⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Family Stay at Rawi Warin – Wildlife, Warmth & a Few Gaps
We’re frequent travellers and regularly explore the world with our children, so we feel we have a good benchmark when it comes to family-friendly resorts. We spent two weeks at Rawi Warin Hotel (March–April 2026), and overall, it was a memorable stay with plenty of highlights—especially for nature lovers.
🌴 The Good Stuff
The grounds are absolutely beautiful—lush, well-maintained, and full of wildlife. Waking up to monkeys on the balcony was a daily highlight! We also spotted squirrels, cicadas, butterflies, lizards, frogs, hummingbirds, herons, and even a pair of sea eagles by the beach.
The large pond is fascinating, home to carp and catfish—but the real stars are the Asian water monitors (around 4–5 of them). Watching them appear at fish feeding time (10:00) to grab bread—and occasionally a fish—was incredible.
The hotel really makes an effort with families:
• Ice cream, popcorn, and candy floss treats for kids 🍦
• Bikes available to ride around the resort 🚲
• A lovely Friday movie night on the beach 🎬
Breakfast was excellent and varied, with plenty of choice. We mostly ate lunch by the pool, which was consistently good. Evening restaurants were also nice, but very expensive compared to local options—you can easily feed a family of four outside the hotel for £20–£30 including drinks.
Staff were fantastic throughout—friendly, attentive, and efficient. Housekeeping kept our room spotless, and the rooms themselves were clean, comfortable, and had a nice balcony.
The resort has 2–3 pools, including a children’s pool with a slide, which became the main social hub for kids.
Other highlights:
• The Lanta Lanta Festival was great fun
• Thai culture is incredibly welcoming to families ❤️
• Beautiful weather throughout ☀️
• The beach is soft and scenic, with great snorkelling (though you’ll need sea shoes due to rocks and sea urchins)
We had no trouble getting sunbeds in the first week, though it got busier in the second.
The gym is well-equipped and open all day. The spa looks lovely but is pricey—especially compared to beachside massages nearby (~£10/hour and excellent quality).
There’s also:
• A handy gift shop (including sun cream)
• A dive/snorkel shop with helpful staff and trip bookings
• Reliable (though slightly pricier) hotel transfers
⚠️ The Not-So-Good
The biggest downside for us was the lack of a proper kids club. There’s a small play area for younger children, but nothing structured or staffed—and nothing at all for older kids (8–15). Our children were even turned away from the pool room because it’s 16+, which felt like a missed opportunity.
The local area is very quiet. We’re not sure if this was due to wider travel issues, but we often had to take taxis to find some atmosphere. Even Lanta Old Town was quieter than expected.
While there were some activities available, many came at an extra cost, which added up.
And while not the hotel’s fault—mosquitoes were relentless, so pack strong repellent!
🌏 Other Notes
We booked trips via Viator:
• Koh Ha / Koh Rok – stunning and well worth it
• Phi Phi Islands – beautiful but extremely commercialised
Koh Lanta itself feels quite different from other parts of Thailand:
• Strong focus on diving and snorkelling
• Fewer temples or cultural landmarks
• Around 80% Muslim population, so some restaurants are halal and don’t serve alcohol—but the food is still fantastic
The hotel had a good mix of nationalities—French, German, British (more in week two), plus Scandinavian and Australian guests.
One final note: the evening humidity is intense, so pack accordingly or plan to do laundry regularly!
⸻
⭐️ Overall we have to scale at 4 stars due to:
A beautiful, nature-filled resort with excellent staff and family-friendly touches, but let down slightly by the lack of structured activities for older children and a very quiet local area.
Would we return? Yes—for the setting and relaxation—but with adjusted expectations and for a much shorter period.
Rawi Warin is a unique luxury experience.
What we really liked with Rawi Warin was their focus on sustainability and nature preservation. Everything from the ozone pool, to how the whole resort is tailored to fit into the existing environment and wildlife at Koh Lanta.
The people working at Rawi Warin are sweet and professional and the food both breakfast, lunch and dinner is rich of choice and high on quality.
We really appreciated the activities at the facility, many times led by the always helpful and knowledgeable employee, Dern. Everything from Tai Chi to Aquagym to towel folding. He knew it all. These activities were a great way for our family to have fun, and to connect with others.
We would recommend Rawi Warin to everyone, especially families looking for a quiet and natural place, with lots of comfort and tranquility.
Where do I start when speaking of this breathtaking hotel ? From the moment you arrive, the staff ensure you feel extremely welcomed. All of them go above and beyond in their duties. This isn't a job to them, this is a way of life.
Our room was clean, tidy and spacious. We had all the expected amenities; minibar, TV(connected by wifi with Google TV, Netflix, YouTube and Amazon Prime), hairdryer, safe, tea and coffee making facilities, a separate bath and shower. It was cleaned daily, kept spick and span by our lovely cleaner.
We had paid for the buffet breakfast which was excellent, so many choices. Pastries, noodle station, egg station, western breakast, always a nice curry on offer. There were 3 coffee machines, which whilst not brilliant, were more than adequate. Water and juices, fresh fruit. Just so well stocked.
The hotel has 4 pools, we only really used the main pool. But, myself and my daughter, did investigate the other 3 pools on the first day. Near the main pool is the towel station, also a place to buy food, drinks and ice creams.
The hotel sits on the beach where you can go swimming, every day we were there was a green flag day, so very safe for snorkelling. Inside the sea sits one of the pools. I honestly can't see the point of making a small pool inisde the sea, but it is there nonetheless.
Around the local area are plenty of small restaurants, well worth a trek out every night. There is a 7-eleven maybe half a mile down the road too.
I didn't use the gym, but I did have a quick look in. There was a water station, looked like you had to take your own bottle. Towels were provided with a few machines like treadmills, exercise bikes, etc. It was more than adequate for the number of guests using it at any one time. There was a spa, a thai boxing ring, pool table, football table, bikes and go karts for the kids. Definitley plenty of options.
The hotel did have an acivity program, which we hardly used, but it is there.
All in all, we absolutley loved this hotel.
From the moment we arrived we loved the hotel, we were welcomed with a drink and cold towel, we were taken to our room by car along with our luggage, we had a tropical room which was one line away from the beach, it was very spacious and had a lovely balcony. The room had everything you needed including a mosquito machine and spray, hairdryer, safe, minibar, slippers, pool shoes. Great air con, huuuuuuge bed looked like 2 doubles pushed together. Tea/coffee making, lots of bottled water each day.
The pools were stunning we used two of the three available, the main pool overlooked the beach, it was massive and had a jacuzzi part.
Plenty of sun beds available with lovely long beach towels, there was also a lap pool and another one up the hill.
The beach was good but too hot for us so we stayed poolside. They had a dock with a pool in the sea but we didn’t use it.
The staff by the pool were all lovely and especially Mr Mee who made sure he introduced himself to all guests and once he had, he greeted you like family using your name every day(what a superstar). There were lots of staff so you were never left without a drink for long by the pool.
The food at the pool bar was really good.
Breakfast “oh my days” it was stunning, everyone was catered for, a full Thai menu. Indian menu, continental and good English, there was a lovely selection of fresh fruit, bread, pastries lovely desserts (yes desserts) which I had to try and included cheesecake, chocolate gateaux, banana cake, so good and a real treat.
Each member of staff always greeted you when passing and really helpful
The grounds were stunning lots of work making them look good.
There are some small restaurants outside the hotel which we used and also a short tuktuk drive away to more lovely bars and beach restaurants.
We got clothes laundered over the road for £4 for 4kg bargain
Loved our stay here and didn’t want to leave.
This hotel is lovely, a little peace of paradise. The staff are lovely and helpful, the buffet breakfast had everything you needed and the pool lovely. The beach changed throughout the day, calm and wonderful to swim in to rocky. You can walk out to a few restaurants which are local and service lovely food. Or you can get a tuk tuk for 100 baht to the next beach. We have a transfer arranged by the hotel , which was seamless. We just loved this hotel and were sad to leave. I would say as the Easter holidays it did get busy with children.
Lovely hotel in a good setting on the beautiful island of Koh Lanta. The staff were very friendly and the amenities were clean and everything you need. Room was good, if not a climb (good for our steps 😂). There are 4-5 good restaurants outside the hotel which offer good value, authentic Thai cuisine.
Amazing location with a stunning pool and one of the most breathtaking panoramic views I’ve ever experienced. From the moment we arrived, every member of the staff made us feel incredibly welcome, their kindness and attentiveness truly set this place apart.
I had such a great time doing abs workouts by the beach with Dern and Chamin, the sessions were energizing, fun, and definitely something I’m inspired to continue at home. The spa experience was equally unforgettable; getting my nails done by Noon and Pearl was pure relaxation, and their care and skill were exceptional.
A special thank you as well to Yin (I hope I got your name right sorry!) who thoughtfully drove us around in the tuk tuk and made getting to our villa so easy and enjoyable.
This place is undeniably beautiful, but what truly makes it special is the people. The team here goes above and beyond, they’re absolutely incredible, and they made our stay unforgettable. I couldn’t be happier with the experience.
Last December, my family, including two children, stayed in the beautiful Rawi Warin Hotel for a week over Christmas and we enjoyed every single thing about it. We were greeted on arrival by amazing manager Yard and her wonderful team, including Ploy, who took great care of us throughout our stay. The hotel and grounds were wonderful, including the lake, pool areas, restaurants and beach at the front of the hotel. The breakfast provided each morning was superb with the largest selection of top-quality food that we have ever experienced. The Watermark restaurant was exquisite with various menus available to cater for all tastes and at great prices too. Our daughter fell sick in the middle of our stay and Yard ensured that we had the best medical assistance available to us and organised some nice touches including delivering fruit to the room with a lovely note attached. Yard signed us up for the Christmas Eve gala event which was fantastic. The buffet was the biggest we had seen by far, with delicious food of all types and so well presented. The evening’s entertainment was very enjoyable and ended with a huge fire show on the beach. The entire staff always went above and beyond with their professionalism and kindness and we look forward to revisiting in the future.
Lovely resort, on the beach front. Reception the staff were very friendly and we were given cloths to wash with and a soft drink when we arrived.
Our room was extremely high, and we needed to be taken up in the golf buggies or Little cars each time we wanted to go to our room that would be my only reservation when booking this resort again, I would definitely ask for a room closer to the pool and beach.
Lovely pool great for early morning swims
The breakfast was very nice, lots of variety and the hot food was hot, not many seats to eat outside at breakfast which was disappointing. One thing that did happen while eating breakfast was three monkeys stole food off of an empty table next to us.
Staff came immediately to shoot them away, however this was not an easy task. The staff did thoroughly disinfect the table and also prevent people eating outside for the rest of the morning.
The beach had ample sunbeds on it. You could order drink drinks at the bar and they would bring them to the beach for you.
We enjoyed staying at this five star resort however staying at the much smaller less expensive places felt more traditional in Thailand.
We did eat in the restaurant one evening excellent evening meal but was the most expensive meal we had during our whole day in Thailand.
I’m only on my second day here but I love this place so much that I’m already ready to confidently my review. Our stay thus far has been absolutely heavenly. The grounds are impeccable, the staff are welcoming and kind, the facilities and activities are fabulous (morning yoga, midday water aerobics, evening movie). The beach is lovely, our room is lovely and spacious, it’s an easy walk into the village to check out restaurants and shops. It’s perfect!!
Beautiful hotel with spacious and clean accomodation but extremely noisy. Great buffet breakfast with too many preschool children turned loose playing constantly in the displays. This place is family oriented and not designed for couples seeking a quiet vacation.
This is a well appointed and comfortable hotel with stunning grounds and immediate access to a beach. In addition, there are a number of pools including small ones in close proximity to most rooms across the site. The majority of staff is charming but some of the supervisory more officious.
What is not highlighted is that many rooms are built on the side of a very steep cliff and accessed via hairpin paths designed to cope with the (1:5 gradient ?) or as we counted in excess of 200 steps of irregular height.
On my last evening I had a bad fall on unsecured, loose electrical cables which in a different jurisdiction would have led to an injury claim!
We stayed at Rawi Warin in December and had an incredible experience from start to finish. The resort itself is beautiful, the food was consistently excellent, and the entire staff was warm and welcoming throughout our stay.
What truly made the trip exceptional, though, was Azeem, our dedicated concierge. He went above and beyond every day to make sure everything was perfect. From helping us plan activities to making thoughtful recommendations and checking in on us throughout our stay, his attention to detail and genuine hospitality stood out. Quite honestly, he provided the best concierge service I’ve ever experienced at any resort.
One of the highlights he helped arrange was our boat trip to Koh Rok, which was absolutely fantastic. It ended up being one of the most memorable parts of our trip.
Beautiful resort, great food, and outstanding service all around, but Azeem truly made our stay unforgettable. We can’t wait to come back.
The hotel was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Would like to say a big shout to Mee the pool man who was absolutely fantastic. Took all our names and remembered them throughout our stay along with our room numbers. An absolute treasure he was. Also our lovely cleaner whose name I do not know - stayed in room 727 who left lovely towel decorations on the bed. Also the lovely staff on the beach who served drinks, staff in the restaurant for breakfast, the drivers who took you to the room. Thank you for making our stay pleasurable.
Thanks to Rawi Warin for the amazing days we spent in Koh Lanta. I'd like to specifically thank Azeem who took care of our entire family during the 4 days. Everything was outstanding, the suite, the beach, the food and the service. We will certainly come back soon. Un grand merci !
We’ve had a wonderful stay at Rawi Warin Resort & Spa in Koh Lanta. The setting is beautiful, the grounds and lake are fantastic, and everything is kept immaculate.
What really makes this resort special is the staff. Every single member of staff are so welcoming, smiley and genuinely kind and creates such a warm atmosphere.
A special mention to Mee, the pool man, who keeps everything spotless and always greets you with a big smile (and remembers your name!) And to Mauy in the restaurant, who made our stay extra special, even giving me a few Thai lessons! Such a lovely touch.
As a couple, you may want to avoid school holidays as it was busy around the pool, so we spent most of our time relaxing on the beautiful beach, the staff are constantly up & down to take you food and drink orders!
We would happily return and highly recommend this resort.
Wonderful place and attention to customer service. Mr Mee poolman was just a gem. What a lovely man who remembered our names everyday and made our trip all the much better. Hope you’re well Mr Mee!
Its our last night at the Rawi Warin , Koh Lanta and what an incredible stay we have had.
The hotel is stunning, excellent facilities, beautiful beach and delicious food. Above all though, are the incredible staff. Everyone of them welcomes you with warmth and a smile. Without fail, every day you are made to feel welcome and special. Our, housekeeping team kept our room immaculate and made us chuckle with a new towel animal every day.
The amazing Mr Mee, at the stream pool bar makes sure you want for nothing and remembers everyone's name!!! He made our holiday so special. Thank you , Mr Mee!!
Immaculate hotel and top class service. Lovely beach and gardens which are well maintained. So much voice on the breakfast buffet also. Every staff member welcomed you with a smile.
Support local families by eating out as there are lots of restaurant’s within walking distance if turning left or right out of the hotel or grab a tuk tuk right outside cheap. Along with the out of hotel dining options
Mr. Mee the pool man was lovely made our experience fantastic couldn’t of asked for better service the food and drinks are amazing couldn’t of found a better place to stay big thank you to all the team here especially mr.mee the pool man he definitely deserves a pay rise
