We read reviews before we booked and a lot said the rooms were old and musty smelling. So we knew that going into it. Ye

Beautiful place to stay for views and time in the pool
Pros:

The views were awesome! There were two pools, one inside, one outside. Water temp was nice in both and pool areas well maintained. Loved all the historical pictures, decks and patio areas, and the bar was nice.

Cons:

Very confusing layout and there is are no elevators. The entrance and exit to the parking are are treacherous, at the very summit of the mountain and it is extremely difficult to see oncoming traffic.

Pros:

We love the historical nature of the building.

Cons:

The bar off the lobby was a little too rowdy. The bartender should be more in charge. Swearing when guests, including children, are in the nearby lobby is not acceptable.

It is a historic place to visit in serious need of updating. I wish a different owner would renovate the rooms and make
Pros:

The historic nature of the property which is outlined in original newsprint in the hallways. Two very large swimming pools. Beautiful veranda and front hall fireplace. Many antique features on display such as the original hall phone for hotel communication and original cash register. The front desk staff and servers in the dining room were very nice and attentive. They seated me in front of the fireplace, which was lovely.
Parking is included and there are many spaces. There is a game room for kids that has a pool table, ping pong and a few games.

Cons:

Historic property that has minimal updating. This means no elevator, no soundproofing, no valet, peeling paint in the bathroom. I requested a ground floor room to avoid lugging our heavy bags upstairs. We got a room but it was directly next to the public veranda where a woman stood outside our window talking extremely loudly on the phone for almost an hour. There was a really bad odor emanating from the hall janitorial closet so I opted to not move further down the hall.
Pillows are rock hard. I can understand keeping the mission style furniture in the great hall but the hotel room furnishings need updating. The doors have original keys and chain locks which I was fine with but I saw a gentleman get locked out.

Beautiful stay
Pros:

We had a great stay at Summit Inn. All of the staff were incredibly nice & welcoming. The grounds, pool & lobby area were beautiful. We had dinner on the Veranda and it was amazing! Food, service & views were unbeatable.

Cons:

The bed & bedding weren't the best, but the AC was cold so we slept okay.

Historic Hotel to Explore the Laurel Highlands
Pros:

The historic inn welcomes you with breathtaking views over the valley below from its giant porch. The lobby and restaurant were very nice too with roaring stone fireplaces and grand open spaces. The restaurant was nice and the food was very good. The hotel was convenient to local attractions, such as Falling Water and Kentuck Knob, which is why we stayed. A few complementary overnight EV chargers were a nice convenience for us too.

Cons:

The rooms were a bit on the basic side and a little dated and smallish. Not a big deal for us since we stayed only one night and didn't spend much time in the room, but perhaps could be an issue for longer stays.

Historic and Beautiful
Pros:

We loved the location the hotel, the view from the hotel was beautiful, and the furnishings inside were historic and well-kept. We also enjoyed looking at the historic pictures and documents on the walls.

Cons:

The value for the king room we got was lacking. The room did not have a refrigerator, so we couldn't store any food left over from the restaurant. The restaurant was great, although my husband ordered the prime rib special and it was so grizzly that he ended up wasting most of it.

Very good. I wish I had a reason to plan another, longer visit.
Pros:

We loved to see the history of the inn. The lobby was so comfortable and welcoming.

Cons:

Guest room doors make a lot of noise, but I suspect there isn’t much that can be done. There were some issues in the bathroom that were taken care of.

An experience of a bygone era worth the visit
Pros:

Fantastic location and views from Veranda. Generous portions on menu, nice wait staff. Period furniture in rooms. Gorgeous lodge like lobby and fascinating history, awesome meeting rooms although a little dark, excellent pool area.

Cons:

Rooms need some updating, a little damp possibly due to outside conditions, but so much upside potential, once a real gem.
