and excellent coordination for this request and QIN Zhixia (秦志霞), our housekeeper during the stay, quickly set up the bed for us. We owed them a big “thank you”!
We enjoyed afternoon tea and happy hour in the Club Lounge, which sits on the highest floor and enjoys a stunning view of Pudong skyline. What accompanied with the view was the excellent services and the exquisite food offered in the Club Lounge. The 2 female Club Lounge attendants Emma and Eva (李明月) personified what a 5-star service should look like – proactive, polite and patient – which constitute to be an essential part of professionalism in hospitality industry. The food and beverage further exemplified a heartful local heart that the Grand Mercure brand dedicates to bringing to its guests. Every bite was so delicate that you won’t want to break up its aesthetic presentation. I talked with the hotel’s F&B director Sue LUO (羅曉霞) and found her was an expert in F&B. No wonder why the hotel may offer that level of culinary experience. When many Chinese hotels sees F&B as a tasteless accessory to a hotel, the F&B in Grand Mercure Shanghai Century Park is one of its highlights that shouldn’t be missed out.
An enjoyable staying experience is the result of a successful team work. The people mentioned above brought our unforgettable first encounter with Grand Mercure Shanghai Century Park. It’s their efforts that will drive us to stay with the hotel again in the future and we look forward to coming back again!
Your Sincerely,
Steven Xu
Checked into the hotel today for a 23 day stay. So far the experience is horrendous. They barely understand English and when they don’t understand you, they ignore you and move on to the next person. At reception they stand using their Mobile phones and just ignore you. Also as you’re in the middle of talking, they will just answer the phone if it rings. Impossible to get on the hotel internet unless you have a Chinese mobile number. Finally got online, but internet is so slow that nothing loads. Enter up buying a data plan. Would not recommend this hotel and will be giving my company the feedback when I return
the hotel under maintanance no gym ,no spa,no english speaking we left hotel the moment arrived
Advertised as a 5 star Hotel in an international brand.
Winter is here so there is no heating at breakfast. You should wear your thick warm coat as the heating is broken. At least the salad is still cold.
Chefs can't cook sunny side up eggs. They are either raw or the chefs trick is to spilt the egg yolk and egg white and cook separately then put back together.
No international TV Channels
No 5 star food available like salmon or tuna or bananas or blueberry muffins. Stop it, your asking for too much quality.
The chef then cooks blueberry muffins with blueberry Jam.. great solution
The hotel advertises 3 restaurants, where are they?
Food in Club Lounge is the reheated food from the buffet. At least you can lose weight quickly.
Club Lounge drinks were all warm because the fridge had broken.. Perhaps it makes the beer stronger to drink it warm.
If you want a fake 5 star and you can accept zero service and zero standards and appreciate being treated like an insignificant then this is the place for you...
Come to paradise with an open mind.
The hotel is located within a residential area with Century Park nearby. It is adjacent to shopping complex 证大大拇指广场 (Zhengda Damuzhi Guangchang), which has eateries (largely Asian cuisines), Carrefour supermarket, retail shops, etc. Or cross the bridge to the shopping mall opposite 联洋广场 (Lianyang Guangchang), where you can find more shops eg. Starbucks and Costa Coffee.
From Pudong Airport, the ride took about 40mins to the hotel. Cabby may not recognise the hotel name证大美爵酒店 (Zhengda Meifu Jiudian) or the road that the hotel is located - 迎春路 (Yingchun Road). But if you tell tell them "Damuzhi Guangchang" (means Big Thumb Plaza), they may be able to identify. Do have the hotel name and address in Chinese (specifically. in Chinese characters) with you. It is likely that the cabby will input these information and navigate using a mobile app.
Many hotel guests stayed here to attend events at SNIEC, which is a 5-min drive or a 30-min walk away. Getting to the Exhibition Centre was not an issue but getting back to the hotel was challenging with long queues for taxi at SNIEC.
I previously stayed here when it was Radisson Blu Hotel Pudong Century Park. The room comfort level had been consistent. Room size was good for 2 pax and i like the bright lighting and modern decor. But I had issue with the bathroom privacy blind, which was not fully covered, leaving a gap next to a mirror, so do take note if you are sharing a room.
The breakfast was alright, except for the live stations (eg egg station), most items were not warm. Would have been ideal if there were more selections. Service was standard as with other hotels' service level in Shanghai -- not the 'smiley' sort of hospitality but they do deliver. During my stay, not sure what went wrong, a guest opened our room door by mistake, so do double-check to ensure that the door is fully shut.
Brilliant hotel, excellent location. Staff spoke English which was refreshing.
