Beautiful Setting, Outstanding Staff
Pros:

We have just returned from a wonderful five-day stay at the Domes Lake Algarve and it is difficult to find anything that fell short of exceptional. On arrival we were warmly greeted by all of the staff and taken to a guest arrival room with a variety of hot and cold drinks, where we were met by Rita from the hotel's guest relations team. Rita provided a short tour of the hotel and grounds and let us know that the hotel had kindly upgraded our room to the third floor with a view over the gardens — which was a lovely touch, and the room was ready for us. A fruit platter was brought to our room shortly after we checked in, and the hotel also left a birthday cake and a bottle of wine for my husband's birthday, which was completely unexpected and a really thoughtful gesture as we hadn't mentioned we were celebrating.
Our room was very comfortable throughout — a king-size bed, a well-equipped bathroom with excellent water pressure (the bath filled in around five minutes), and a balcony with a lovely outlook over the gardens. Tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge were provided, which was handy — and worth noting that there is a Co-op about five minutes away should you need milk or any extras. Slippers, bathrobes and good quality toiletries were also included. We did experience a minor issue with the heating during our stay but it was dealt with efficiently. One small thing to be aware of is that the room lighting is quite low and atmospheric — it takes a little getting used to but is very much in keeping with the style of the hotel.
The setting is lovely — the hotel is built around a lake with well-kept grounds that make it a genuinely peaceful place to unwind.
As it was the beginning of the season, the Gustatio restaurant was the main restaurant open during our stay and the food was fantastic throughout, with plenty of choice. It was also pleasantly quiet for most of the time, and the team there deserve a real mention — the wait staff were unfailingly calm, attentive, and professional, including on the one busier morning when service never missed a beat.
What sets this hotel apart, however, is the people who work there. Every member of staff we encountered was exceptional, but we would like to single out two individuals by name. Mauro Gil (hope we have spelt the name correctly!) on reception took time to go through the variety of tours available and places to visit, both within walking distance and by Uber — the Uber service in the area is efficient and relatively inexpensive and we used it throughout our stay, including for our excursion to the magnificent Silves Castle. Rita in guest relations also checked in on us several times throughout our stay with genuine warmth and care. Both are a true testament to the standard of hospitality here.
The location is ideally placed for exploring the area. A leisurely stroll around Vilamoura Marina is a must, and the hotel's own lake and grounds are beautiful in their own right. We also walked to the copper-hued cliffs to the right of the beach — dramatic and well worth the effort — and spent time in the charming town of Quarteira, about ten minutes from the marina, which has a lovely promenade, a bustling Wednesday market, a tourist trail, and some excellent restaurants and cafes. Don't miss the Roman ruins at Cerro da Vila either, right on the hotel's doorstep and a fascinating glimpse into the area's ancient past.
We would return without hesitation. Highly recommended.

Excellent Resort with a Stunning Setting
Pros:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Stay at Domes Lake Algarve

I’ve just returned from the most incredible trip to Domes Lake Algarve and I honestly can’t recommend it highly enough. From the moment we arrived, everything about the resort exceeded expectations.

The setting is absolutely stunning, the resort sits beside a beautiful lake and is just a short walk from the marina and the beach, so the location couldn’t be better. The grounds are immaculate, peaceful and perfectly designed for relaxing.

The staff were one of the real highlights of the trip. Every single person we encountered was warm, welcoming and genuinely attentive. Nothing ever felt like too much trouble and their service made the whole stay feel extra special.

The rooms were spacious, stylish and extremely comfortable, with thoughtful touches that made it feel luxurious but still relaxed. Waking up each morning to the views and sunshine was a dream.

The food across the resort was also fantastic. Breakfast had an amazing variety and the restaurants delivered high-quality meals in beautiful settings. Whether enjoying dinner by the lake or drinks in the evening, every moment felt like a treat.

What really made this stay stand out was the atmosphere. It’s the perfect balance of luxury and calm ideal for switching off and enjoying time away.

I left feeling completely confident this resort has so much to offer people! If you’re considering a stay in the Algarve, Domes Lake Algarve is an absolute gem.

Highly recommended!

Wonderful hotel within walking distance to the beach & Marina!
Pros:

I’ve just returned from a wonderful stay at this beautiful resort, located right next to Vilamoura Marina. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly throughout our visit.

The rooms were spacious and very comfortable, with lovely beds and large wardrobes. Each room had a separate toilet and bathroom, and I was lucky enough to have a fantastic view of the lake from my balcony. There was also a Nespresso machine and a minibar that was replenished daily.

The pool and beach areas were immaculate, and the food was exceptional. I especially enjoyed the poke bowl at Estrella and dinner at Topos.

The restaurant caters extremely well for dietary requirements, with a large gluten-free section and plenty of dairy-free options available.

I’d highly recommend taking part in some of the activities on offer, particularly the wine tasting, the mixology course, and the Cataplana workshop.

The spa area is also included in your stay — you simply need to book a time slot.

It’s just a lovely walk into the marina and ideally located near more than 20 golf courses.

I wouldn’t hesitate to book again!

5* luxury. Couldn't fault it.
Pros:

Really amazing few days in this stunning resort. It's definitely 5* on all levels. Can't recommend it enough.

Short transfer time, check in was super quick and such friendly staff. They couldn't do enough for us our whole trip.

Food was amazing. Lunch at the pool restaurant Estrella is a must!! Beautiful setting and the food is huge and tasty. Ate in topos twice. Again super yummy and great service. Buffet breakfast. Everything you need and I mean everything from a ginger juice shot to fresh omelettes.

The hotel lay on lots of additional activities at intervals during the week. We did wine tasting, mixology and the Cataplana workshop. They were extra but really reasonable around 20euros each. For what you got great value. Especially the wine and cocktails!! There are also paddle boards and kayaks to use for free. They also provide free transfers to 5 local golf courses. Also took a trip to the spa. Was lovely. Really not busy at all. Friends had a massage and they said it was amazing.

Kids club and playground on site, aswell as cute veggie patch the kids club plant and the chefs use in the kitchen. Amazing touch.!

Didn't venture into the pools but they were heated which is great for this time of year. Sunbeds and Balinese beds around them were super comfy. One of them has a beach attached to it. Which is so lovely and different

Room was spacious, modern and clean. With everything you need in it. Shower and a bath which is a welcome now a days. I am a shower snob. This one passed with flying colours!!

Loved the location, short walk to the beach and direct access from the hotel to the marina.

Genuinely have nothing to complain about apart from my trip wasn't long enough and my waist has grown a lot from the amazing food!!

Stylish luxury, fantastic service and some brilliant experiences
Pros:

I recently stayed at Domes Lake Algarve and had a fantastic experience from start to finish. The resort itself is beautiful, set around its own lake with lush gardens and a really peaceful atmosphere. It feels luxurious but still relaxed and welcoming, which makes it very easy to settle into holiday mode.
The staff were excellent throughout our stay – genuinely friendly, attentive and always happy to help. Service felt very natural rather than overly formal, which we really appreciated.
The food across the resort was great, with breakfast offering a huge selection and everything feeling fresh and high quality. One of the highlights for me was the cataplana cookery experience, which was such a fun way to learn about a traditional Portuguese dish. The chefs were brilliant and it was a lovely hands-on experience.
We also did a mixology class, which was another great activity. It was relaxed, interactive and a fun way to spend some time learning how to make some really good cocktails.
The rooms were spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean, and the facilities across the resort are fantastic. The pool areas are beautiful and the sand-bottom pool by the lake is a really unique feature that makes the hotel feel a little different from your typical resort.
The location is also ideal – just a short walk to Vilamoura Marina with plenty of restaurants and bars, and the beach nearby as well.
Overall, Domes Lake Algarve strikes a perfect balance between stylish luxury and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. The experiences offered at the resort really add something special, and I would happily return.

Beyond excellent
Pros:

Domes Lake Algarve provides superb accommodation, fine restaurants (although they're not all open in February!) and extremely helpful staff who could not do enough to make our trip pleasant and enjoyable. In the unlikely event that you want to leave the resort, the facilities of the town and the beach are within an easy stroll - although be warned that the marina restaurants aren't as good as the ones on site - and there are excursions, golf and trips to nearby towns and markets available, all of which can be arranged by the efficient and ultra-friendly reception staff.

The Topos restaurant is amazing, the buffet excellent and very child-friendly and the Estrella bar a perfect place to relax over a light lunch while drying off after a dip in one of the pools. In short, this was a fantastic holiday experience and one we're all looking forward to repeating.

Wonderful stay
Pros:

We spent 5 nights at Domes Lakes in February half term.

We didn’t have the smoothest starts to our break but the attentiveness of staff made the difference and turned a bad first impression into a comfortable stay.

We were on an early flight and arrived at the hotel around 1pm. On arrival we were told we had been upgraded from a Sapphire room to one of the residences in another building. We queried whether this would have a lake view, as that was what we had selected and asked that we view both rooms before deciding. It was unclear whether the upgrade we were offered did have a lake view. We were then informed our original room may not be available as the hotel was full. I was not happy with this and requested we have the view we had chosen and paid for. Neither of the rooms were ready and we were informed we would need to wait until 3pm to check in. 3pm arrived and the room still was not ready, but they had good news as we could have the room we originally booked. This was more than frustrating. In February the last thing we wanted to do was walk around outside to get to breakfast and dinner. Eventually, nearing 4pm our room was ready. We felt like we had lost half a day of our break waiting in the reception. The concierge was very apologetic and offered us a complimentary dinner at Topos to make amends. She also kindly sent wine and fruit to our room. Wonderful customer service.

Room
We stayed in 353, a lovely room with lake and sea views. Separate bath tub and walk in shower and separate toilet. Generous wardrobe space and tea and coffee making facilities. The balcony was lovely to sit out on. We loved our room. Quiet, gorgeous big bed, lots of TV channels. Bliss. We slept like babies every night. Housekeeping were fantastic.

Gym
We love a good gym. This one did not disappoint. Plenty of free weights and cardio machines. We loved the hike on the cliffs above Falesia beach too. There are activities such a Pilates in the outside recreation space. You can hire canoes and paddle boards from the kiosk.

Spa
Gorgeous inside space, indoor pool, salt water and jetted jacuzzi and steam, sauna and temperate room. Plenty of loungers, free tea and water. You must book an hour slot to use. This was a god send on our final day when we couldn’t get a late check out. We were given a locker and shower space to freshen up for the flight. Treatments look lovely, wish we had time to do this. Next time.

Location
A very short walk to Vilamoura marina. Great walks on the beach and an incredible sunset. Would recommend walking to the beach side bars/ restaurants to watch the sunset. We had a car, there’s a huge car park under the hotel. Highly recommend driving to Tavira, Loule, Silves and Caveoiro. All beautiful places to visit. Tavira and Loule could easily be a whole day out. We were lucky to catch a cycling time trial race which closed the roads in and around Vilamoura, well worth watching!

Food
Breakfast was exceptional. Such great variety including proper pork sausages and the famous pastel de nata. We were half board and dinner was a little disappointing in the buffet. Lots of fish and salad, but lacking meat dishes that weren’t in sauce. The pool bar food was good, very good club sandwich. Desserts were wonderful.

Dinner in Topos was a highlight. We had been promised a complimentary meal so took this on the second night. We were somewhat concerned as we spoke to a different concierge to make the reservation she didn’t seem to know anything about our complimentary meal. We arrived, were seated immediately and were recommended a local wine. Three courses later we asked for the bill (wholly expecting to pay for wine) to be told it was all on the house. We were really delighted that we were taken care of and it made up for a not so great start.

Bar
The hotel bar is lovely. The servers are all so professional and welcoming. Drinks are reasonable for a hotel. They had activities such as wine tasting and cocktail making (chargeable) but we missed out.

Pools
The grounds are simply stunning. Lush, green, filled with birds and obviously well taken care of. We loved the beach into the lake pool. One of the pools is heated but in February was too chilly for us. There were some brave souls who looked like they were having a great time. In summer or would be bliss! The beach is 5 mins away on foot. We loved walking around the lake, spotting fish and seeing the birds. There is a bird man with an eagle/hawk who wanders around, assuming this puts off the seagulls. We saw a similar bird being marched around the marina too.

Clientele
We had read a few reviews about raucous families but didn’t experience anything like this. All children were well behaved and under watchful eyes of the parents. There was a really nice mix of ages, nationalities, golf groups, families and couples. It’s a very low key, relaxing resort with no night life or evening entertainment (which we loved). The marina has a ton of bars and restaurants if you do want something lively.

Following a rocky start, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely return. The location is fabulous and nothing beats the Algarve for stunning beaches. This is a great base to explore the lovely towns in the Algarve and we couldn’t recommend it highly enough. We hope to be back as the winter sun was the perfect tonic to dreary England.

Some of the best hotel staff I’ve come across in terms of professionalism, friendliness and going the extra mile.
Pros:

Couldn’t ask for more attentive hard working staff making the stay absolutely brilliant. All of the food fantastic particularly in the buffet restaurant. Extremely clean relaxing space. Access to the Haute Living lounge with snacks and drinks during the day would be a reason to return on its own. A feeling of generosity and welcome. Really enjoyed bird watching and cocktail making class. Lucky with some nice weather and got to enjoy the beautiful pools but would have been a really relaxing stay even without that. The hotel not too busy so would recommend it as a good time of year to come.

Wonderful stay!
Pros:

It’s our third time staying at Domes Lake Algarve and everytime they exceed our expectations! The hotel facilities are beautiful and well kept - lovely pools, including an outdoor heated all year around. The rooms are great with very comfortable beds. One of the highlights is the kindness of the staff. They are all so friendly and polite. I would like to say thank you to Rita for the warm welcome when we first arrived and for checking on us during our stay. Pedro for the great service during breakfast and by the poolside. Henrique and Lucas for being so attentive during our dinners. Big thanks to Giovanna and Kanandra from the kids club, for the wonderful care and attention to our daughter.

Beautiful hotel
Pros:

We stayed on a half board basis in a tropical retreat room. There was a wide selection of food at both breakfast and dinner. The hotel is ideally located for the beach and the marina and is set in beautiful grounds with its own lake. We enjoyed relaxing by the outdoor pools, using the spa and also borrowed bikes to explore the surrounding area.
Staff are friendly and helpful and the overall atmosphere at the hotel is warm and welcoming.
Our stay felt like luxury spa break and we will definitely be back.

Simply stunning
Pros:

Possibly the best hotel I have ever stayed in. The welcome was warm with refreshments and a guided tour of the main areas. We were on honeymoon so got a free upgrade to a tropical room which was stunning. The hotel also brought free sparkling wine and chocolates for us. All public areas, inside and out are immaculate. There is a lovely walk around the lake where you can do watersports. There are 3 pools, one of which has its own beach! One is heated. The spa is free for guests to use but you have to book a one hour slot. It has a sauna, steam room, Roman bath, cold shower, jacuzzi, salt water pool and various power jets in the pool. Breakfast was an abundance of fabulous food with so much choice, I was really impressed with the gluten free section. If you have a special occasion this is definitely a great place to spend it.

Wonderful hotel
Pros:

Absolutely fabulous hotel! From the first point of arrival to leaving the staff cannot do enough to make you feel welcome, and throughout your stay the staff always check things are going well. A special mention must go to Erica on the guest relations team who organised a lovely surprise of balloons, cake and fizz to celebrate my wife’s upcoming birthday, thank you so much! The gardens and lake are stunning, beautiful to walk around, the pools are clean and well maintained if a bit icy in February, although one is heated. The indoor pool is great with a lovely jacuzzi and sauna. We only ate breakfast at the hotel but everything was cooked well with a huge range to choose from to suit even the pickiest of eaters. Overall a fantastic hotel that I would recommend to anyone and we will be returning in the near future.

Great hotel
Pros:

This was our first stay here after having our holiday amended by Jet 2 from the Tivoli Hotel. On arrival , the hotel had no record of our booking due to an error by Jet 2. This was resolved after a couple of hours and we were upgraded to an apartment . Public areas are fantastic, staff and level of service impeccable. The breakfast is outstanding and the bar comfortable. The only negatives were lack of ventilation on the bathroom (other than an inward opening window which couldn’t be used when showering) so it was always wet and lack of drying space for wet towels. The hotel consists of several blocks and ours was situated some distance from the main building. The route from our apartment was poorly lit at night and could be tricky for the infirm or those with sight problems and not pleasant bad weather However, these are minor issues manly down to the time of year we visited. We will be back.

5* treatment, comfort and layout, we loved it
Pros:

Perfect experience at Domes Lake Algarve
Taxi with Sunline from Faro airport around €28 Feb 2026, half hour journey.
Beautiful and spacious front of property.
Wonderful greeting from Reception at hotel, we had previously contacted the hotel to book the wine tasting and Rita from guest services found us within the first 10 minutes of arriving to welcome us and show us around the hotel, incredible service.

Lovely room, clean and well planned, separate toilet and bidet to bathroom. Bath and shower, shower gel shampoo and conditioner available. Hairdryer, iron and ironing board. The bed was so comfortable, spare pillow. Kettle and Nepresso coffee machine, milk carton in fridge, bottled water in room.
Hotel is a great host to golfers, however we didn’t feel neglected.
Evening meal taken on half board at waiter service Topos restaurant as early in season, 2 choices of each course on menu and all food was delicious.
4 nights of evening meal in buffet restaurant opposite and good choice of tasty main courses with great array of salads to start.
Breakfast is excellent at the hotel, the buffet restaurant has a far more intimate and personal feel to many similar hotel buffet restaurants we have experienced. The lighting is kept low to enhance the intimate feel. Great service, attentive and friendly. The Manager of Topos restaurant enhanced our experience and Gabriel in the Gastacio buffet restaurant stood out for his kindness, smile and efficiency.
All public areas have the same friendly, intimate feel, smaller rooms with relaxing chairs, mood lighting and great cocktails! So comfortable.
Outside the hotel looks almost colonial in style, 2 large swimming pools and a very interesting beach pool. Too cold to try unfortunately as weather unusually cool, however a large manmade beach surrounds a beautiful area of water, which is actually a swimming pool and the sand continues through the whole area. Brilliant for children.
Beyond this area is a lake, footpaths meander through the extensive grounds and birdwatching walks can be taken for free, daily.
Further on, a 5 minute walk away is the marina, full of restaurants and bars and plenty of marine craft. Walking 5 minutes in the other direction is a huge long and very golden beach, plenty of space.
The indoor pool, hot tubs and spa is inviting, the pool isn’t huge but wonderfully warm, clean and full of pleasant aroma. It was never busy, but again it was out of season. Plenty of fresh towels and hot water machine for herbal tea.
I popped into the hair dresser next to the spa treatment rooms for a last minute hair appointment, wash, conditioner, trim and dry was €25, brilliant hairdresser and value, really pleased I tried it as I hadn’t been to a hairdresser for 4 years!
Not to be missed is the wine tasting, this seems to be held weekly on a Wednesday, 4 wonderful wines and port, cheeses and cooked meats and a very knowledgeable sommelier. The ‘tasting’ helpings were very generous, bit the best part was meeting other guests from many different countries, interesting and good conversation.
To sum up, this lovely hotel is
Friendly, welcoming, beautifully designed, comfortable but also elegant, palatial in the reception, full of wonderful staff, classy and unpretentiousness.

Superb place to stay
Pros:

Excellent stay for eight days at the Domes. We took advantage of an offer and had half board. From the commencement of our trip we could not have had better treatment. We had a room upgrade and because we were registered for their loyalty programme we were treated to a bottle of wine a plate of fresh fruit in the room. I would like to single or individual staff who have particularly good service. Rita, guest manager, who sorted out a slight mix up over the Cataplana cooking course, Erika who have us a guided tour of the grounds and told us about the wildlife, Gabriel and Telmo in the restaurant who were particularly friendly and attentive. On the whole an excellent stay. Highly recommended

10 out of 10!
Pros:

Just finished an exceptional five night stay at the Domes Lake. The staff at this property were phenomenal. They went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable and memorable stay. The room had a great view over the lake and was tastefully decorated. It was a pleasure to return to our oasis every day, after exploring the beach and marina. We really appreciated how quiet and relaxing our room was. Special thanks to Francesca for the lovely welcome amenities and for curating a fabulous stay, start to finish . We especially enjoyed the Portuguese wine tasting with Vidalis.
Erica from custom relations, was also available to book dinner reservations or spa appointments, and led a lovely bird watching expedition around the property. The breakfast buffet was vast and varied and offered anything you could possibly want. Special mention to Margarida for ensuring my spouse, who has celiac, always had something delicious to eat. This property takes food allergies and restrictions extremely seriously. We also enjoyed room service several times during our stay and it was excellent! Every staff member we encountered from the maids to the servers at breakfast and in the restaurants were professional and kind. Our time at this hotel was truly wonderful. Obrigada!
