From check-in onward, it was a mess. We came in to an empty check in desk. After Miriam came back from running to a room to help another resident, I’d found out that she was the only one working and had to go to rooms to help people because the company that owns this hotel didn’t staff it well enough, so I couldn’t blame Miriam, because she was nothing but helpful! It’s a pity that Nick, the General Manager, wasn’t there to back her up! As a CPO for a large nonprofit, I was shocked at the poor management.
Despite the great design, the fancy touch light didn’t work. The sliding door to the bathroom was horribly stuck and risked breaking just to slide open and the clines didn’t open all the way. So, lots of bells and whistles but this room was made for form, not function and felt like a rip off. Pity. The hotel is well-placed walkable from a lot!
Great location, right around the corner from the Englert
No fridge in the room. ATM out of order. Loading/unloading area blocked and unusable.
Rooms are spacious, clean, and we'll maintained. Our room had a lovely corner view. The kitchen had a nice assortment of dishes and glasses to use during our stay. The hotel is in a downtown convenient location. Front desk v personnel were friendly and helpful.
The location of the hotel was excellent but the cleanliness of the room was lacking. The cabinet under the TV had a large pile of dust under it. When I moved the cabinet the back of it, floor and wall were covered in large white dust. It appears that is there the AC filter would be so I assume it had not been cleaned in a long time and the filter must have been really dirty. My dog kept trying to get something under the sofa and when I moved it there was an unacceptable amount of dirt. Why do I pay $75 for my pet when the room isn't clean in the first place.
The sink is not real deep so we had to be careful not to splash over the edges.
Location!
The refrigerator was up against the wall, which made it impossible to fully open the door. We had some items we needed to refrigerate for the next day tailgate and it was difficult to get it in the fridge.
Beautiful property and loved the huge private balcony we had off our room. Very clean and modern interior and the bed was comfortable. My only suggestions would be for a full length mirror outside the bathroom and bathrobes would have made it amazing. Also we stayed 2 nights and our bed was never made up in between or our coffee pods replenished.
Place was dirty & unkept. Hair in bathroom sink, shower, bed. Mold in shower.
We enjoyed our stay. Room was large and bathroom was clean and larger than most. Desk has weeds growing out of cracks and was generally a bit dusty. The AC was loud but we are not used to needing AC so might be particular to our ear. Area outside was clean and there are great places for coffee and food.
Had a fantastic stay!!!
I’ve stayed here a few times. Clean, safe, nicely styled and great location.
Fantastic location and lovely rooms with big balconies
Great place to stay in downtown Iowa City. Loved that there was a market right next to us.
Love the location. Outside the property is a walkable shopping and dining area. If you have small children there is a playground and splash pad for hot days right out front. Lots of options for grab and go food, sit down restaurants and outdoor patios for an afternoon happy hour! Parking is $15 and is at the city lot. Gym is large (not a run of the mill hotel gym at all), but could use some TLC for the benches. Lots of cardio equipment and free weights; and it’s open 24h. Definitely will stay here again!
Super clean, walkable & no loud noise.
First time me & my daughter slept good at a hotel.
