We loved the spa area and all staff were so friendly and welcoming
No telephone with direct dial to reception (and no reception)
Fijne rustige plek, goed ontbijt en fijne kamers.
Niks
Amazing breakfast, early open hours for SPA.
No A/C
Excellent location. We were visiting to watch our children in the Regional Volleyball tournament and could walk or drive to the venue.
Great location and facilities
Nothing
The ground floor was nice and modern
The upper floors are out dated, baggy carpets in the corridors, rooms are very much like Travelodge standard, no air conditioning in rooms. Small beds.
The restaurant and bar area look brilliant but the restaurant especially the staff weren’t capable. Waited 2 hours for our main meal which turned up cold. The manager was incompetent and struggle to deal with situations that occurred. Eating in the restaurant was a disaster.
Close to a tournement we were playing at
No air conditioning
Some rude staff
Waited 2 hours for food
Didn’t accept cash but wasn’t given this information (soon accepted when the other offer didn’t suit them)
Couldn’t split the bill
Very noisy during first night - banging from room above could not sleep. Had to move rooms for second night.
The decor, the space
No a/c in room!
Very poor organisation. Almost Couldnt have a meal and then had to wait an hour and a half for my meal to arrive.
Location is great, restaurant good
No air conditioning, Wi-Fi was non existent.
The court yard rooms are very noisy.
Not a comfortable stay at all
Ideal location for meeting friends on uni campus. The room was very comfortable
Poor service - which isn't a reflection on the staff but is on the management as they didn't have enough staff on for a busy hotel. There was also no management in sight when we did have issues to report. Knowing that the hotel was full on the Saturday night then they should also have ordered adequate supplies, as our group was told we couldn't have either Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot as they didn't have any left. It was the bar staff that had to give us this information and they were embarrassed to have to say this - and it's not their fault! In addition our group was told they couldn't use the bar in the evening as there was a private function in it .... as a hotel guest then this didn't give us a feeling of being a welcome guest. The hotel had other area so why were they not allocated appropriately!?
The hotel is convenient for the university. The staff were really helpful at check in and when we had questions.
I’d have expected a hotel costing £160-£180 per night to have air conditioning. Given the heatwave this weekend, our upstairs room was like a sauna and sleep was impossible. They had put a fan in the room but they are not effective. I’ll remember to book the Premier Inn next time.
Location
No air con and rooms that were absolutely stifling and couldn’t open the windows.
I booked 2 rooms - 1 for my husband and daughter and 1 for myself and daughter.
Due to the overwhelming heat in my husbands room we all had to sleep in the junior suite. I had to buy 2 x fans at over £70 to try to cool the room down but this just circulated hot air.
I slept for a maximum of 2 hours and had to get up twice for a cold shower, extremely unpleasant!!
The staff were extremely unhelpful.
I will not be returning.
The food from room service was good, as was the breakfast selection.
The approach to the hotel was off-putting, driving into an industrial estate with a security barrier where you have to ask permission to enter. Through the barrier the surroundings are big metal buildings marked as engineering or similar.
As someone who stays in many hotels, here and abroad, I expected to be greeted at a reception desk but it was self check-in terminals. As an elderly female, I did not find this ideal. A member of staff was present but not clearly identifiable, no uniform or ID. She explained she had ID on her waist, but it was not obvious. She gave the impression that she didn't want to be there and everything was too much trouble. There was no smile or friendly greeting.
GDPR was given as the reason for mandatory self check-in, she said they are not allowed to take personal details in front of others, but this does not reflect how GDPR actually works in practice, as it requires data to be handled securely rather than preventing in-person reception check-ins altogether.
She then took a phone booking in the same open area, including full personal and payment details, which seemed inconsistent with what I had been told about privacy.
During this time, I had to wait some time while she dealt with the phone call, as I needed basic information about parking registration, meal times, and hotel facilities, none of which were obvious. No other staff were present.
Once in the room, no information about the hotel, such as breakfast times, checkout procedures, or the leisure facilities. I had planned a swim but no clear signage for the swimming pool or leisure centre.
Overall, the atmosphere felt more like a youth hostel as the most of the guests I saw were very young.
For the price paid, I did not feel it was good value. I was only about an hour from home and wished I had gone home instead of staying, especially as it cost around £150 for the room, food and drinks for one person.
I would not choose to stay here again.
