The rooms are great. Our air conditioning broke twice, but was repaired quickly.
Our friends had a swim up room by the other pool bar, lovely & quiet compared to the main pool area
The sun bed wars are real. If you’re not down by 6am you won’t get front row. Nothing is done about it. But, if you can’t beat ‘em….
Sun beds are close together, but just enough space & umbrellas to move around, good drinks service too.
The restaurant is ok. Some meals a lot better than others. It’s expensive!!
There is a restaurant a short walk along the beach, with massage. Good food, good value
Won’t be returning due to sun bed issues. But it was still a great setting!!
We spent 3 weeks in thailand, staying in 4 different resorts and this was by far the best. It is small enough to feel personal, right on the most beautiful beach, with several stunning pools and a range of ages/groups staying meaning there was a great atmosphere.
We stayed for 4 nights but wish we had had 2 weeks here! The breakfast was delicious and the setting is unbelievable. We ate at the restaurant for dinner on the night we arrived as it was late - the food was just ok compared to other restaurants we tried in the area, but the drinks and the setting/views from the beach were great.
We didn’t use them, but the kids spaces and splash zone looked excellent and the hotel definitely looked very family friendly.
The location is great - just a five minute walk to the hustle and bustle of the small town of Khao Lak with plenty of local and western restaurants and bars nearby. In my opinion Khao Lak is the perfect base to explore southern Thailand!
I would 100% stay at La Flora again and recommend to friends!
We stayed in a seaside pool access room, which was spacious, stylish, and very clean. The breakfast was good, and we really enjoyed having breakfast with our feet in the sand. The beach in front of the hotel is beautiful and well maintained.
However, the hotel feels quite crowded. There are many guests and too few sunbeds. Most of the sunbeds are placed very close together in the area between the pool and the beach, which means there is very little privacy. Additionally, people were smoking various things in this area. If we had not had pool access, I probably would not have been fully satisfied.
The staff are kind and helpful. The gym could benefit from an update.
The hotel is ideally located down a quite street beside the beach within walking distance of many lovely bars & restaurants. Hotel grounds are immaculate & tended daily. Interesting layouts of the many different pools on site, the main infinity pool being the largest with a busy swim up bar. Our room on the 1st floor overlooking the gardens, infinity pool & beach was spotless & spacious, with a huge super super king bed, lounge area & outside terrace with overall intimate finishing touches. We ate breakfast every morning, which was extensive buffet style with both European & Thai options. It did get busy around 9 till closing at 1030am, but never ran out of anything (everyone seemed to go for breakfast 830-1030!). Evening meals were also great quality & reasonably priced. The beach is long & wide & very clean with bean bags to lay on on the sand. Plenty of sun beds but not all in the sun all day. The staff are all friendly & helpful . We will certainly recommend this hotel & will be looking at booking again soon
This hotel is definitely only just 3* food cold on buffet and queues at every food station , had to ask for an iron every day instead of leaving in room ? Staff not that friendly, sunbeds overcrowded and hotel overcrowded, went up Phuket Marriot before hand which was fantastic , would not go to la flora again unfortunately, only good thing is close to bars and restaurants
This hotel has a lovely location for a very lovely sandy beach and great swimming , beautiful sunsets and easy walk into town with lots of Restaurants.
Check in was ok and friendly we didn’t like the swim up room we were located as very dark and in the shade the hotel agreed to swop the next day .
The room are of a good four star standard with everything you need.
The swim up rooms are fun but we only actually went in once so we had done it.
The rooms are very clean .
Re sun beds we never had a problem getting one and it’s stupid to say German people take them early , everyone did . I swim every morning first thing and everyone was doing it. And mostly people were pretty good about using them and removing towels when they didn’t need the beds.
We found beds around us available throughout the day .
I did not like how close together they are by the pool . No small tables so the really are just one after the other next to each other . Beach / pool staff very friendly and provide good bar / food service .
We also saw entertainment going on that seem to be well done / kids club water games exercise .
Breakfast was ok but not as higher standard I was expecting . Fruit juice cheap, often poor selection of fruit and very odd items put out for breakfast like slices of pepperoni etc.
The staff are great thou .
Drinks service at the bar for watching the sunset was so good but no tables left for drinking at all laid for dinner so you have to use them if not reserved .
We did not eat dinner here as we like to go out , many many good local restaurants short walk from
The hotel .
The gym is very old and unloved area and a bit of a dumping ground.
Sadly air con doesn’t work well.
I had to ask many times for cold water as the machine was broken .
We pick the hotel based on the gym the photos looked good sadly it was that great , it could be easily but also it needs working air con that allows you to work out in the heat .
We would stay here again based on great location and nice rooms and as always in Thailand kind lovely staff .
Breakfast does need a little bit of attention.
Very good location.
Good breakfast clean and tidy but cant get a sun bed after 8am either near pool / beach or even near room. Germans putting towels on in early hours is worst we have ever seen. Why not allocate a bed for vacation and if not happy ask to change ?
Still here for next 4 days fingers crossed for a bed or more sand in our toes. 😎
Very pretty area and lovely nearby village with lots of shops and restaurants. Beautiful beach but sun lounge area a bit tired. Breakfast very average. Our least favourite hotel of the four we stayed in.
Absolutely amazing hotel! Super clean rooms, kindly and helpful staff! Beautiful beach, swimming pools and lovely garden! Great food! Very good location, near a lot of restaurants, shops, taxi, whatever you need. Hotel is situated just near the beach in quiet area. It’s absolutely worth to stay here, I fully recommend the hotel, just love it!
We spent here 10 days and the hotel offers great service. Just on the beach with bar, swimming pool, fitness and spacious room. The staff is very friendly and helpfull. If you are looking for a place with very good qulity I can reccomend it to you.
Enjoyed an excellent seven nights at La Flora.
Located directly on the beach - convenient for many bars, restaurants and shops.
All facilities good and not overcrowded.
Recommend a swim up room - worth the extra.
Special thanks to both Vanny and Suzy
Brilliant location
Very friendly staff
Situated near the main streets for a large choice of lovely restaurants- breakfast at the hotel was lovely. Gorgeous quality with plenty of choice
Rooms are spotless with great amenities
Despite been a hotel for families, this is a very relaxing hotel.
My husband and I have just spent 10 nights at this hotel.
Positives..the hotel is on a beautiful beach.
The deluxe side sea view room was very spacious and the shower was one of the best I have seen.
The restaurant here is facing the beach and some tables are on the beach. Beautiful views out to sea.
The breakfast was excellent all self service, but so much choice.
We only ate in the evening a couple of times. But that was also very good and good choice.
Entertainment was good, especially Joy and Coco, both amazing singers.
I had two wonderful aromatherapy massages with Kno, in the hotels spa.
The staff in general were so helpful and friendly.
The hotel is literally just out of the town, so lots of lovely restaurants and bars and so
cheap.
Why only the 4 stars?
The negative .. as with a lot of hotels, people were putting towels on the sun beds, I would say from about 7 am!!!! The sun beds were the main negative, as they are so close together as well, the ones with umbrellas were not quite as close together, but they were taken early. They have got a policy of removing towels after an hour if not attended, but this was rarely the case, although we did see it a couple of times?
Our other problem was there were too many children, which isn’t the hotels fault, unfortunately it was who we booked it with was at fault. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and somewhere a little quieter would have been more ideal for us.
We just enjoyed a couple of weeks at La Flora, our second stay. Everything about the hotel is top class. The food and drink is excellent with a wide range of choice. The rooms are well equipped and kept spotless by the cleaning staff. No request is too much trouble for the front desk staff and the bar staff are super friendly and professional. The beach team are attentive meaning you never need to leave your sunbeds if you don’t want to. The position of the hotel, right on the beach, offers fantastic access to the sea and perfect sunsets.
The only negative we experienced was from other guests. We travelled in early January and there were a lot of families with kids, making the main pool unusable at times. You can’t blame the kids but there was a lot of screaming and shouting. I would suggest La Flora create an area for adults only among the sun beds or choose the date of your stay carefully. Also sunbeds were being reserved from 7am making a nonsense of the hotels policy of sunbeds being cleared if unoccupied for an hour. In two weeks I regularly saw sunbeds with towels unoccupied until late morning. La Flora should enforce the one hour rule.
To conclude, La Flora remains our favourite hotel in Khao Lak. We’ve tried others but La Flora has the perfect package and if like us you like getting out and about, the hotel offers easy, flat walking to dozens of bars and restaurants as well as Bang Niang Market. Finally the laundry over the road will wash and iron your clothes for 60 baht (£1.50) per kilo - avoiding the post holiday washing and ironing is worth it!
Amazing time at La Flora, located on the beach with great facilities. Khao Lak beech is golden and beautiful with its own pier for boat trips. I would highly recommend.
Service and friendliness is very high standard, the breakfast food includes lots of variety and choice.
As always Thailand is very good value for money.
I wish I could say this place lived up to our expectations, but unfortunately it didn’t.
The room, whilst spacious and lovely looking on first arrival, smelled like sewage the entire 2 weeks we were there. We complained multiple times and they would fix it for a day before it came back with a vengeance.
Another issue was that the walls must have been thin. This meant you could hear the neighbours conversations, their FaceTime calls and their…(in one of our neighbours cases) very loud intimate moments, which was unpleasant to say the least.
In addition to this when we left we found mould and damp on some of our clothes.
The breakfast buffet, while they offered a good choice of food was completely rammed with people. As another reviewer has said, it feels like feeding time at the zoo.
We went half board and you could choose to have diner or lunch. The food is nice enough, but inconsistent with quality of cooking. However on some days the dinner is a buffet that you have to pay extra for. You can, of course decline and go for the regular menu. This just feels like an annoying cash grab.
Whilst it looks in the photos like there is amazing wrap around pools - there is really only one main pool, which was completely overcrowded and, whilst families may enjoy a lot children being around, as a young(ish) couple, didn’t make for a relaxing time. The only place in front of the beach is right next to this, and the beds are crammed in so close to one another it really does feel like a budget, overcrowded place.
To make matters worse you had guests leaving their towels on the beds for 24 hours to ensure they kept their spot.
We only did one activity the - the T’ai chi class. It was honestly, awful. It very much seemed like the “instructor” was making it up as he went along.
Overall, staff not overly friendly/helpful - with one standout Filipino chap who was really nice. The front of house were especially bad and overall did not seem to care to try and help at all.
Overall I would say stay away from this place and save your money.
First class hotel and surroundings, by far the most convenient for beach and village of the surrounding hotels. Staff helpful, charming and friendly. Food splendid. Would stay there again if in the area.
Stayed here with family (two teenage daughters) and we had avery enjoyable stay and we had a great time. The welcome from front desk was excellent - the view from the restaurant overlooking the beach and sea & adjacent to the pool and beds are is excellent. The food here from breakfast/brunch/dinner is surprisingly top class and the chefs are no doubt top class as the food and presentation of each meal is of a high standard. The waiting staff & bar staff are also very attentive and friendly (+ very hard working) - The main pool has a good selection of lay out beds (some with covers for those looking for shade for children maybe) - The majority of the beds overlook the beautiful stunning beach and is fantastic to swim in for or just cool off if you don't swim - The beach is also lovely for a nice walk or run - The main pool has a toddlers pool adjacent and it also has a top class pool bar with a very good selection of beverages (plus excellent bar staff / mixologists) - The rooms - We had a split room with a balcony & it was stunning, spacious, big comfy beds & lovely bathrooms with excellent showers - Also plenty of room for storage - The rooms were kept so clean by the housekeeping team - Around the grounds there is a avenues of swimming areas if you fancied an early ore late swim outside your room door - The location is excellent also in terms of waling to a local shop, (great massages directly across the road plus a top class tailor called RB famous (Thomas) plus many bars cafes restaurants, markets just a walk away - Overall this hotel stay had only one negative and that is that we had to check out after 8 nights as we were moving on! - We all hope to return here some day - Well done to all of the staff.
Great location on beach, not too busy. The breakfast was great, lots of choice and to sit over looking beach every morning was magical. Staff very friendly, nice ce atmosphere, relaxed and chilled. Good for families or couples. Would definitely come back.
The Reception Staff are not very friendly upon Check In, Bell Boy(Man) stood expecting a tip(Which was given) but should not be expected!
Generally the staff are not as pleasant as other hotels stayed in on this trip.
Sunbeds are set out extremely tightly on the beach & looks as though you need to be up extremely early to get a sea view sun bed along the beach.
Breakfast is far to busy at all times, again the staff are not to accommodating.
Overall not what we were expecting compared to the other hotels we have stayed at during this trip to Thailand.
