We have stayed at this hotel for many years as a stopover on road trips. For the past few years we have noticed a decline in standards, which might be attributed to a different company actually managing the hotel (not Hilton-managed). We recently stayed here for two separate nights, one week apart, on a Sunday.
Week #1: our room ready on time. When we went to room, found kitchen wastebasket completely full. Bathroom wastebasket had also not been emptied and had items in it. The two toilet paper holders together had probably a total of 4 squares of tissue left on them, which essentially was no toilet paper. We had to call the front desk to send someone up to empty the wastebaskets and give us toilet paper.
Week #2: our room was not ready when we arrived around 4:15pm (check-in 4pm). Told the manager was checking the room (ours was apparently the last one). Not sure why this was the manager's job but assuming short-staffed? Initially told it would just be a few minutes, but those minutes got longer and longer. Finally we said we'd go to dinner and be back later. While walking out in the parking lot, the front desk woman called out to us that our room was finally ready, so we headed back in and checked in. Upon entering the room, we noted a huge stain on the couch, and the bed linens were quite wrinkled, so much that we weren't sure that the linens were fresh ones. The toilet had a huge stain on the bottom which actually resembled unflushed stool.
Both days we were told that they either had a full house the night before and/or many people checking out the day we arrived. These are hotel issues and excuses, and need to be addressed, as guests have reasonable expectations, too. Probably due to not enough staff, especially on a weekend day.
Regarding breakfast: this hotel does not use pre-packaged jams or butter. Instead they have a large bowl with a spatula for each of those. Difficult way to serve yourself and messy. Additionally, this is not as aseptic as individual packets for people to use, which we believe most people would prefer.
As a positive comment, we will say that Cynthia at the front desk (check-in) and the nice man at check-out were friendly and helpful.
The decor and facilities were nice. The kitchenette was quite well equipped, although a kettle or jug would have been welcome.
We were kept waiting for check in. The fold out couch was not very comfortable; the springs could be felt.
There wasn't adequately hot water for making tea or coffee.
The breakfast menu was not as we expected. Missed bacon (had sliced sausage...yuck), Potatoes were dry. Expected biscuits and gravy. Danish pastries were very small. Did not see microwave to warm them up.
I wanted cup of tea when I checked in, but hot water was just warm.
Very clean and staff was awesome.
It was kind of expensive but it was very nice.
