A lovely and well-maintained hotel. Everything was very clean, the rooms were comfortable, and the surrounding area was beautiful. The pool is large and spacious, making it a great place to relax and enjoy your stay. Overall, a wonderful experience and definitely a place I would be happy to return to.
This property surprised me. Initial thoughts were it is a bit dated, tired, in need of a revamp. Very old-school decor like it is stuck in the 80’s. A superficial facelift would go a long way. I was expecting something a bit more sophisticated for the nightly rate.
However, I ended up loving it. The room was so spacious and immaculate, air con worked perfectly, we had a large terrace overlooking the pool and I loved all the tiny details like the drying racks on the balcony and chocolates replaced every day. The cleaners came every day and made up the room.
The pool was immaculately maintained, and we used it a lot. It was large, clean, quiet, with a beautiful view of the sunset.
The breakfast was decent for European standards and the breakfast room itself was so serene with a gorgeous view. We had some beautiful sunsets.
The staff were also lovely, Tina in particular helped us quite a bit with our various random requests that travelling with two young kids brings. She helped us book a day cruise to Positano & Amalfi which ended up one of our trip highlights.
The shuttle bus, although EXTREMELY timely and well maintained an air conditioned, often took 15-20min for trips. The road to the hotel is narrow, high trafficked and windy, so the bus had to drive an extra bit past the hotel to turn the bus around, this could add up to 10 minutes to the journey. So whilst it is a 10min ride, it often took 20min.
Limited food menu and hotel location is not close to any shops. You really have to plan & bring snacks from Sorrento. There are a couple of established tavernas within 20min walk, but in the August heat it wasn’t feasible.
Skromne śniadania bez możliwości większego wyboru, codziennie to samo.
The free shuttle bus to the center.
The older gentleman serving us on the pool area and the older gentleman on the reception when we were leaving.
Free tovels for the pool.
There was a distinct smell in the room and the room itself was a bit dated.
We didnt find the pool or the view too enjoyable(it was mostly fenced and they dont show it on the pictures).
The breakfast had more options than usual "italian style breakfast" but most of it tasted odd.
Great swimming pool and shuttle bus . Nice views.
the food at the snack ( pool) and breakfast are not good and very expensive for the quality
Clean, hospitable and cozy.

Second time visiting La solara, such a lovely hotel, the staff are so friendly and helpful, the hotel is immaculately clean and the food is fabulous. I would highly recommend this hotel, a place of calm in bustling Sorrento.
A special mention to the staff in the restaurant who made you feel so welcome , thank you x

This hotel met my expectations and more. I travelled with my mum and we stayed for 7 nights. The hotel is located high above Sorrento and is perfect for a relaxing holiday, no hustle and bustle whatsoever. On arrival our cases were collected from the coach and taken to reception where we were offered a much needed welcome drink (Naples airport deserves a review all of its own). On checking in we were pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to a junior suite (406) which was fantastic and the balcony was huge - we loved the automatic sunshades! The hotel is immaculately clean and exceptionally well presented - the house keepers do an amazing job. All the staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. We stayed half board and enjoyed the food. It is a daily set menu with enough choices to keep everyone happy. All very well cooked and presented and again the restaurant staff were fantastic. We didn’t use the pool area as we had sun loungers on the balcony but we did use the pool bar and there are pool towels available free of charge. The road to the hotel is absolutely manic and I wouldn’t advise anyone to attempt walking to Sorrento! The courtesy bus runs on the hour and takes 10mins, it returns at 15mins past the hour from the bus stop on the opposite side of the road. We used it several times and it was always on time - you need nerves of steel to drive in Italy! This hotel is perfect for adults and really is quiet and peaceful - if you want something more lively then there are plenty of bars in Sorrento. We absolutely loved it and couldn’t find one negative.
This was our second visit to this hotel, as we loved our stay so much the first time. Sadly, we won’t be returning again.
There are still lots of positives about the hotel. The service is great, the staff work hard, the cocktails are delicious, and the rooms are kept exceptionally clean. However, the food was a huge disappointment this time and really let the overall experience down.
As a vegetarian, I found the options very limited and repetitive, and I ended up eating tomato-based pasta most evenings. I actually came to dread meal times, which is such a shame as the food was delicious and varied during our previous visit. Unfortunately, it wasn’t just the vegetarian options either, even my partner’s meat dishes were very disappointing, with poor-quality ingredients and meals that simply didn’t look appetising.
Breakfast was okay, with the pastries being the highlight, but even some of the fresh produce, such as the tomatoes, seemed a little lacklustre.
We really wanted to love our stay as much as we did the first time, but unfortunately the decline in the quality and variety of the food means we wouldn’t choose to return. It’s a real shame, as the hotel gets so many other things right.
Hotels lovely and very clean, food is pretty bad. Menu sounds really nice every night but is served like its all microwaved in a bag. Looks bad and doesn't taste great either. The odd dish was OK. Breakfast on the other hand is great and marchello the restaurant manager is great too.
Hotels in a great position but a little out of the way which is what we wanted. Shuttle bus and its drivers are really lovely.
Drinks and service at the bar were really good. Geovanni was by far the best member of staff in the whole hotel. Professional, knows how to have a laugh and will help if you need it. Other staff like reception unhelpful and quite rude. He could of kept the custom their all by himself.
All in all a great stay, just wish the food was as a good as it sounded and the other staff cared a little more.
