Beautiful setting and large rooms but missing the finesse of many 5* hotels
Pros:

The hotel is situated in a beautiful location on the lake - stunning views from the terrace. We are so grateful for the room upgrade for our special occasion, which meant we had a really spacious home for 5 days. I particularly enjoyed the sunloungers in the room terrace and the walk-in wardrobe. Staff were generally very friendly.

Cons:

The hotel had the potential to be great but lots of missed opportunities to make the experience feel efficient, good value or thoughtful. This was summed up by a few examples:
1) Breakfast was good in terms of variety of produce but service was extremely disorganised and inattentive with clearly no system in place. You had to go find someone to place orders and then half the time these orders were very delayed or never came. They also start tidying up at 10.35am everyday even though breakfast finishes at 11am, making you feel rushed and pushed out. Not always very relaxing!
2) The spa is not included and is very pricey, which is surprising given the cost of the hotel. The gym is also in their other hotel across the road, difficult to find, and much of the equipment was old or out of order. In fact, very little was complimentary / reasonably priced on site. Cheaper drinks for guests on the terrace probably would have incentivised us to spend more money in the hotel ironically!
3) They say they have a shuttle service into town but it is only 2-3 times per day and then half the time, it was full. I couldn't book in advance so we ended up spending a fair amount on ubers.

Pros:

El hotel es muy bonito y tiene unas preciosas vistas pero el servicio de desayuno deja mucho que desear.

Cons:

En el desayuno no están pendientes, tienes que buscar al camarero para pedir algo, se equivocaron de leche siendo intolerante a la lactosa, no se corresponde para un hotel de 5 estrellas.

Bemühtes Personal. Schöne Umgebung.

Cons:

Zimmer sind stark in die Jahre gekommen. Wurden beim checkin nicht informiert, dass der Spa Bereich nur auf Vorreservation verfügbar ist und konnten somit nicht in den Wellness Bereich. 26 Grad warmes Zimmer - konnte immerhin nach 3 Besuchen des Personals im Zimmer behoben werden.

Pros:

Die Kompetenz, Freundlichkeit und Warmherzigkeit der Mitarbeitenden hat uns während diesem Wochenende besonders gefallen. Man fühlt sich vom ersten Moment willkommen - der hohe Standard eines Fünfsternehotels kombiniert sich hier mit dem italienischen Charme (fast alle Mitarbeitenden sind Italiener :-). Ausserdem ist die Lage mit Aussicht über Bucht und Lugano fantastisch und Teile der Architektur (die Villa) sehr ansprechend - der neuere Trakt mit den Zimmer ist etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Unbedingt im Zweisternerestaurant essen - hervorragend.

Perfect spot for a night or two of opulence.
Pros:

The Hotel is beautiful with wonderful views to the lake and mountains, the staff are excellent and our room Junior Suite exceptional. The restaurant and food is excellent for foodies. Our stay was for one night as part of a longer road trip so can’t comment, on how a longer stay would have been.

Cons:

Difficult to find for the first time, slightly out of the city centre in a residential area. Gym equipment was a bit tired which, for a hotel of this quality was a bit unexpected. Would not be a Hotel we would choose for more than a couple of nights.

Luxus, Eleganz und Perfektion mit traumhafter Aussicht in Lugano

Mein Aufenthalt im Villa Principe Leopoldo in Lugano war einfach außergewöhnlich. Von Anfang an hat alles gestimmt – der Service war erstklassig, aufmerksam und auf höchstem Niveau. Man fühlt sich sofort willkommen und bestens betreut.

Die Zimmer sind wunderschön, stilvoll und elegant eingerichtet und bieten eine atemberaubende Aussicht, die den Aufenthalt unvergesslich macht. Der gesamte Stil des Hotels strahlt eine besondere Eleganz aus, kombiniert mit einem einzigartigen, entspannten und dennoch luxuriösen Ambiente.

Besonders beeindruckt hat mich die Freundlichkeit des Personals sowie der insgesamt harmonische „Vibe“ des Hauses – man merkt, dass hier großer Wert auf Qualität und Gastfreundschaft gelegt wird.

Für mich war alles perfekt – ich kann dieses Hotel uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen und komme sehr gerne wieder!

A very pleasant stay!
Pros:

The room/views were excellent. A truly enjoyable experience. For improvement- during our stay there was a lot of noise in the corridor (vacuuming, staff speaking loudly, etc). Before arriving, we were invited to an online dinner "upgrade" (a special 5 course meal) for 170 CHF per person), but the hotel staff and concierge didn't seem to know anything about this. Despite the initial confusion about the meal, the concierge (Giorgio) assured us that we would be taken care of us and, the meal that we had was truly spectacular! Thank you Giorgio! Nevertheless, when we checked out, the meal was not on the hotel bill and I had to remind them to charge us 340 CHF for this exceptional dinner (ouch!). But overall, we would definitely recommend the hotel and restaurant.
